Ashton Jeanty at #4

Bijon is pretty good but I don't want Jeanty if he's not at least close to Bijan. Henry or Sequan are probably too high of expectations. But if I'm taking a back that high he should probably compare to Bijan.
Bijon will have Saquon Barkley's career, if Saquon had stayed healthy.

We need a RB.
Skattebo is a dude. He's going to be a star somewhere, why not here?
If he's there in the late 3rd - we should grab him. I bet he'd take over for Rham in the short down stuff by week 4.
And he could be a 4-down back by year 2.

@Froob . Glad you were able to laugh at that. For the record I have said numerous times that I would be happy if they spent all of their $$$ on the OL and Defensive front 7. Then draft for offense. But I’m open to plenty of other approaches, I just want them to fill the roster with really good players.

Problem is, it’s hard to find quality FAs for OL. I would have loved to get Thuney back. We really need a quality IOL in FA

I’m more concerned about the tackles. Worst case scenario they could get a guy like Wyatt Milum in the 3rd round of the draft, and he’s a really good guard prospect.

RB's have too short of a self life in general. Ashton Jeanty had a great college season but he's not a generational prospect the way guys like Barry Sanders, Ricky Williams, and Saquon Barkley were coming out of college. The OL as it is now would cap his production as a runner. This is a very deep draft at RB, use a later pick on a guy like Omarion Hampton or TreVeyon Henderson.

Not trying to pick on any one poster, just responding to what I think is a popular sentiment in general. Here are his college stats...

2022 - There's plenty of backs who will be drafted to the NFL based on having a single season with stats like that in this years draft
2023 - He catches 43 passes for 569 yards and 5 TD's... Do I have to explain what Josh McDaniels could do with that?
2024 - There's him and there's Barry Sanders... Only two running backs in college history who have ever done that.

I think people will argue he didn't play against the toughest competition enough... That's fair... But do you know how many Boise State players are projected to be drafted from his offense? Just him. He didn't exactly have a lot of help getting those numbers and his tape backs that up, it's just highlight after highlight of him breaking 5 to 7 tackles and turning nothing into massive gains.

I'd encourage anyone to at least youtube him and try not to get at least a LITTLE excited at the prospect of drafting him.

I just don't think a TE has that kind of value. We badly need a blue chip at a critical position, OT, DL/Edge, CB, WR. If you look at the recent history of first round TEs, it's not great.
Gronk and Kelce say hello

Disagree on this. Maye loves throwing to the TE’s. Warren is a great blocker, which they always need. He’s also and excellent receiver and a great big red zone target. He could become Maye’s go to player when he really needs a first down. He would be a great pick.

He's one of my 3rd round binkies.
If they could somehow swing Arroyo/Skattebo with the 3rd rounders, I'd be quite happy.

An every down rb who also catches passes has more value to an offense than most TEs.
I would be OK with Warren at 6-10

Neither were first round
Sure, but if you figure that this kid is a generational talent at TE you’d pass him up because it’s the 1st round? You think every team in the league if they could have a re-do wouldn’t have used their 1st pick on Gronk or Kelce?

Are we sure he's a generational talent?

"Generational" is the most overused hyperbolic term used by the media today.
It implies once in a generation's (20-30 years).
Using that definition..no he is not generational. Saquon Barkley and Bijon Robinson were generational talents.

I do think the comparison to Ladainlian Thompson may not be far off. A dynamic running and receiving pass catching threat.
At 4, if Carter and Hunter are gone...there really aren't any blue chip elite can't miss talents available. I think Jeanty is the closest to that level at his position.

Of course the Pats won't pick him at 4...but I think he should be under consideration.
