Offseason player acquisition thread

Probably means Pickens is gone, because he’s the same type of player so they spend 150 mill and picks to upgrade Pickens to metcalf?

From a pure football perspective, I would sign Pickens in a heartbeat. But he is such a head case and head ache that he is probably not worth it.

LT market might not be as wild as we thought. Stanley got $20M AAV, Matthews gets $22.5M AAV on this extension. These are very good players. Someone like Cam Robinson or Dan Moore shouldn’t crack $16M, and probably not very many years.

Do we take a shot at Beckton, even though he excelled at OG? Maybe try him at OT and if he's not quite there, we know he can play OG. I'd also like Dalman at Center and Mekari who can play OG and OT. Give Marrone as much as they can to work with.

I would prefer to spend the money on DT, LB, FS, CB, and WR. Lots of holes, not enough plugs available in only 1 year.

If the feeling that 2 QBs will be taken in the top 3 holds up, then that means one of Hunter or Carter will fall to pick 4. You will most likely be able to find a team willing to trade up for one of them, even if you don’t get a stellar return: let’s say Hunter falls - the Saints may be willing to come up from 9 for him, in exchange for their two 3rd rounders. Then you take Simmons at 9, and you have your 2nd and three 3rds, which allows you to pick up a lot of guys in the area of the draft that’s probably the best value.
Nobody wants a 3rd rounder to move from 20s to mid 30s. So we end up not finding a draft partner to trade up and end up drafting projects in 3rd round who invariably bust. Don't trade down unless you get a high 2nd in 2025 or round 1 in 2026. Not worth it.

Looks like Seattle could give us 2 seconds to jump to 4 from 18 ?

Or they might ready the ammunition to trade up slightly to draft 2nd or 3rd QB .

That still wouldn't be enough. The original premise for a deal was the one you just mentioned, but with Metcalf thrown-in. 2 #2's and their #18 isn't enough for #4 Overall. Especially with other teams that would want a QB that would offer more. Had they offered the deal you mentioned and Metcalf, that would have been acceptable.

That’s too low unless the Pats are targeting a player in that range
I know what the chart says
I want 18 and this years 2nd rounder and next years 1st
That’s a huge jump into the Top 5
