From your quote: NFL teams are required to spend a minimum percentage of the salary cap
Cap spending, not cash spending. If you're familiar with accounting, it's like accrual vs cash spending; accrual is what counts against the budget.
Dude can you not read?

They must spend 90% of the cap in CASH

Under the current NFL Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), which was ratified in 2020 and runs through the 2030 season, NFL teams are required to spend a minimum percentage of the salary cap on player compensation over specific periods. Specifically, the CBA mandates that each team must spend at least **90% of the salary cap** in cash over rolling three-year periods (e.g., 2021-2023, 2024-2026, etc.). This is known as the "Minimum Team Cash Spending" requirement.

A REAL TELL ALL BOOK.

"For example, signing bonuses are typically paid to players almost immediately, but their salary cap impact can be protracted.
Signing bonuses are prorated over the life of the contract or five years (whichever is shorter). Although the player receives his cash instantly, his team won’t feel the financial impact immediately."
That has nothing to do with the minimum cash spending requirements. Everyone knows how signing bonuses are accounted for on the cap.

It has nothing to do with your incorrect claim that they must spend to the cap.
The must spend CASH equal to 90% of the cap.

I don't see CASH mentioned anywhere. Obviously we disagree on the meaning of spend: cap or cash.
Will someone else please chime in on this.

I changed the type to red letters
The last sentence also refers to the policy as Minumum team CASH spending requirement

Rams WR Cooper Kupp has shared with some people close to him that he is “curious about the prospect” of playing for the #Patriots, per Andrew Callahan.

Callahan adds that New England is unlikely to trade for him before he is released, but they could have a real shot at signing him.

I would deal one of our 7ths to ensure his services. There’s other teams (LAC, KC, HOU, SF to name a few) that could be appealing to him over us.

I hope they just pick him up as a FA Tomorrow.
NO, he's NOT long term, but he's a professor compared to what we have, dude is a genius, and a TRUE Professional.
1-2 years? He's a good grab IMHO

Then you have to take the contract which is way, way more than his market

He has to think Josh McDaniel would be a good OC for him, would love to play with Maye, and his college teammates and best bud is here, Bourne.

Trade and renegotiate?
NFLPA frowns on pay cuts. What are you going to do, trade for him then threaten to cut him if he doesn’t take a cut?
He’ll say go ahead then I can negotiate with every team

Yet up front bonus (cash) payments are amortized to the cap over the life of the contract and do not count in their entirety the year they're paid.

That’s kind of a tough conundrum of playing Bourne in a draw for him because idk if they can justify keeping Bourne if they sign a Z/slot like Kupp haha

You gotta play Boutte/Pop over Bourne. Kupp would obviously slot ahead of him. Even if Bourne is better than Hollins, Hollins would be the only capable X receiver really so gotta play him over Bourne. Idk how you could keep Bourne as the 5th WR with no STs ability and not a good option at the X.

Free agent guard Mekhi Becton is reportedly interested in re-signing with the #Eagles, with sources familiar with his situation indicating that he is willing to accept a discounted contract.
Becton seeks compensation consistent with his earned value, having been part of the Eagles' Super Bowl-winning team this year. #Eagles #FlyEaglesFly

Good BSJ article about our signings. .

Why did the Patriots sign them? What is the league saying? Giardi brings you that and other nuggets on the new additions.

Oh my god.

Are you just trolling?

There is no question how signing bonuses are accounted for against the cap

The issue is that you said they are required to spend to the cap. That is wrong.

As I cited from the CBA there is a minimum CASH spending requirement.
Cap charges have nothing to do with it.
If the cap is $200m per year over 3 years you must spend $540m in CASH (90% of 200mx3)
That would put you far under the cap.
