2025 Draft: WRs

Not too worried about WR now I think we can get a Steal in this Draft.
Nash looks good but we don't need another zero separation guy. SJS faced weak competition so it is easier to stack the stats.

How fast is he? How quick is he? Can he separate with his route running? We need separation.

I like Bech a lot but he seems to be taking a Polk like rise up the board. Most people had him as a late 3rd a week ago. Seen him consistently in the 2nd now. By April we will have to take him at 38.

Good news is, there seems to be a lot of late risers right now all across the board. Kind of makes it moot a little.

Other than my two binkies, Chism and Kyle Williams, I've really started to like Jalen Royals and Pat Bryant in the 3rd or 4th rounds. Royals is your deep threat X receiver and Bryant is.....I was going to say Jayden Higgins-lite, but in truth, I don't think there's that much of a gap between them.

I watched Luther Burden early in the draft process and wasn't overly impressed. However I started watching him again yesterday and now really like what I see. He's jumped Egbuka quite considerably for me.

But what did it for me was someone giving Burden the player comp of Terry McLaurin. I rewatched Mclaurin and Burden back to back and could definitely see the comp, particularly if you watch his 2023 tape.

I'd never really considered Burden before now because it never really felt we could draft him (he's somewhere in the middle between 4 and 38). However, if he starts slipping towards 38, he'd be someone I'd be very interested in.

Burden's overall Combine is going to be key. I don't think he'll be a First Rounder: his tape is just not impressive. Burden's 40 and 3 Cone is what I'm most intrigued about. Regarding Egbuka I really like him he seems like Jack of all trades type player. Matthew Golden looks like a First Round Player.

Burden's 2023 tape looks to be better than '24. New QB? OC? I liked Egbuka until yesterday when I rewatched him and realised he body catches everything. I don't think I saw a single hand catch on his highlight tape. I really don't like body catchers.

On Egbuka I don't like body catchers either but if they get separation it won't matter much. Egbuka seems to separate well at the Top of his Routes.

He does, but he's going to the NFL. Separating aint going to be so easy and in that case, I want a receiver who has the increased catch radius that body catchers just don't have.

That probably can be corrected on the Pro level. Don't think we'll be in position to get Egbuka anyway: that said I like others ie... Harris - Higgins - Noel - Bech just to name a few. IF we have reservations which we should about Polk and Baker: we should get two WR's in this Draft. We Need a X-WR on Day 3 like that kid from Georgia A Smith. Ricky White would be very tempting in the Third Round.

Plus you don't want him to be afraid of contact if a ball isn't thrown perfect.

Never mind you said day 3 lol I read that as round 3

We've got to address the OL at some point.

I wonder how many WR1s were drafted on day 3. It's fun for us to speculate about day 3 values, but we have to recognise that the chances of a day 3 skill position player being more than squad depth is minimal and that's assuming they even make the roster.

Garbage in garbage out as my old boss would say.

Which is why I go back to hoping the evaluations of these WRs is more scrutinized than others. I want to know that they are intelligent enough and have a passion for winning. I don't want a diva who thinks he knows everything which is what it seems like we ended up with last year.

I'm not necessarily looking for a #1 more like a #2 ceiling guy: some Teams get em in the Third and Fourth Rounds. I think they're some Sleepers in this Draft at WR. Also there's sure to be a Run on Offensives Tackles - DE's and DT's. Some guys at WR and RB are going to fall through the cracks great value.

I think JaCorey Brooks fits what you are looking for.

Here's another I just found...

Isaiah Neyor Nebraska

WR Kyren Lacy is he off everyones Draft Board?? I would take a flier in the 7th or bring him in as a Priority UDFA.

I still don't think Burden falls out of the 20's. Could be interesting if we really moved down to stockpile picks, though. I do like him.
