He did play in 2 Super Bowls. Again, he's not lighting the world on fire with his play or anything, but he mostly stays away from penalties, and plays a NFL-representative LT.
See above from @Hammer of Thor

My ideal scenario at this point would be to sign Tyron Smith as a short term LT, then trade back into the first round and get the long term LT Josh Simmons. It would give the Pats a veteran starter and allow Simmons time to heal before he’s ready to be the LT for the future.

Yeah, PFF grades are pretty meaningless to me.
Guy has been battling injuries the last couple years which has a major impact. Then lost his job to Alaric Jackson so was getting shuffled all over.

He’s not amazing or anything but he’s probably better than Lowe. You can’t really trust him to stay healthy but you can’t trust Lowe to stay healthy either. Between the two of them you can at least have one or the other available most of the time, it’s a start. Add a rookie, maybe you can get acceptable production.

The Tyron Smith we'd be getting is like 80% of Tyron's Smith prime - which is still a monster upgrade.

Your scenario would be close to best-case scenario, to be honest.

I dunno PFF grades from my backside, so I really can't comment on that, other than it's a different point of view. It does stay consistent with what I have been saying about this year's FA season, especially at LT and WR: castoffs, malcontents and past expiration dates. I am sure Noteboom is not going to be the solution as much as he could be simply another body.

Man Marrone and Vrabel must see something in Lowe. Has the right size and statistical measurements to succeed. But it did not translate under last years regime would be an understatement. Couldn't take my eyes off him and Jacobs when offense was on the field; horrifying.

I mean, other than Ronnie Stanley, there were exactly zero long-term 'solutions' at left tackle in free agency. And Stanley never got to Free Agency.

At this point, you're looking for a guy who won't **** his pants on every snap for a year or two while a drafted guy gets up to speed.

That's not Verdarian Lowe. They should let him wear brown pants on gameday.

If that's true, it wouldn't have killed us to give him that deal for a year. Edit: His signing with the Texans has been confirmed by Masslive.com
Sorry if I missed someone else posting this, but Houston is less than a 6 hour drive from his hometown in Louisiana. So it could be like Cooper Kupp in that equal money doesn't get the deal done, not even considering state taxes.

I mean, who knows, these writers could be the Rams equivalent of our most negative posters. But these articles are what popped up first when I googled him. Sounds like the real problem was his performance this year compared to prior years. Possible that he’s just been hurt too many times and the last injury was one he wasn’t fully back from (and might never fully recover). I have no idea unfortunately, would be awesome if there was some objective source out there. PFF tries to do that, but of course has its major issues.

I can understand that being the case.

The 2 glaring needs at LT and WR1 go unaddressed in free agency. Not great.
They’ve spent more money (by far) than any other team in free agency, they’ve brought in 14 new players.

Rome wasn’t built in a day, or in one free agency period. A team with this many needs had to start somewhere

The only position you care about is WR. You covet any WR not in a Pats uniform way worse than @PatsFan2, who at least understands that there's other positions on a football team. Now you're advocating a 3rd for a guy, while talented, is on the Tua Taglovailoa train to CTE Land. If he's healthy, why would the Saints get rid of him? Stop coveting any WR and just wait and see what happens.

Patsfan2 wanted them to take Marvin Harrison Jr. instead of Maye. Think of how screwed they would be had they done that?
