Lazar on WR Draft

I don't think we need receivers slower than the ones we already have.
His comp is Danny Amendola. Like Amendola and Edelman, not great straight line speed, but very quick, shifty, and gets open. I think Restrepo could be good in Josh’s system.

Higgins likely gonna be tagged and read Godwin gonna re-up with the Bucs. Looking more and more that we will need to get our WR in the draft. Was watching a draft show yesterday and they said there is a huge drop off after the top 4: McMillen, Burden III, Golden, and Egbuka. They said there’s basically tier 1 (those 4) and then it drops to tier 3.

I think we will need to get back into round 1 to get one of them.

He's definitely no Danny Amendola. I've watched every game this kid's played the last two years. He uses leverage well, and has a good motor - he keeps moving when the play breaks down. But he's slow off the line, and struggles against bigger (or better-quality) defenders. Pop Douglas is a better slot receiver, and he's already here.

His whole career in college hasn’t been spectacular, but he’s legit physical, huge and fast. I’d hate to miss out on that level of raw talent
In the 6th Round? Sure!

Jalon Walker is being predicted to go around pick #8. He's listed at 6'2-6'3 and 245lbs. But, he runs and moves like a fast SS. He can play every LB position and EDGE. I've said on here before that he could be one of those players that people wondered why he wasn't taken in the Top 3. There's NO REASON why we shouldn't come out of this draft with TWO RB's that turn out to be STUDS (as the RB class is that deep), and not some PS caliber RB's, but legit could start as rookies types. I would take one in the 4th Round and one in the 5th (or 2 in the 4th). If another team would take Stevenson (even if we have just a minimal cap hit and only get a 5th through 6th Rounder in return), I'd replace him with Najee Harris, who's a month younger.

After securing Alaric Jackson, I'd sign Josh Sweat, Milton Williams, and either trade a late round pick for Rashan Gary or sign Bryce Huff. Paulson Adebo (if his leg is good to go), would be a good and young CB addition. I would even get Beckton and keep him at LG next to Jackson at LT. I would not be oppossed to trading for George Pickens. Perhaps Vrabel and this staff, a long with Maye and a general change of scenery will give us a somewhat close to a young #1 WR.
Get the Ohio kid Hendrickson . He is my binkie along with Josh conerly Jr.

If we don't get Carter and somebody wants to trade up to 4 and gives decent draft capital say multiple 2s and 3rd to trade down to mid 15s we should do it .

This year is developmental and we need most number of young players to play and see how they develop . And based on smaller number of gaps get vets and draft remaining pieces in 2026 to build a contender while building a young core like Green Bay who on rookie contracts can help us to contend for championship in 27,28 and 29.

I'm certainly not opposed to trading down. It might even be the best thing for the team (depending on who they draft and other such moves with those picks). I'm still on the fence with doing so.

Fast isn't everything, look at Boldin, he ran a 4.77..4.77...yet he was SMART, and knew where to be..Funny, Cooper Kupp sucked at this... Edelman was mediocre.

You think Bolding was a bumb?

Some guyys look at the defense and KNOW where to go, because they have a BRAIN
Thornton didn't get it, as many do not.

I'd be thrilled with a very young Edelman and/or Amendola. But only if we have legit #1 and #2 WR's. Granted, we might not get those #1 and #2 WR's this year, but I suspect that we'll be well on our way of having them by Year 2 of Vrabel as HC.

I actually remember watching Preseason/Draft when Boldin was drafted, he was pretty far back, undrafted in fantasy...
I watched the 1st 2 game starts in text, and grabbed him in Fantasy.
I won that year, and he was 1 of the reasons why.
Speed isn't everything.

Is this Anquan Boldin you're talking about? He was taken in the 2nd round. Also like 6'2" 230 with great ball skills, used to bully guys with contested catches, and ran excellent routes, which made him lethal on comebacks. Oh, and also played next to Larry Fitzgerald.

Edit: Speed isn't everything, but if you don't have speed, you need to be incredible in other areas to make up for it. Hands, moves, leverage, short-area quickness.

I don't think Restrepo is better than Pop Douglas, it's a waste of a draft pick if they take him.

I was referring to STATS 420, Some here look at 40's and such, Ross guys immediately...
You should know by now that I do NOT.

I mean, Boldin was taken in the 2nd round, it's not like he was some neglected underdog coming into the draft, and was hugely productive at Florida St. I guess that's why I'm not understanding your point.

When I say Restrepo's slow, it's because he plays slow, and makes all of his hay from leverage against dogshit competition. He's actually really good with leverage, and has good hands, but he's not a crisp route-runner. His strengths are leverage and motor, which are good things to have if you don't have a slot receiver already. Pop Douglas is better than him. You can't play Restrepo on the outside, he's not tall enough or fast enough, or a good enough route-runner. So he'd be sitting behind Pop Douglas on the bench - and the Patriots need players who can play. That's my only point.

McConkey, 4.39, STRAIGHT LINE COMBINE, RUNNING FAST.
HE didn't do outside the line left Right, and he ran full speed. He caught everything running STRAIGHT Down the line, and missed nothing.
Some lesser slow it and move off the middle line.
McConkey WAS the pick by a ****in' longshot.
We've made mistakes over the years, but this is path6.

What, you don't like Ja'lynn Polk?

I certainly wouldn't waste the draft capital trading up for any of those guys....if a #1 Alpha WR falls in your lap, sure take him....but there are much more important pieces to get while building team.

You may have enjoyed watching Maye throw to hot garbage last year, but most of us realize we need to upgrade our skill position’s.

I'm aware, I'm also aware they need to rebuild the online, and change over most of the defense......on top of that, this draft doesn't look to have what we need, a true #1, and I don't want to spend more draft capital on 3s and 4s this year.
