Would really like to see them make a run at Becton. 35 5/8" arm length, 7ft. wing span. 6'7" tall 350lbs, athletic for size, 25 years old. Has a year under a talented Philly offensive line and coach. I don't know if there are any red flags on him but man if Doug Marrone can get this guy to play you could hit the jackpot.
I'm torn on him, because he was outstanding last year and he was able to stay healthy but how long will he be able to remain healthy? From what I recall during his time with the Jets, there were concerns that his knee injury had turned into a chronic condition that would have to be "managed" going forward.

We have the money to make this Team great.
I don’t get how we have not upgraded WR and LT.
There's just a scarcity of players available at those positions. They're so valuable that teams hold onto them with death grips. And for the guys that do become available, there's stiff competition from other teams. They reportedly wanted Stanley but he wanted to stay in BAL. Same with Godwin. Metcalf would have cost the #38 pick and a top of the market deal which is tough for a team that still needs so much. Guys like Darius Slayton or Josh Palmer would have improved our WR room, but they probably just add to our hodge podge of #3/#4 types and probably isn't the best use of funds. The Chiefs are obviously a great team but they might have opened as the only team with a worse LT situation than us so Jaylon Moore preferred to sign there with as good/better opportunity on a good team despite our reported interest. Dan Moore isn't really an "answer" at LT but he got a mega deal.

There are some stop gap/reclamation projects at LT out there in Cam Robinson, Tyron Smith and Jedrick Willis but none are really reliably better than Lowe based on recent history. There's a group of vet receivers in Amari Cooper, Stefon Diggs, Cooper Kupp, Keenan Allen, Dionte Johnson, Tyler Lockett, Brandon Cooks who all looked sort of washed last year.

I'm not sure there is much of an upgrade out there at WR or LT, tbh.

He played with the Jets and was terrible at LT and RT. PHI moved him to RG last year and he turned it around, but it's not like he was an all pro. Onwenu, despite the disdain for him on here, is probably still a better RG and contract mechanics make it not worth it to move on from him to sign Becton for that spot. t's a tough projection to think he'd now all of a sudden be good enough at OT and LG would be a new position for him.

I don't hate the idea of signing him, trying him at RT and if it flops you just move him to RG next year when Onwenu's deal is easy to move on from. Becton was worse than Lowe at OT with the Jets though, so it's risky. People like the idea of Becton because he's massive but it's kind of a tough fit anywhere but RG at this point.
excellent points. I know he was hurt for a couple of those years with the Jets and lost some interest in the game based on reports. Just think if he has matured with the Eagles and is engaged with the right coaching you could really have something. but to your point a lot of ifs..

Just to reiterate, I'm in favor of it because I look at Onwenu's deal and I think it's unlikely he'll be back next year. He's due a $16M salary and $17.5M in cash when you include $1.5M in potential roster bonuses that they can clear off the cap by cutting him. If Becton flops as a LT or LG here, I think RG will be open for him next year to slide back into the spot he had success in for PHI. It's not a bad idea, IMO, to take a flier on him on the left side this year knowing you have RG open next year for him.

MIN fans seem to mostly say he sucks, FWIW. But he's been mentioned as a Center candidate here since the Andrews news earlier.

I know teams don't usually trade for guys after reports like this, but if we did trade for him it'd be a 1 year, non-guaranteed $4.9M deal we assume with another $350K in per game bonuses. Such a low cost that this would be one of those scenarios where, if we want the player, we should just throw a 7th round swap over and not need have to compete for his services where he might have a connection to a coach on another team or prefer playing somewhere else.

With Polk/Baker - they have multiple OC-level guys in the room coaching them. McDaniels OC, Todd Downing WRs coach who was previously an OC, Thomas Brown pass game coordinator who was previously an OC. A lot of experienced coaching all giving them feedback.

Plus, McDaniels' system routinely squeezed production out of lesser talents, and those two guys have talent. If they can take the coaching and grasp the system then they should at minimum be productive, and potentially be solid starters. If they can't, they'll probably get traded.
It should really feel like night and day for Polk and Baker when it comes to coaching.

They can really convince themselves they weren’t at fault last year, even if they were, and start off fresh.

Interesting. He had a very good 2022 season but otherwise has been a little below average. Would be worth a look.

Even if they didn't extend him, it's worth 5 mil and a 7th to have more experienced depth at that position this year as they navigate a post-Andrews world.

Sand here.

I think defenses also had a year to wafch him.

Prediction is last in the East.
Sand?

Bad?

Book on Bradbury at center seems to be that he's a terrific run blocker - one of the best even - but absolute bottom of the barrel as a pass blocker.

Dude looks like the guy who played Merry Brandybuck.

Falcons lost their center so there's an opening. He was born in Charlotte and played college at North Carolina so location wise seems it Atlanta could be his preference over here.

If we are interested, I think it makes sense to trade for him at $5M vs. letting him go to FA.

Good news is, in the NFL, he’ll have no problem having second breakfast or elevensies, even if it’s just Kraft’s bologna sandwiches.
The salted pork is especially delicious.

The guy hasn't had a healthy season since 2021. No one wanted to trade for him. Now he is asking for insane money? I wouldn't be thrilled if the Pats signed the guy, but he is the best of what is left. But if he is asking for insane money, they might as well try to see if they can trade for someone better or at least more reliable who isn't that much of a drop off.

CK: I'm not moving to the east coast for less than $20m.
