First off even if true it may not have been a true 30M/per contract. Secondly.... if really offered that i don't think he turns it down compared to a 22M/yr contract. While i have said we may need to over pay some guys and some may not want to come here.... i don't think anyone is turning down that money. Even with taxes.
I don't know if he has a family, but if the wife said she preferred Tampa and the kids already had their friends and were established in school/sports. When you are already a MultiMillynaire (yes, I know that is not how you spell that) would 8M a year make you say **** you wife and kids?

Just saying more factors than money bro and he is plenty experienced with Tampa's training staff, and he needs them (he read about Duggers misdiagnosis)

Also bodes really well that there are many WRs left in the market

WIll the teams budge or will the players take discounts?

Only explanation for this slow day (not only for the Pats, but the league in general) is there is some major gap between what is being offered and what the remaining FAs want

Makes for a very interesting wednesday
I will admit looking through the list, there’s still some good names out there. But not much is left.

This was a thinner year overall for high end FA’s, usually there’s more dominos to fall than there is this year.

I am comfortable with Sidy Sow, Layden Robinson, and/or possibly Andrews battling for the LG job.....

We have Caden Wallace as back up at RT...Ben Brown/David Andrews backing up at center....Lowe/Jacobs can compete for the swing tackle...if we have enough room on the roster after adding a FA/rookie LT.
Why would you be comfortable with guys who have done nothing but suck being the only options to protect Maye?
More of the same isn’t good, our OL has been atrocious.
Aren’t we supposed to upgrade the guys we claimed off waivers last year?

I don't see any obvious answers at FS out there now, but I could be missing someone.

I thought we were talking about the Chiefs?

Bengals are too cheap and clearly have no sense of how to balance their books. I'd force their hand and watch them end up releasing all those guys.
My bad. You're right. I had the Bengals and Higgins on the brain. So, to your point of the Chiefs being 20M over the cap, are they headed for a nose dive from being SB Champs for at least the next 2 to 3 years? The Patriots under Brady/BB lost 3 SB's, but never got blown out. Did getting their butts kicked by the Eagles damage their Psyche?

Fries to the Vikings for 88 million is like the Williams deal for the Patriots. The Vikings weren’t going to be denied. They would have topped every offer.

Maybe Sow/Robinson/JAndrews end up being good NFL players but sitting here with $70M of cap space or whatever amount we have left and there still being multiple starting caliber and YOUNG guards out there in free agency, I don't see how you can justify penciling one of them in as starters. YUCK.

Strange is a FA next year and Onwenu's deal is set up to be cut next year. There's still opportunity for those guys to make it as starters here if they develop well enough. It's not even like signing someone to start over them now means their career is over.

Wallace was projected by scouts last year as being a better NFL RG than RT. Perhaps that's where they put him when Onwenu goes (even if that's not what they had planned for him under Mayo when they drafted him).

So, what the hell are we doing today? I am guessing we are making travel arrangements for all of our FA's to come in tomorrow to sign stuff....

THEN we will work on the second wave of FA? Right?
The people who choose who we want to sign and negotiate contracts aren’t the people who make travel arrangements.
We were very aggressive day 1, and we got it didn’t get the top guys we targeted.
So based upon who we got it didn’t we reassess and are negotiating with the players that are left.
After the initial wave there is more liklihood that team or player may want to have a visit before agreeing to a deal.

Fine, add him to the mix. He's still not someone who should be penciled into a starting spot now. It doesn't change that they should capitalize on there being good LGs in the market now and developing their youth in backup roles so Maye isn't subject to the possibility that they all flop again.

If they want a safety, seems like Juan Thornhill of the Browns or Julian Blackmon of the Colts could be guys to target. Vrabel should know Thornhill from CLE last year. Both have experience playing deep safety and the speed to profile as a single high guy, which would allow us to take advantage of our man coverage ability at CB.

Is this potentially why we are letting all these safeties fly off the board which we could easily afford? Maybe vrabel feels the cheaper options might be just as effective for us or a better fit?

I hope AB is right.
I would guess he’s still tuned it to Pitt.

Maybe through his probation officer but how well connected the PO is to the Steelers front office is anybody's guess

I thought Holland/Bynum/Reid all would have fit, but I also get not investing a lot into that position. I'm sure they want to be aware of how they're devoting resources to offense vs. defense and even on defense how they're spending on secondary vs. front 7. They signed Davis at CB and recently extended Dugger/Peppers so it's a real chunk of change invested on the backend. To start the offseason I didn't really care because we're so devoid of talent, but the more spots they fill with big-ish contracts the more they have t start thinking about that. They still really need some depth on the EDGE, so might be a better allocation of resources. It's also considered a good safety draft from what I've read.
