Joe Milton is a "better option" than any QB available in this year's NFL Draft.

And yet he fell to the 6th round when every single team in the NFL had several attempts to select him.
Hmm, has that ever happened before?

#12?

Really? Why? Because that one touchdown he had?

They won that game on special teams.

The better argument is actually that they won the Superbowl because their backup (Brady) was a competent NFL player.
Without Bledsoe stepping in and stepping up when Brady was injured Steelers are playing the Rams as AFC champs.

I definitely agree with your better argument.

Or i think an even better way of saying it would be that they won that Super Bowl because they had two starting caliber NFL QBs.

And that’s exactly the point about keeping or trading Milton.

I agree he's got value as a member of this team, both to protect us in case of a Maye injury and for some custom packages Josh makes up for him. But any player gets traded for the right offer, and a 1st rounder would be impossible to pass up.

The other thing about Milton is he's got swag. Very confident, he's ready to lead. Part of this maturity may be his age (turns 25 next week), but he's got that going for him. He checks most of the boxes. A buyer gets a ready-to-go QB.

Sell high while we have the opportunity. Hoard those precious draft picks.

Draft picks generally aren't worth diddly, because of the bust rate. If someone wants this guy badly, have them solve a couple of the glaring holes in the starting lineup. Have them throw draft picks in as conditionals...if he plays in more than X games in the next two years, the Pats get Y draft pick in the '27 draft. But get players. Hoarding draft picks is a fantasy football dopamine addiction.

I don’t think you understand the conversation we are having because using Brady as an example supports my point.

No one was going to trade a top round pick for Tom Brady after his first year in the NFL where he only played in one game (which he didn’t even start). His draft value didn’t magically rise across the NFL after holding a clipboard in New England for a year.

Yeah, definitely not trying to compare the two, but another well known Pats QB fell to the 6th round too.
Anything someone says before the word but is horseshit.

See above response for why the comparison to Brady only helps prove my point.

I am not talking about how good Milton may or may not be, I am talking about his draft value. Last year his draft value was 6th round. Nothing has happened in the past year which has magically raised that value by the ridiculous amount some in here think it has. He is just another in an endless list of Patriots players overvalued by the denizens of this board.

I can't see any team offering high on Milton, given the lack of tape on him showing much of anything.
his college tape alone, had him lasting 6 rounds.
his 1 game of tape in the NFL was against a team playing both vanilla ad back ups.
his physical traits are enticing, but if the Pats hope to trade him for day 1 or 2 picks, they need to showcase him some more.
other teams would be derelict to offer high on Milton given what they know and do not know about him

I would wait. Maye getting hurt is not beyond the realm of possibility. I’d rather have Milton that some washed vet.

I would like for them to sign Andy Dalton who is comfortable in the backup/teaching role, and he was actually a hot pocket passer/franchise QB for some years. But it seems he developed some friendship with Bryce Young and wanted to stay in Carolina.

Maye needs to protect himself, it's a fact, but finding another backup QB is easy.

No problem.

Let the QB needy teams use high 1st round picks and fight over Ward and Sanders.

They are very likely to be franchise QBs.

Right?

We don’t need to trade Milton, and he provides a lot of value to the Pats.

I'm not concerned about the INT's with Maye Wozzy. He had no OL and No weapons. Payton Manning threw a ton of INT's as a rookie. He'll be fine. But your point is taken.
I agree it’s something Maye can fix and he’s a very bright kid, I anticipate he will.

That being said, there is zero rush to rid ourselves of Milton. He’s under contract through 2027 and paid peanuts. Carry two great young QB prospects and let competition sort it out. Milton’s value should only grow if the team improves.

So Milton is as good as Bledsoe?

It is threads like this that make Pats fans the absolute laughing stock of the league. I am serious. Other forums come here and take our posts so they can laugh at threads like this. People demanding a first round pick for Bazooka Joe. Hahahaha. He was drafted in the 6th round, threw for 1 TD, ran for 1 TD, and threw for under 250 yards while only playing in one game against backup. What is wrong with you people? Anyone wanting a 1st round pick is completely delusional and out of their minds. If someone offers a 3rd, you grab it and run to the bank. I personally don't want to trade him. He has value as our #2.

So we're supposed to think Mallett, Stidham, Zappe, Milton is Tom Brady now? Yikes.

No.

Of course not.

Use that to high first on Ward or Sanders.

Championship….
