Vrabel's Staff Discussion Thread (Discuss related news here)

He’s a LB / SS. Let’s see where the coaches put him.
Imo to small for LB. He's best suited where he can see the ball and make plays in the open field. We need some thumper at LB no more hybrids.

I think it's a major mistake on the part of Vrabel to not keep Pellegrino around. He's been, arguably, the best CB coach this team has had over the last 20 years and probably a Top 3 CB Coach in the league.

Regardless it seems like we're going to have a very good Defense. Love the defensive assistant in his title.

Anyone else lukewarm to the Marrone hire? I associate him with losing other than that fluke run to the 2017 title game with Jax.
So I just listened to Bedard during my walk and he's concerned about Marrone and others on the offense side in that they seem to be Vrabel's guys and not McDaniels'. I would think McDaniels would have insisted on staffing decisions before taking the OC position. Was he that desperate that he would giv that up, or is Bedard off base.

Nah: he still laughing his way to the Bank every week cashing Mark Davis's checks.

Yeah they are mostly or all Vrabel's guys. Let's see where the WR Coach comes from.

He likely wanted a change and probably advance
Good point. It may be his choice to leave now, not Vrabes canning him. With all the staff changes around him it’s a good time if he wants a change in scenery. Will be interesting to see where he lands. He may have an offer in hand already, or at least a wink and a nod.

I have to think McD is in on all of the offensive interviews. The way Vrabel has talked about collaboration, I can't imagine him not consulting on all of the hires.

Yes. He's been a position coach since 2015.. so he more than likely wants to be an defensive assistant or he may even join Bill in NC perhaps. I wouldn't rule that he or Brian join Bill. Whoever Vrabel, Williams and cowden bring in on the defensive side I'd trust they are more than capable to handle the job. This defense needs to be aggressive and be able to get pressure with 4.. with Gonzo and another veteran at CB2 ( chavaious ward) would lock down the perimeter and help the front 7.

Bedard is off base. If McDaniels had a problem with it, it wouldve been discussed during his interview. No one even knows what offense McDaniels is going to be running. Everyone has ideas, but the coaching hires kind of lean in a more diverse direction.

So we’re going to have a Nickleback coach? Or will he be CB, Safeties or all of the above?

Coaching DB’s for 20 years. Experience

Hmmm. I hope that experience is worth something.

Bills defense sucked, especially passing defense. PFR had them at 24th in league. The year before they were 7th.

Per PFR:
2022 Titans: 32nd against the pass.
2021 Titans: 25th.
2020 Titans: 29th.

Numbers are actually worse than I expected. Woof.

I find it irritating when people would rather ***** than solve a problem. So, feel free to use this space to copy and paste from the similarly titled thread or just post the news directly and discuss to your hearts content.

I'll start with this. Your are encouraged to discuss in follow on posts.

I seen that video
He said he now believes Kraft forced JM on Vrabel
I call BS. No way Vrabel agrees to that
I think what Vrabel is doing is JM has a great mind but has nit worked that much in the WCO
I think Vrabel is choosing coaches that can assist JM with verbiage and such and JM will run with it

So Mapu at 230 / 6'-3" is too small for LB but Greenlaw at 230 / 6'-0" isn't. Ok.

Greenlaw yes!! Gladly take him. I want our pressure to come from our defensive line like all great patriots defenses did. That way our LBs can set the edge and drop RBs in the backfield.

The secondary is certainly a potential weakness.
1) We are losing our safeties coach.
2) We are losing our cornerback coach.
3) J Jones, our nickel back, is not signed. The #2 NB is 5'8" and is very much needed as a returner.
4) Austin is not signed.
5) We need a free safety. Our incumbent (Hawkins) is not signed and was not very good.

SIGNED PLAYERS
CB: Gonzalez, M Jones, Bolden, Dial
S: Peppers, Dugger, Pettus, Mapu, Schooler

I would expect up to FOUR signings; two could be J Jones and Austin. Ideally, we would re-sign both plus a top corner and a free safety.
I believe the entire Minnesota secondary is available lol

But as far as in the draft I have been mocking the following...

Pick #69

Option A) Mukuba - Texas

Option B) Darien Porter - Iowa State

Day 3

Upton Stout - Western Kentucky

Justin Walley - Minnesota
