Player Signing Patriots sign WR Mack Hollins

Sure, but don't confuse that with how good a player he is. Every fan base has their favorites. They're not pissed because "how could we let such a good player go?!?!". They're pissed because it's such a low cost deal in NFL terms and they liked him to they wanted to keep their favorites.

It's the same type of "upset" everyone here gets every offseason when some 5'2" slot receiver with some shiftiness makes a couple random plays in the preseason and people fall in love and get mad when he doesn't make the team.

True, but the guys that fan bases tend to love are the guys who play their asses off whenever they are given their opportunities. Spillane falls into that category as well. Brendan Schooler is a guy who falls into that category.

Why do the patriots SUCK at closing deals on good wide receivers? Just heard the Chris Godwin news. I hope this signing of a JAG isn’t a consolation prize for being spurned by Godwin.

Hollins will do nothing for Drakes development

Sorry. I'm not buying what you're selling. Hollins was 29 in Vegas. He'll be 32 just after the start of the season.

In the 2 seasons since his "career" year in Vegas, he's had the following:
30 games, 80 targets, 49 receptions, 5 drops, 5 TDs, 629 yards. 1066 offensive snaps.

Color me unimpressed. Just because he has some history with McDaniel isn't enough to convince me he's worth a 2 year deal.
But McDaniels obviously does.

I guess offering 30 million a year to guy who is a #2 who decided to take less because he has played his entire career in Tampa and his family wanted to stay means that Pats Suck.

If they offered Godwin $30M and he turned it down my concern isn't the "he turned it down" part it's the fact that they made that stupid offer in the first place

Everyone knows we need more, but he fits a type that they need (X); he is already familiar with Josh's offense; he didn't get big money; and signing him doesn't stop them from signing anyone else. I'm sure the FO knows that they need more, but this is just a signing that they thought would fit in with the team and fill a role.

The 30 million number was a guess a writer made based on a different quote that said "they offered more than 20million more" but who knows how that money was structured, it could have been a million more a year, but with an extra year.

Holli s will add reliability to the offense, he will run the routes like they are supposed to be run...at least that is my theory

We over payed for a defensive linemen. This is what a team has to do when they are no longer considered a winning program.

There's absolutely no way the Pats offered that and there's no way Godwin would reject that.

There are multiple articles indicating that he is staying with Tampa on a 3 year 66 million contract and that NE offered 20 million more which would bring that close to 30 million a year. You say there is no way and yet they just made a defensive lineman the highest paid Pats player in history.

In the very least he's willing to block and good at it..and I don't mean that in a snarky way. Sometimes that can make or break a play. If he can also catch 500 yds that also would be great.

Yeah it's actually quite weird when you think about it. What exactly did he do to deserve that? The red flag I see with Williams is that he was a rotational guy in Philly. Can he be a 3 down DL in NE? Javon Hargrave also scored a big deal from SF and he did fine in year 1, but he was not a 3 down DL. Got injured in year 2 and is not worth the money at this point.

I hope he lives up to that contract but I have my doubts. Its clear Vrabel wants him to be the foundation for the line and be more than a rotational piece based on the conference with the media yesterday. Out of the 4 players I was least impressed with his interview with the media.

Maybe he's just not as comfortable with media as some others. Maybe's he's just not as articulate as some others. Harsh to judge someone on a presser when you don't really know them.

I'm never going to know him nor will anyone on this board so all I have to go buy is what he said and it was tough to listen to (or make sense of) especially after Morgan Moses who I now think he should be a team captain.

He's not on anyone's fantasy team, therefore he must suck.

I see your point, but give me an inarticulate but dominant player over a wordsmith who gets pancaked.
