Interior OL

Light was listed at 6'5 and 305. Although his Combine list's him as 6'4 and three quarters and 311 and with 33 and a half inch long arms, size 9 hands.
For some reason I'm thinking of Thuney not Matt light.. silly me LOL.. but yes so they pretty much have the same stats... of course swing in FA for a guy but it seems Stanley may be reupping with Baltimore.. Campbell just feels like the right choice.

There are no needs vs wants for the team this year because they suck at everything.

We have the worst OL in the NFL.
We have the worst receivers in the NFL.
Our RBs room is one of the worst in the NFL.
Our EDGE defenders are worst in the NFL.
Our interior DL is worst in the NFL if Barmore can't be counted on.
Our LB group is one of the worst in the NFL.
Our box safeties are good but we have no viable coverage FS.
Our CB room sucks outside of Gonzo.

Until they make substantial progress across the board there, they will continue to suck. All of those spots are needs.
Truth! And it hurts. However, when you know the truth, you're on the right path to addressing what needs to be addressed.

This year, LT's and WR's won't be available (at least not premium young ones or older ones that'll improve us while we get their replacements over the next 2 to 3 years). In the meantime, the players they can get-Josh Sweat, Milton Williams, Zack Baun, and some other still young FA defensive players will help immensely now and in the future. They just have to keep Maye healthy somehow and let him get another season under his belt. It's just a bad FA OT offseason and same for WR's. Get what we can now, then next year through the draft and FA we may find what we need.

I wouldn't mind him on a Trade Down but not @ 4.

They have bodies but how many of them have a stranglehold on a roster spot? Andrews is in the very twilight of his career if his body allows it to continue at all. Onwenu is potentially gone after this year with the ‘26 cap hit. Strange is coming up on a contract. Sow had a promising start but regressed last year. The rest are young and unproven.

Seriously anyone know what happened to Sow? He was okay then just gone. I wouldn’t give up on him yet. What did I miss? Was is a staff thing or did he just suck?

I disagree it's a bad year for free agent LTs. Free agency, in general, isn't really a viable route for LT. I think this is probably as good a class as you can hope for in LT, to be honest.

We have to give him Protection we have up the Most Pressures in the League: we're lucky he wasn't carted off. We Need competent Tackles to Stop the Bleeding. Also we need Doug Marrone to work some magic along the OL: we haven't been Coached well there since Scar.

Get in line for the answer to that question and stop cutting people.

A lot of people here are talking about trading down, but given how flat the draft is between 4 and 10, we likely can't find a trade partner unless some team really wants that second QB.

Campbell at LT might have trouble against some elite rushers, but most of the time he should be fine. And he's super mobile, so should be able to help in the run game. Worst case he ends up as a very high-end guard - not a bad thing as we see more and more interior pressure from elite rushers.

I think some of it might be scheme. He's a better fit in the gap blocking scheme and they've been trying to incorporate more zone concepts in recent years.

I wouldn't give up on him but I also don't think they can count on him. DAndrews may or may not be washed but either way he's here for one more year at most IMO. Onwenu's deal is structured in way that makes him a very likely cut candidate next year because it's too much money unless he's an elite level guard. Strange is a FA after this year with an enormous 5th year option relative to what he's been so far.

Guys like Sow, Layden Robinson, JAndrews might all look like afterthoughts now, but they should be given opportunities to improve because unless some of them do improve I don't think it's out of the question that all 3 interior OL spots week 1 2026 could be guys currently not on the roster.

How can you disagree with it's a bad year for FA LT? Isn't that what I stated when I said that they are either not available or not coming to us? Stanley would have been a good Stop-Gap until we got his replacement within a 2 to 3 year time frame. Jackson was young enough to have possibly given us several years. But he resigned with the Rams and Stanley will probably resign with the Ravens. There's rarely ever a good year for any solid LT in FA as they are seldom available. If Banks Jr. or Campbell can be the 2nd coming of Matt Light, then great. But the others in this draft are no sure things when it comes to plug and play LT's.

I think we're splitting hairs here. My point is that if solid LTs are seldom available in free agency, is it a bad year when there actually are some? I think relative to what is typically available in free agency at LT, this is actually a relatively strong class. Stanley and Robinson might fall into more of the stop gap category, but I think they're higher caliber than the normal stop gaps. And even though Dan Moore Jr. isn't an ideal starter at LT, I think it's rare for someone as that's even just as good as him to be available going into their age 27 season.

With any of those guys, it remains something that probably needs to be taken care of via the draft longer term.

Long term through the Draft? Absolutely agree! And I'm sure we both agree that we CANNOT trot out the same horrid OL that we did last year and hope to keep Maye healthy, let alone help him to continue his trajectory to being a true Franchise QB (which he's shown both the talent and mindset to be). Which will be much more difficult if he gets injured due to the OL, let alone seriously so.

I wouldn’t give up on him but also wouldn’t count on him.

Last year was chaos so he may well bounce back.

They definitely need to be better on the OL. Running it back seems almost like an impossibility practically speaking when you consider that two of our projected starters were out injured (Strange, DAndrews) and the fact that we have the most cap space and a full slate of draft picks. Our starting 5 on snap counts last year was Vederian Lowe/ Michael Jordan / Ben Brown / Mike Onwenu / Demontry Jacobs. One of the guys was already cut in Jordan and replaced with Layden Robinson (6th on the team in OL snaps). It's hard to fathom that just between guys coming back and even low end investments they wouldn't have 3 new starters.

Where I disagree with the consensus here is that I'm not as keen on the balls to the wall, screw everything else and only focus on LT approach as some. I'm just not as lasered in on one position in particular. Like we agreed earlier, this team is garbage all over. I hope for lots of incremental progress, but I hardly view this as a 1 year fix. I hope they plug a lot of holes with viable long term options, but I accept that some might only be addressed on a stop gap/short term basis to the point we're sitting here next year with the same need, and even some of those stop gaps might flop and leave is with a hole this year again. I value the OL position very highly so I hope that to every extent possible we start addressing the 5 spots there long term. With my view that Onwenu will be gone after this season due to the structure of his deal, I don't feel confident projecting that even a single starter from our 2026 week 1 OL is currently under contract. BUT I'm also willing to accept if the draft board and free agent pool leaves some of those spots unaddressed, including LT. I hope we can land someone, but it is what it is if not.

Given how difficult it is to find a quality starting LT in free agency, I think that we are undervaluing Campbell. This is a poor draft. Getting s starting LT at 4 would be a success.

Even if he ends up being a top LG who can back up LT, we will have filled a major need, a 5-year starter on the oL.

I hope Strange transitions fully and successfully to Center. It's a difficult position to address via draft and almost impossible in free agency. We need a long term answer there, Andrews thank you very much but he is done.

Easier to find a LG or even draft one to develop.

Not every failed OT prospect can just transition into being a high level guard. If part of your thought process for drafting a player is that if they fail at their natural position then they could be a high end starter at a position they’ve never played before… that should kind of raise some questions if you actually like the player or if you just want yourself to like the player.

I thought that many mediots think that Campbell's next chance for success in the NFL is at LG.

But, yes, you are correct.

I am indeed trying to convince myself that Campbell is good enough to be our LT for the next 5 years.
