Josh Simmons only true LT with a 1st Round grade

Donovan Jackson? Could start at LG and has shown the ability to move outside.
At 38 yes that's also an option but I feel that Josh is the best long-term solution. Membou would be the better value at 4 but we don't have the luxury of waiting for these prospects to develop especially if it's at a postion they aren't familiar with or best suited for.

I'm not opposed to Josh Simmons but do you take him at 4 if there's no trade back? There's no way to guarantee he'd be available for a trade back into the first. I agree we shouldn't be taking away development reps from whomever we draft at 4. If we draft Campbell, play him full-time at LT. If we draft Membou, play him full-time at RT.

Lots of plans. One of the back up plans to one of the dingus teams ahead of us when they select Campbell (watching the algorithms on PF Network at 2 or 3 as LG is a need for those two teams, yeah and watch me on Tuesday night if the Browns take Cam Ward) is to trade back, get Simmons for whenever he can play. Fix the OL at 38ish with a/the top G and then go back to BPA in the strength of the draft (DL, etc.). Didn't Madonna have that in one of her songs in the 80s, "Don't ignore the other holes"

No you can't justify taking him at 4 as much as I'd try to convince myself otherwise lol The trade back scenario was and will always be option 2(1 being Carter/Hunter) but that as we keep saying is easier said than done. So I'd select Will/Membou at 4 but would still try hard to get back in the 1st round to select Josh ahead of KC.

if Carter and Hunter go in the top 3, I'm now fully in on taking Membou at #4 and then trading back into like the #18-early 20s range and taking Simmons

but deep down I know it's going to be Campbell at #4 if Carter and Hunter are gone

Got hurt early against Oregon, didn't finish the first half.....From scanning the Marshall game when someone else brought this up, Green lined up on the other side of the line, I didn't see any reps against each other.
So he faced no one of consequence. The Michigan State player he faced will be lucky to be camp fodder for a nfl team.

Just a general question, does anyone else find it somewhat concerning how high Campbell is in his 2 pt stance? I feel like his pad level is quite a detriment. He has alot of ability so he can overcome it in college but not sure he will be able to do that in the NFL.

His height in the 2 pt stance makes me wonder if he has some kind of hip issue. Curious on others thoughts

Simmons is off my board. His arms are only 33".

So does this mean we keep Lowe as our LT since arm length is that important?

Unless this was sarcasm. then I will kindly STFU

It will be really interesting how the draft is going to play out. With no go OTs in FA, teams are going to need to reach. I could see Campbell, Simmons and Membo all coming off the board in quick succession. In what order is the big question. I'm not sold on Membo at 4. Is it possible that Simmons goes much earlier than thought?

If we do trade back its possible that we could miss the run on first round worthy tackles all together.

The rumors are that Vrabel loves Campbell's make up, but is there any thing there as far as the Ohio St connection with Simmons?

I've been toying with the idea that the run on tackles could start prior to the 4th pick.

If you want to build a long term championship team, the management has to use FA to fill needs and draft BPA.
I think most of the time this is the correct way to build the roster.

Why are we drafting #38 and not #36 in the 2nd round?

I've been saying this here on this forum for several years, it's been my observation that every year there are 4 - 6 OT prospects taken in the first round, plus another couple of IOL prospects. Last year there were even more, many of whom "rose" during the period from the end of the CFB season to Day 1 of the draft. I think that reflected the ****ty options in last year's free agency period.

With Stanley and Alaric Jackson off the board, I see no reason to believe this year will be any different from last year. there may be one or two fewer OT prospects taken because last year's crop was deeper for OT than this year's but I expect the following guys to go in the first round this year, perhaps in this order:

• Campbell
• Membou
• Simmons
• Banks
• Ersery

I think Josh Conerly also has a shot to be taken on Day 1, and I expect him and Cam Williams to go in the second round. I expect Ozzy Trapilo to be taken in the third round. Anthony Belton, Charles Grant, Hollin Pierce, maybe Emery Jones are likely in that conversation also. I doubt any of them, or even a Logan Brown or Jack Nelson, makes it past the end of the fourth round.

Guys I think may go as IOLs in the first round include Tyler Booker, Grey Zabel, Jonah Savaiinea, and possibly Donovan Jackson. I think Wyatt MIlum, Marcus Mbow, and Tate Ratledge may go in the second round. I wouldn't be surprised to see Jake Majors, Dylan Fairchild, and Jaret Wison go as IOLs in the third round.

The OL talent situation for the NFL is pretty damn bad, lots of these guys will be overdrafted. Teams with poor evaluation skills for OL, including the Patriots over the past few years (I think its 6 years) are in a terrible position that can only be overcome with great coaching. Even the Chiefs have been atrocious and their head coach is as good as it gets and he came up as a superior OL coach.
