Ashton Jeanty at #4

He would do that without an OL?

I think he would immediately improve their run game even if they did nothing else, but I expect Vrabel to make several additions to the OL in free agency, and I doubt he would use #4 on a RB or other position than OL if he didn’t.

You would throw up until you saw him leaving Maye in 2nd down and 3, and 3rd and short over and over.
You can get a back later in the draft. Go with line, I'd even take a wr. That's how much I loathe a rb with a first round pick

Loathe it all you want, Jeanty is a really good player and he would make them a much better team.

Bijon Robinson is a lot better than Ashton Jeanty. A LOT better.
Bijon is pretty good but I don't want Jeanty if he's not at least close to Bijan. Henry or Sequan are probably too high of expectations. But if I'm taking a back that high he should probably compare to Bijan.

The Eagles made a huge mistake signing Saquon Barkley. They will never live that down.
How did Barkley on the Giants work out? That's Jeanty on the Pats.

The Eagles were a Super Bowl contender without Saquon Barkley, he was a finishing piece running behind the best offensive line in the league.

The Patriots are the dregs of the league and suck at almost every position and have almost no elite players, Jeanty on the Pats is like having a Bugatti and living under a bridge.

Can't stop the run, can't protect the QB, can't rush the QB, have no one who's anything beyond a WR4 on a playoff team so no it's not comparable to the Eagles and even they wouldn't draft Jeanty at #4 they'd just sign him a free agent from the bad team who picked him in the top 5.

If Carter and Hunter are gone
He will be highest rated player left and best player available
He is a beast

Game changer who will boost run and pass game and make Maye’s life easier

Get OL in free agency and round 2
Campbell- arms too short
Graham- too light

I mean...I'd laugh at how pissed it would make patriots media/local talking heads around here...But I wouldnt be completely against it. He is clearly going to be a stud I would just be kind of hesitant because our line sucks. At least right this second anyways.

If hunter and carter are both gone there is no next player that kind of jumps out at you like 'ooo I want that guy'. I was kind of hoping it would be Graham but the combine made me sour on him a little bit.

Ashton Jeanty is a running back. If you draft a running back at #4, he better be the next coming of Barry f'in Sanders. Otherwise, you don't take a RB in the 1st round anymore.

You're ASSUMING he'll be the highest rated player on the Pats board.

Where do you get that Mason Graham is "Too Light"? Seriously. Unless he's 6'1 and 255 his weight will be FINE to play at a DE position.
Unless Campbell's arms are 30in, they'll be fine. Or did you forget that Matt Light's arms were 32in and he played as a top 10 OT for several years.

With Jackson having re-signed with LA and the rumors going strong that Stanley is going to re-sign, you'll be looking a a Questionable Cam Robinson and the LT who allowed the MOST pressures of any LT in the league last year in Dan Moore. What "O-line" are they going to add that will IMPROVE the OT position.

Cam Robinson - 1073 snaps - 685 pass blocking - 8 sacks, 7 hits, 49 hurries (Includes playoffs) 13 Penalties
Dan Moore - 1128 snaps - 627 pass blocking - 12 sacks, 3 hits, 26 hurries - 5 penalties
Vederian Lowe - 802 snaps - 501 pass blocking - 5 sacks, 5 hits, 23 hurries, 13 penalties (*627 pass blocking snaps, 6-7 sacks, 6-7 hits, 29 hurries)

The Pats need help on BOTH lines. They drafted only ONE OT last year when they should have drafted TWO. They added an OG who was a very bad fit for the blocking scheme in Robinson. It made ZERO sense when they already had Strange, Sow, J. Andrews and a host of vets who had experience playing at OG. The Pats are more likely to get better players for the Front 7 in Free Agency the way things are shaping up. Which makes last year's screwup with Robinson that much more brutal.

The only way that Jeanty, Tet, or Hunter should be on the Pats radar is if they can't find a partner to trade back with. The three are a luxury that the Pats can't afford until the O-line and Front 7 are solidified.
Him weighing 296 was kind of bizzare. I wonder why he dropped 25 pounds. I'd be satisfied if we drafted him especially with Barmore's situation though. He feels very safe.

How did the Raiders do with Randy Moss?

How did the Lions do with Calvin Johnson?

I guess they shouldn’t address wide receiver in the draft because those teams still sucked with Hall of Fame wide receivers on them.

The Patriots do need help everywhere, that’s why they should take great players wherever they find them.

Jeanty isn’t my first choice by any stretch of the imagination, I just won’t be upset if they take him,

But they can be greatly impactful while they are good, and some last quite a while.
We won four games and are getting killed in the trenches on both sides of the ball.

As a philosophy I don't take RBs this high. There's so much better value at RB later in the draft. We need to fix the line.

I’d take Tyler Warren or reach for Armand Membou

I just don't think a TE has that kind of value. We badly need a blue chip at a critical position, OT, DL/Edge, CB, WR. If you look at the recent history of first round TEs, it's not great.

Agree but there’s no true blue chips left if Hunter and Carter are gone which is the question. Both Warren and Membou are reaches but both have the chance to be elite prospects if they hit

Mason Graham? I'd rather go Tet than Warren.

No ****, really? You’re the first person I have heard say that. I thought they were in the AFC Championship game last year.
