That’s kind of a tough conundrum of playing Bourne in a draw for him because idk if they can justify keeping Bourne if they sign a Z/slot like Kupp haha

You gotta play Boutte/Pop over Bourne. Kupp would obviously slot ahead of him. Even if Bourne is better than Hollins, Hollins would be the only capable X receiver really so gotta play him over Bourne. Idk how you could keep Bourne as the 5th WR with no STs ability and not a good option at the X.
Signing kupp doesn’t mean you guarantee Bourne playing time or a roster spot

Free agent guard Mekhi Becton is reportedly interested in re-signing with the #Eagles, with sources familiar with his situation indicating that he is willing to accept a discounted contract.
Becton seeks compensation consistent with his earned value, having been part of the Eagles' Super Bowl-winning team this year. #Eagles #FlyEaglesFly
Messy Bacon was BLASTED AS A LT in NY.
He wasn't good, now he's proven to be pretty good at RG...Yet some here want to sign him as a LT Again
These are not even close to the same spot on the OL.
Did we not learn anything with Chuks last year?

WE GAVE HIM CRAP, Blasted the Jete about him.

Edit: He's obviously better at LT because he played pretty well at RG for the Iggles.

Oh my god.

Are you just trolling?

There is no question how signing bonuses are accounted for against the cap

The issue is that you said they are required to spend to the cap. That is wrong.

As I cited from the CBA there is a minimum CASH spending requirement.
Cap charges have nothing to do with it.
If the cap is $200m per year over 3 years you must spen%d $540m in CASH (90% of 200mx3)
That would put you far under the cap.
I think we're hung up on terminology (probably my bad) and talking past each other. I agree that each team must spend 90% of cap in cash over four year period. My original point that stated this discussion was that owners can't really significantly cheap out given that requirement. The only way to cheap out is to only spend to 90% instead of 100% or to forego up front cash bonuses in order to conserve cash flow.

Joey Bosa to the Bills for $12 million, 1 yr.

LT/RT just became even more important. I know he's lost a lot but still speedy. Can be neutralized by running right at him. Let Onwenu and Moses destroy him

If he can stay healthy, that's an awesome signing. They tried that with Miller, it didn't work out so well.
We'll see, I really don't want to see a healthy Bosa chasing Drake.

Eww effing Bills.

Yeah it did

Trade for a LT and a WR.

90% cash would leave you significantly below the cap.
Thats the point.

All the signing bonus money push into future years counts as cash but not cap.

Willians is 32 million cash and 14 million cap.
90% cash leaves you short of the cap. In other words this rule doesn’t come close to requiring teams to spend to the cap, which was your claim.

Absolutely dumb signing by the Bills. He will be relied upon as Rousseau is mediocre.

Why would you be comfortable with guys who have done nothing but suck being the only options to protect Maye?
More of the same isn’t good, our OL has been atrocious.
Aren’t we supposed to upgrade the guys we claimed off waivers last year?

It stands to reason that if you upgrade 3 or 4 spots along the OL…it will help our “weakest link”.

Sure. Center should be better with Strange if he takes to that position full time. RT should be better with Moses. Onwenu is still Onwenu at RG. So to upgrade a 3rd spot like you say, then either LG or LT needs to be upgraded. Cam Robinson is the only starting LT last year and even though his track record is ok, last year specifically he wasn't really much of an upgrade over Lowe who really wasn't AS BAD as people here say. Robinson/Sow/ at LG truly were horrendous though and the free agents left are decent at that spot, so if you want a third upgrade then that's the spot to target IMO.

We have added 1 player, we haven’t upgraded 3 or 4 spots and you are saying you don’t want to.

Again why would you purposely plan to have no capable player at any starting position?
We currently have an average RG, an average RT, an unknown C/G and league worst starting caliber at 2 spots. We won’t have an above average LT.

But it’s an average.

If the cap is hypothetically $280M for 3 years then the team needs to spend actual cash of $252M per year on average. So if they only spend $150M in cash per year each of the first two years, they need to spend a whopping $456M in cash in the third year to get to the 90% threshold.

You can argue that they could spend more than 90%, and yes, they could. But many people seem to present things as if the Krafts are somehow “hiding” something and only actually spending a fraction of the cap.

In my mind…we are set at RT (including Wallace backing up Moses), RG, C (Whether it is Strange or Andrews….and I like Andrews a lot more than most here do), and that leaves us with LG and LT. Lowe would make a good back up…I don’t think he was THAT terrible last year though. I also think Sow is better suited at guard too.

But fine by me if we sign a bunch of guys and let them all battle it out in camp.

Didn't Sow blow out his ankle last year? I went looking for injury news on this, but I found nothing. I wouldn't be surprised if we heard about that soon.
I don't believe he fell off a cliff.
