What’s our plan at Wide Receiver?

So the only player who can improve our sad WR corps is a guy you have to give 2 1s for? Has any wr ever been traded for 2 1s?
The comment wasn’t wait until next year to try to get the greatest WR who ever lived, it was wait til next year for WR.
In the context of Tee Higgans- yes. For a WR1 at his cost point it's wait until next year.
I think we need to improve the WR room this year, not stand pat
They can certainly add the Amari Coopers of the world for minimal dollars but it won't move the needle.

Yes. We in trouble. When we picked Edelman when we had Moss and Welker, both FA pickups... Gave him time to learn from Pro's. It's means something. Hopefully Josh can make lemonade out of our 's.
Both were acquired via trades not free agency. The Pats traded their 2nd and 7th round picks for Welker and their 4th round pick for Moss. To your other point though I hope McDaniels can help coach up someone out of this young WR group.

No it would be insane to go after Higgins.
Whatever they do, they can’t stand pay with what we have, that was my point.

Some posters on this site are making comments to the effect of being in a 3 year plan so being better this year doesn’t matter, just wait and try again next year. Thats what caused me to respond.

No, no, no.
They did not sit down and say defense and “culture” are importsnt offense isn’t.

Can we please drop this “culture” ********. It’s like saying but she has a great personality. No one who knows anything about building a football team thinks that bad players make good culture and good players make bad culture.
More talent equals better culture. Every time.
Ok... you right.. Vrabel doesn't want a culture. Let's rehire Mayo!

My strategy is either to take Hunter with our first pick.
Trade down to take the top OL on your board.
I’m watched a ton of tape on the wide receivers and the truth
he is the only number 1 WR the other all have strengths and weaknesses.

I don’t see a huge talent drop from Golden to say Noel.
From Higgins to Smiith.

Only sure fire WR with number 1 talent in this draft is Hunter and Emeka from Ohio State, Burden has a outside chance to become a very good number 2 poor mans number 1.

It’s a log jam of mid talent.
Vrabel said they want guys who can win the contested deep balls and 1 on 1 Matchups.

If we aren’t making a blockbuster trade for Brown, Olave, or insert WR here.

We have to be smart and not overdraft for mediocre upgrades.
I like it. I believe something will transpire.. they know full well that they can't leave the offense I'm it's current state. The approach to me is clear. As the entire team needed upgrades all around. The easier part was the defense in FA. I'll continue to say that coaching is a huge equalizer for a team. Definitely we need talent as well. I trust Vrabel to continue to get this team respectable.

Ok... you right.. Vrabel doesn't want a culture. Let's rehire Mayo!
Of course he wants a culture.
He doesn’t want to not win yet because he wants to build a culture before getting players.
You build culture WITH players.
Why would good players not be part of a good culture?

Mayo was exactly what you are endorsing. He literally said he cared more about the person than the football player.

Ok. We are here. Brady 2001, Troy Brown, David Patten and Antwain Smith with a great defense.. Let's see if Douglas, Bourne, a rookie back and Left tackle with a Solid defense. It has been done, it's doable...

This is my fear. I hate the "telegraphing" word because I LOATHE the idea that our draft is seen as a trickle down effect of free agency. Moreso than any position this team needs HIGH END TALENT. Even the best teams have positional weaknesses. What's holding us back from being a competitive team is the lack of high end talent in general, and the best path to add that is the draft. You make it harder on yourself if you pigeonhole yourself into only looking at certain positions with the best picks.

Yes, and there's no real option this year.

I think Vrabs has shown he is not scared to move up in the draft.
Vrabs may move up to 2 with his buddies in Cleveland to take Carter or Hunter.
It’s a bad idea to let the draft come to us.

What would the trade compensation be to make that move for us?

That would be the STUPIDEST ****ing trade in Patsies’ ****ing History.

It will Have to be McD to do it too, because it sure as **** won’t be Todd ****ing Downing doing it.

And for the fun of it, according to the JJ value chart: 2 for 4, 38,69,145 is 1 point in our favor, and that is before any sweetener is added for moving up for one of the two blue chips in the draft.

This is what everyone said last year. I'm done making excuses/kicking the can down the road.
Yup and WAS and NE assed on the BPA
Trade down is definitely ideal, I really doubt it happens. I know people are saying that teams will want to trade up for the QB. IMO this is like the Kenny Pickett draft.
Why won’t someone give us a top 100 pick to trade up for whoever is left at 4?
If Carter or Hunter is there we’d expect more.

We could certainly trade down and draft 2 LTs in the first 2 rounds (2 shots at getting our 3 year starter.

I've been a fan of Egbuka since last year. I seem to be a lot higher on his potential for NFL success than most other folks. I once said that he reminds me of a bigger 6'1-202 vs 6'1-195, and faster 4.4 something 40 vs 4.30 40 Justin Jefferson. But when people point out that he's not on the same level as Jefferson, I point out that when he was drafted (after Jalen Reagor by the way), he wasn't the Jefferson that he came to be. He's been played mostly out of the slot in college, but with his size, speed, and quickness, he can be deployed at any WR position. Barring injury, and an incompetent coaching staff, and poor QB play, he could greatly exceed his draft position. Just my humble opinion.
I agree

I disagree,
If we see him as a generational talent the relationship with Cleveland should be a friendly partner to jump the Giants and any team who could trade up with the Giants or Cleveland’s spot for Hunter,
If we think we can stand Pat pun intended.
We will miss out like we did on Worthy, and Leggette last year who we reportedly tried hard to trade up for.

This team isn’t that team. At least not yet.

For 25 years I have described that teams reason for winning as:

They could exploit and take advantage of your weaknesses, whatever area.
They could outplay your average areas more often than not.
They could limit and mitigate your strengths, no matter what they were

This team hasn’t shown yet it can exploit pas defenses.
It certainly can’t limit a good pass rush.
It is questionably whether it can generate enough pass rush to hold up against good passing offenses, but the secondary is encouraging.

We have sucked for 5 straight years. Stop kicking the can down the road.
The concern I have is too much money has been spent on defense. Williams and Davis had no business getting the money they got. Bill did this in his last years and it backfired. The players he drafted and signed weren’t very good and the offense was severely neglected.

There’s a ton of pressure on Wolf to land an impact player or two in this draft on offense or it will set this team back again for a few years.

Love the optimism but no lol.

For starters you're Comparing Maye to Brady.

This defense is not as good as the 01 defense even if we land Carter at 4 he'd have to be Richard Seymour to even get us close.

No one on this roster at WR is close to as good as 2000 Troy Brown. I like Douglas more than most and I'm not going there.

We will also need to get extremely lucky to find a LT as good as Matt Light in the second round.

Matt light was an underrated player SBB.

We stand to be much more athletic In our front then the 01 defense.. now I know your saying is my guy Real fan crazy.. lol.. just think for a minute.. we ran a 2 gap system that doesn't Really allow for the DL to rush as often, we have a one gap wich puts pressure on the OL every snap while eliminating the run game.. hard to even compare to those great defenses.. but we Stand to be more athletic at the very least.
