Lazar on WR Draft

I'm guessing they try to grab one of Stanley or Jackson and settle for someone like Cooper Kupp on the WR side - there are no elites to be had, and so a reliable experienced adult in the WR room is worth a lot. That would open up a lot of possibilities on the draft side - could focus on BPA rather than need. There doesn't seem to be a lot of spread between the fourth and say tenth picks, so don't expect to get a big haul for dropping down a few slots (unless someone really needs a QB).
If we can trade back and grab Jalon Walker, an extra 2nd round in this draft and a 1st round pick next year, that would be ideal IMHO.

The Draft is loaded for the Defense with more more value/depth in what you are drafting.

You're basically fired.
I definitely hear you, but OT and WR are also positions where good talent rarely ever hits free agency, so you have to try to target those spots in the draft with more urgency.

You can go best-player-available and probably have a killer defense, but if your offense is still stuck in neutral most of the time, it doesn't do you a lot of good. Even so, just a serviceable line and serviceable receivers, plus Drake, is probably enough to challenge for the 7 seed if the defense is really good.

I’ll say again, over the last 10 years no team has invested more in the oline position than the Giants.

They have a bottom 1/3rd line to show for it.

Just saying you want to fix the line and make it your priority doesn’t mean overspending and over drafting because that’s the magic position group is going to yield fruit. It likely means you ended up pissing away assets and let players that could help your team slip away because you didn’t find it they key big thing

I'd prefer Jackson too because he's young. And, with good OL coaching could be even better. He wouldn't have to be a short term answer at LT. At #4, I'd take Abdul Carter (but he won't be there anyway). After him, I'd want to come away from this draft with Mason Graham or Jalon Walker in the 1st Round (even in a trade-back. I suspect that Walker is going to be a stud, even to the point that I would take him at #4). We also need one or two quality RB's. Snagging a WR that can turn out to be a legit #2 WR would be a must.
Me too. Jackson is the guy we should be entertaining first and foremost. Send the plane out for him.. and never let him leave Foxborough should be the first order of business. Graham absolutely.. not to familiar on walker I'll admit. But I take your word on him. Yes rham I like...but the fumbles are concerning... I think rham might be moved this offseason.. so gibby my guy is the main back who can do it all. Adding some quality depth behind him is essential.

We simply need to go back to the basics having 5 startingOL that play sound together and create lanes for the running game.. one thing I love about Vrabel is that he will be on these guys asses come camp. Let's see how many of them are riding bikes throughout the locker room this year.

Jalon Walker is being predicted to go around pick #8. He's listed at 6'2-6'3 and 245lbs. But, he runs and moves like a fast SS. He can play every LB position and EDGE. I've said on here before that he could be one of those players that people wondered why he wasn't taken in the Top 3. There's NO REASON why we shouldn't come out of this draft with TWO RB's that turn out to be STUDS (as the RB class is that deep), and not some PS caliber RB's, but legit could start as rookies types. I would take one in the 4th Round and one in the 5th (or 2 in the 4th). If another team would take Stevenson (even if we have just a minimal cap hit and only get a 5th through 6th Rounder in return), I'd replace him with Najee Harris, who's a month younger.

After securing Alaric Jackson, I'd sign Josh Sweat, Milton Williams, and either trade a late round pick for Rashan Gary or sign Bryce Huff. Paulson Adebo (if his leg is good to go), would be a good and young CB addition. I would even get Beckton and keep him at LG next to Jackson at LT. I would not be oppossed to trading for George Pickens. Perhaps Vrabel and this staff, a long with Maye and a general change of scenery will give us a somewhat close to a young #1 WR.

I like it... on Gary you have the best seat in the house in GB on him.. love his motor and his attitude say rham for Gary?? I've heard if he traded him post June 1 we only take on like a 1.2 cap hit.. as his deal has only 16 million guaranteed. 37 million deal. Josh sweat I like.. but is a huge benefit of Williams and Carter up front.. we don't have anything at DT of that caliber. I like BJ hill at DT, chase young at DE or Gary.. chavaious ward or DJ Reed at CB2.. our safeties are great.. I like 2nd year player pettus.. I believe he will end up being peppers eventual replacement once peppers deal is up. Huff is a FA?? We need our pressure to start at the defensive line that way our LBs can blitz and handle TEs and backs out the backfield as Vrabel and Williams are running a one-gap system..

They sat Huff for the SB. I believe he was originally signed to a three year deal, so he has 2 years remaining. I think they're open to trading him and it wouldn't cost much, especially after recovering from an injury which is now healed and rehabbed (and he's only 26). The Packers also need a replacement for A.J. Dillon I believe. His one year deal has ended and he was injured towards the back half of the season. I'd do a straight up swap Stevenson for Gary (as Gary is said to be available for a mid or late round pick). We might be able to get Gary and Dillon (as I understand Dillon is 26 and a FA and his injury wasn't serious).

Deal!! We'll send a plane for gary.. lol.. yeah huff was good in NY.. but if he's not getting the PT that means he fell out the rotation.. he's a starter here... one things for sure Vrabel's going to have this defense playing with aggressiveness.

Hang this post in the louvre!!! Sticky it to the top of every threat lol

Drafting or signing a player doesn't solve anything if they aren't good. Sometimes marginal improvement but still a less than ideal player is the best you can do and worthwhile pursuing, but the problem with that attitude on big money or high signings is that the opportunity cost of what else you could do with that money/pick is often a much better piece at another position. Fixate on current needs all you want, but most of NFL rosters churn over every 3-4 years so before you even get to the end of the rookie contracts of guys you take in any given year your entire roster and team needs are going to be totally different in most cases so you can't only focus on the current.

My binky in this draft is Xavier Restrepo. We need a vet X receiver on the outside in FA. Then pair Restrepo with Pop in a dual slot like Edelman and Amendola. Butte or Bourn then at Z. That's not the greatest offense yet, but I think we need to build the lines first and then WR will follow. The list of good WR hitting FA next year is long. I would not mind switching Pop or Bourne for Kirk, Kupp, or Deebo. I suppose you have to keep Polk one more season and Baker has to be the second coming of Randy Moss to make this team after training camp.
I don't think we need receivers slower than the ones we already have.

I take a flier on that Dionte Thornton kid from Tennessee.

Only reason I remembered the name is I saw literally one Tennessee game and he was a beast:

6’5
4.43

That’s a day two reach or an early day three grab and worth a shot

I'm familiar with him. Is it silly that his last name makes me uneasy? Do I have a mild form of a type of PTSD?

I don’t think he did a damn thing that whole bowl game, much like the rest of the team. But I think he lead the team in YPC two years straight and you can teach that size and speed

I suppose that's why he has a 6th Round Draft Grade.

I don't think you know what you are talking about. Julian Edelman ran a 4.52 40 at the combine. Restrepo's fastest was a 4.45 and then a 4.58 unofficially. We will see how he does in a few weeks at the Combine. Did you know Jerry Rice was a 4.71? How about Danny Amendola 4.58? We hate Puka Nacua and his 4.57, right? He is a slow bum. Wes Welker was a 4.56. We would never take any of these guys. The slot does not need a burner. It needs someone who changes direction quickly.

His whole career in college hasn’t been spectacular, but he’s legit physical, huge and fast. I’d hate to miss out on that level of raw talent

Jerry Rice retired 21 years ago.

Restrepo hasn't run the 40 at the combine yet, those numbers are hand-timed. If he goes faster than 4.65 I'd be really surprised. He's not just straight-line slow, he's slow off the line. The reason he had success was because being the the slot allowed him to go against a team's 3rd best corner, and in the ACC, these are barely division 1 guys.

He uses leverage well. That would be awesome if he were a 6'4" tight end, but he's not. He's just a slow 5'10" slot receiver. A lot less Julian Edelman and a lot more TJ Moe.
