I like the upside based on his athleticism and relative youth at age 25. With proper coaching he could become a solid contributor on the defense in a dedicated pass rushing role.

One favorable comparison would be Kyle Van Noy.
He joined us at age 25 for a 7th round pick and became a solid contributor for 4 years including a number of nice plays in the playoffs and including our 2018 Superbowl winning team.

As a former 1st round pick Chiasson arguably has even a higher upside than Van Noy if he pans out. I see this as a worthwhile gamble on just a 1 year deal. If he does great in Vrabel's defense we extend him. If not, no permanent harm was done to our cap space.

Whoops my bad.

If Simmons falls out of the first round due to injury, and he's somehow there at 38, and they DON'T draft him, I'll be right there with @captain stone reminding the Patriots they should have drafted him in every game thread for the next 10 years.

Simmons is right there with Banks, Membou and Conerly as LT prospects, for me.
I think Membou is more RT Tommy.

Don't forget BC's Ozzie Trapilo : he was working with Scar. It would be criminal if don't get him on a double dip.

The pressure is on him now. He can't use the poor coaching staff as an excuse anymore when teams made him invisible after getting tape on his only rush move.

This is actually a Belichick type of move. Belichick always used to bring in former 1st round picks who had failed elsewhere. The thought being that they had enough talent to warrant a high pick, so there could be something they could work with and get out of them. I’m sure they have studied the tape and believe it’s worth taking a shot at. I’m sure this will disappoint those who believe you should only bring in stars at every position, and anything else is just meh, but this is a no lose situation. If he works out great, if not no big deal.
And honestly most didn't work out, but the few that did were worth the extremely low risk in the attempt. I'm a big fan of a low risk volume approach before camp - the draft is such a crap shoot that teams should always bolster the odds simply in volume on veterans that may be a better scheme fit.

Agree completely. At this point the most important factor to me is the length of the deals, because there isn’t anyone out there that you want to be starting for them in 27’. And you don’t want the dead money charged that come with cutting them in their third year.

Deal length more important than arm length?

Not as good as at 1am, but I had to run off to golf, so never got to check out her personality either.

Over 30, coming off a major injury.. no one is in any rush likely including Diggs himself.
yean, I don't think he could pass a physical this soon. By camp he may be ready to run and cut, but my guess is a couple of months of that before he is reasdy for contact.
