Player Signing Patriots sign Center Garrett Bradbury

He started 88 games. That is 5+ seasons worth. You can find clips of all but the most elite players (and no one is calling him that) getting blown up at some point. We need linemen. He is a 5 year starter. It is really as simple as that

5 year offensive line starter for a 2024 Playoff Team which is something that cant be said for anyone else on this team…. Lets give him a chance before we throw him to the wolves….

Bradbury to Patriots was rumored once he was slated for release by the Vikings.
I think this is a move with upside as he has decent athleticism for center.
The only concern is the scouting report says his passblocking is a weakness but maybe that improves with proper coaching in a different system?

Money is not crazy so we are hedging. If Bradbury turns out to be good he's a cheap starting C for 2 years, if he's bad, we can even release him with little cap consequence in a year.

His dumb Newton's Law calculation would have fit right in with the Deflategate report.

Bradbury has a lot of experience, which is particularly important in a center. He has in the past played well - 10th ranked center one year. Last year he wasn't good - but we have no idea if he was injured or what the rest of the line and the coaches were like.

Bottom line he's likely a serviceable option that comes cheap. Worst case is Strange or someone (perhaps a draft pick) beats him out and you cut him. Best case is he reverts to his 2023 form and is a good player once more that we aren't paying much.

And for those pining for Andrews, he was waived with a failed physical. Maybe they only recently found that out, or he would have been released earlier.

This also shows you have to take “pressures” with a grain of salt with Darnold at QB. He sees ghosts and a “hurry” is defined as adjusting his spot in the pocket. Robison is getting killed for pressure #s but he allowed 4 sacks 4 hits and 41 pressures. How many of those pressures are on Darnold for bailing?

Was Ben Brown really that bad at center? Apparently they don't think too highly of him.

He was really bad. Not as bad as Jacobs or Lowe, but that is a brutal comparison. Brown, Jacobs, and Lowe all have to go.

So far Brown and Jacobs are replaced. Not by superstars, but by average guys.

The guy started 88 games. The Vikings won 14 games with Sam Darnold at qb. Last time I checked Sam wasn't exactly cool hand Luke under pressure. So I'm going to go ahead and assume that he isn't THAT terrible and that he can be coached up.
The **** people ***** about in here never ceases to amaze me...

The Vikings were paying him peanuts. If he was fine they wouldn’t have ditch him for an older player. He has allowed the most pressure of any center last year.

In fact he was considered by many the top candidate to become our center once Andrews was released.

I like the signing and I'm glad the Strange at C experiment is over. Keep him at LG.. he looked like a long snapper more than a C.

At this point I don't think we can count Strange as a proven NFL starter.

Based on his rookie year and games before he got hurt his performance was middling.
