Brown may get groomed by McDaniels as well, so in the event that McDaniels really kills it with Maye and somehow gets another HC opportunity in 3 years, Brown will be capable of stepping up.

Also the first time the Pats have had a "Pass Game Coordinator" which is notable. Curious if they will have a "Run Game Coordinator".

Great hire.

But... the reason why he bounces around and can't seem to elevate is that he is not a great person. I think of him as the biggest curmudgeon in football. He makes Belichick look like Mr. Rogers. He makes Bill Parcells look like Robin Williams.
Well, Scar wasn’t exactly warm and fuzzy was he?

See?

He wasn’t just a Rooney file interview.

Good coaches will get hired. There is no need for the Rooney rule.

In fact, the Rooney rule is counterproductive.
One could argue that it was the Rooney rule that got him that interview. One can also argue that he would have been interviewed anyway. Good debate team topic.

All of a sudden this team has a professional staff, as opposed to a bunch of guys who should have been in D3 college. Very excited about the future.

OK not a great person, but a great football person.

These ex-HC smart guys, like McDaniels, are not great leaders but work well as sub-leaders with someone like Vrabel in charge. I value smart people that can make the right decisions and teach the correct methods and techniques. We do not need a lot of rah-rah guys.

Hoping Houghtaling really did show something with the Titans earlier, because otherwise hiring a Bears o-line coach from last year is just moving from the frying pan to the flame.
I assume Marrone is the OL coach and Houghtaling will be learning from Marrone. If not, I agree with you.

This is a legit staff. Still not excited about McDaniels, but this is at it's absolute worst a very competent coaching staff and at it's best a potential powerhouse.

The personnel is now the priority.
This is where I am at. I don’t love the "get the band back together" feeling, but I am happy we have experienced NFL coaches. So far, it looks like a solid mix of young guys with potential to be groomed and grow into bigger roles, and long-time and some seasoned coordinators with now a couple of former head coaches in the mix.

The upgrade at OL coach from Matt Patricia (2022) to Adrian Klemm (2023) to Scott Peters (2024) to Doug Marrone (2025) is significant. Maybe Marrone can make something out of their collection of middling-at-best tackles.

I imagine he has the kind of seniority to be involved in the draft process
