The prior rumor was that he was the guy who worked the most with Milton. They must like the work he did with him if that’s the case.

So now that’s 4 former head coaches who will be on the coaching staff - Vrabel himself, McDaniels, Marrone, and McAdoo — plus one former interim HC (Brown) and 1 additional former assistant head coach (Williams). Hopefully they’ll turn out to be good, but one thing we can definitely say is they have a ton of experience leading the ship this year.

If the reports that McAdoo was working with Milton are correct, then keeping him is a good thing.

So I just listened to Bedard during my walk and he's concerned about Marrone and others on the offense side in that they seem to be Vrabel's guys and not McDaniels'. I would think McDaniels would have insisted on staffing decisions before taking the OC position. Was he that desperate that he would giv that up, or is Bedard off base.

So now, in today's Q&A on his website, Bedard says Vrabel and McDaniels are in lockstep with regards to assistant hirings. Sort of runs counter to what he said on his podcast. But glad to hear it.

EDIT: Later in the Q&A he says "I now have no issues with the offensive staffing. More details to come."

I don't have a problem with McAdoo I'd just like his job to be more explained in detail.. he never even spoke one word to the media.. let's see if Josh changes anything.

There is no reason for the team to explain the detailed roles and responsibilities of all their employees.

What makes you say so? They had no problem detailing Glaser role.. or Wolf's role.. during the collaboration last season.. the Patriots actually went all in to be more sound with the media.. and even have a segment showing KB and pop going shopping... this was NEVER done before. However McAdoo was the invisible man and never uttered a word

My initial reaction was I want nothing to do with Josh McDaniels. I wanted a fresh start and a clean break from the dynasty. The more I think about it though, the more I think he is the right guy.

The thing that swayed me was listening to Patriots Unfiltered the other day when they mentioned Josh has spent that past year visiting different college campuses studying college offenses. He has made a real effort to try and modernize his scheme and stay up to date with the latest trends. I believe he spent time at Alabama, Ohio State, Oklahoma, USC and possibly more.

There is no doubt Josh is an excellent OC that can implement and teach a system, run an offense and call plays. If he can modernize his scheme and add some new concepts to his vast knowledge and experience, he could be the perfect guy for Drake Maye.

McAdoo was a head coach so you’d think he would have experience on all phases.
