I have seen his name tied to every single theoretical trade proposal thats been made this off season...

my particular favorite one was Milton straight up for Myles Garrett... lol, sure, I'd do that in a heart beat... not sure cleveland would though...

so whats he worth, if anything, on the trade market?

my personal opinion is he's worth nothing.

Id wager a 4th to a desperate team, but I honestly have no ****ing clue. Against the Bills he showed he was coachable, athletic, that he belonged on the 53. That’s the most you have gotta be hoping for out of a 4th rd qb, right? So, why not trade the unknown for the known. That’s my line of thinking anyway.

He was a 6th rounder.

He's better than every QB coming out this year except Ward and Sanders, is on an incredibly cheap 6th round contract for 3 more years, and showed he's improving dramatically. He turns 25 next month, entering his physical prime. He should be worth a 2nd. If you're a QB needy team considering Milroe or Dart in r2, why not trade for Milton?

The pick he was drafted at is irrelevant. I see a lot of sportswriters say he was a 6th rounder so getting a 4th rounder for him is good business. That's BS.

He's worth quite a bit to us as a backup and would prefer to keep him tbh but we should not listen to any offers worse than a second rounder unless it's part of a deal with a player.

I’d have to see more nfl action from him before I would trade a 2nd. If we had neither Maye or Milton, you’d be good waking up and seeing the Pats traded a 2nd rounder for him? All it takes is one team I guess.

Absolutely. I agree that when Milton was picked is irrelevant.

What is relevant is how well he did as a rookie. Was Milton OROY? Was in the discussion for rookie of the year? Was he a top starter for at least half the year with solid stats? During his 6 or more starts did he make the rest of the Offense look better? When playing good teams, was he able to deal with their best defenders by reading defense well, by great plays, and by escapability.

In short, was Milton a solid NFL starter?

He’s worth whatever the market (highest bidder) is willing to trade for him

Yes, a very desperate team might offer a 4th.

And I don't think that we'd take the 4th. We need a #2 QB this year or at worst a #3 who could be a #2 in 2026.

BTW, I believe the team is considering signing a veteran QB because they are NOT sure that Milton is a reliable #2 yet.

That's his price if it were his 4th year in the league as a bench warmer, i.e., priced as a backup. But at this point he's being compared to this year's draft class, and he slots in right after the top 2 guys. He may have the strongest arm in the NFL and is a terrific runner at 235 lbs. He has shown that his draft position was a mistake. It's a unique situation. But if you're say Tennessee and you didn't grab a QB in r1 and hope to get one at the top of r2 or trade up to late r1, why not just give NE your 2nd rounder for Milton? I think they'd be crazy to take Dart or Milroe with that pick rather than Milton. And for the next 3 years they only have a 6th rounder salary to pay.

Your backup QB is worth a 3rd rounder to you. If you don't get a second rounder or higher you should be fired for your incompetence . Considering Milton has 3 more years and is a backup QB for less than a million dollars that amounts to savings of 20 million $ over a 3 years period . Not sure why you would trade that for a 4th or 3rd rounder . Makes zero sense.

At present Pape, he's worth more to the Patriots. He'll be under contract for 3 more years. And, that's 3 years of an affordable and possibly competent #2 QB. And, if he's properly coached and improves each off-season, then perhaps after his 2nd or 3rd season (especially if we by then draft another good QB Prospect), then he could prove to be worth a high draft pick. I would not trade him this off-season.

I can’t imagine he’s increased his worth to more than a 5th, maybe with a conditional late round pick attached.

Too many times (Bishop, Hoyer, Mallet, Garrapolo, etc) I’ve gotten my hopes up to have them dashed. Until a backup fetches a high price, I’m remaining a skeptic on their trade value.

In a vacuum i voted a 4th for what he is worth right now. In the Buffalo game he showed poise, accuracy, coachability, and some crazy athleticism. Basically he proved he belongs in the league which is more then most 4th round or later picks. However, how many times have we seen a guy light it up in preseason only to flop when the games and defenses are for real? For every Victor Cruz there are 100 umm c'mon brain TE that looked like baby Gronk for a preseason then did absolutely nothing after being let go and picked up by the jets. Anyway point being Milton is potential right now, nothing more. Better potential then when he was drafted, but still just potential.

Now would i accept a 4th for a trade? Hell no. Maye looks like he might get hurt a bunch and having the light version as a back up so the game plan doesnt have to change would be very appealing. It would take a deal like say the Saints want Milton and the atlanta 3rd for thier 2nd. I would do that but anything short of that kind of value isnt enough because i think if Drake is out for 4 games and Milton comes in and continues to do well he could be worth that high 2nd late first all on his own. So next year a team like the steelers, in the playoffs but desperate for a QB might pony up a much higher pick.

For at least another year im keeping Milton for anything less then a crazy deal like a 2nd.

BTW, I believe the team is considering signing a veteran QB because they are NOT sure that Milton is a reliable #2 yet.
They should be signing one regardless of how they feel about Milton, simply because it's unreasonable to think Maye has reached the point where he doesn't need a mentor. (As opposed to, say, Brady post-SB39.)

Interesting results so far...

i think some wildly overestimate his value based on the strength of a game where the other team didn't play defense...

What do I think he's worth? Right now, not much more than his draft position.

What could a team with poor ability to evaluate QBs like the Browns offer? I'd say a 4th would be stupid, but a reasonable guess as to what they might be willing to do.
