I know I’m going to get **** for this, but I enjoyed Lynch’s Dune better than Villeneuve‘s…blasphemer I know! Disliked the voiceover part is all.

Not from me you won't. It's sort of an apple's to oranges comparison but I will say Lynch's version had infinitely more visual style especially when you consider the technological state of the movie making art at the time. Imagine if he'd been given 2 movies to portray his version.

I'll go even further into heresy than you, in the storytelling aspect the TV miniseries was far closer to Herbert's story than Villeneuve's movies. Alec Newman was the worst of the Paul's, though none of them was particularly good at evoking Herbert's Paul

My friend, JBU, you been nibbling on those shrooms by any chance?
You do know Herbert's worms are fictional right?
As opposed to the malicious one in the bottle who once convinced a squadmate and I the 6 marines at the other end of the bar didn't really look all that tough. That little jerk was real as hell, ******* even mocked us when we were licking our wounds in the stockade after.
He's not always a straight up liar though. I believed him a few years later at a bar in Boston when he said I could handle that smokin' redhead I was eyeing, several decades later the jury is still out but I'm still standing

**** that... you are preaching to the choir... I love that movie... it was over the top... so visceral... the design elements really set a tone, and the makeup effects just expanded on it... so the narrative was missing a beat or ten, and he made up the whole weirding module voice thing (among other stuff), and the shields looked rotoscoped... it was grand, epic in scope, which brings us to...

the new dune is okay... its biggest flaw is it lacks any emotional tenor... its a fairly level film, even to some degree a flat movie... no real highs, no real lows... the characters are just players set in motion... there's no real emotion you can connect to... it looked too pretty vs the raw unfiltered sets of the 1984 dune film

The new dune, both of em are very meh. Beautiful looking but lacking emotion/substance. Could’ve been much better. Kinda like Blade Runner 2049…

My guess is we are waiting for someone from the remaining 4 teams
Or someone from a team that just got a new coach which will free up coaches they want to replace with their guy
With the 4 remaining teams anyone out there that has ties to Vrabes or Josh

Carmen Bricillo and Cole Popovich, after a slight rocky patch, had the Patriots OL humming in Mac Jones’s rookie season, 2020.

Popovich as co-coach more than carried his weight. He was a college player at Logan Mankins’s alma mater, Fresno State.

Brucillo was poached by McDaniels to go to LV. Popovich was forced out for reasons that had nothing to do with football.

And since then it’s not been good.

Doug Marrone or old friend Cole Popovich would be a ray of sunshine. Just gotta keep it simple teaching the OL. Scott Peters got into the weeds too much. Billy Yates and Marty P were awful.

A good OL coach makes all the difference. When the best OL coach in the league right now, Jeff Stoutland with the Eagles, was at Michigan State in the early mid 2000s he took a pedestrian group and turned them into an elite unit.

We saw Dante do that for decades.
Jones rookie season was 2021

Hard disagree. There are lots of abhorrent personal beliefs that you would not say that about, for example regarding superior skin colors or ethnicities. It’s just that rejection of scientific method and adoption of voodoo internet medicine aren’t as strongly triggering that lets you say it.

I’ll go much farther. The personal beliefs are the bigger problem. Willingness to sacrifice personal ambitions for flawed personal beliefs highlights and compounds poor judgment in both areas.

He made the choice to sacrifice his ambitions. I’m perfectly happy leaving them lying on the altar of his hubris.
Questioning whether an untested vaccine is safe is not hubris, voodoo, or flawed.
Taking it was a risk, people have to make their own risk decisions.

Being blackballed 4 years later for that decision is ignorantly and small minded.

I really like Lady Jessica’s story from part 1. I connected with her story emotionally more than anyone else’s. But I love Lynch’s film too. The best part of Part 2 was watching the way Paul pulled all the political factions together to build a force that could defeat the Harkonens. That said, I think they’re both great versions and I like them both.

I am thinking they are gonna poach from eagles staff. So don't think the Oline coach will be hired till Superbowl .

Keep an eye on Mass boy paganetti

Wisconsin Oline coach and Alabama Oline coaches are also intriguing options. Coach with experience. But paganetti is one who has been with eagles over 8 years ago despite coaching changes . Either he is close to management or he is super good, stealthy good.

Just my googling input of Alabama Oline coach. Seems interesting. LSU, Alabama, Texans and Oregon are the units with best offensive line.

I think you might be on to something there
Good thinking. We know Vrabel wants to build through the trenches, and no one has been better on the lines (both of them) over the last half dozen years than the Eagles.

I donno.. but he was personally hired by Jeff Stoutland and promoted across various roles. Could be a great pickup . He was retained by sirianni . Lots of promotions. Only negative . A bit green from Oline perspective and might not have as much experience in fundamentals as it would have been done by Jeff.

Wisconsin Oline coach strikes me as a wildcard. Again I don't follow college football so just punting my views. Take it with bucket loads of salt.

My 2 cents we should have scar as a recruiting Consultant role as part of interview process to validate all offensive coordinators. I would want someone who just wants to stick on only as an Oline coordinator and not looking for promotion, somebody in mould of scar, Jeff Stoutland or Chip Kelly in his new avatar to help build continuity in coaching and fundamentals across Oline . Somebody with at least 15+ years of coaching experience unless they are a stud like mcVay.

This hire is crucial, it’s at least the 4th straight season that a new OL coach is coming in. A bad combination with the talent level here.

Make Marrone an offer he can’t refuse.

Why would a new coach be bad for our talent level here…or lack thereof?

If anything….at this point we can only get better….doesn’t matter what we do.

And the last time I saw Dante Scarnecchia at camp maybe ten years ago…he was looking pretty spry for his age…is he doing anything interesting these days?

The point was that the lack of continuity at the coaching position exacerbates the existing problem with having poor talent. This is in part due to the need to acquire players that fit the system the coach will employ.

Alex Atkins, Matt Luke, and Sam Gregg are 3 names from the coaching ranks that would be nice additions.

Tennessee Titans (2021–2022)
Assistant offensive line coach
Tennessee Titans (2023)
Offensive line coach

After the mess that was the bears offensive line this season, I want nothing to do with that mf’er. Stay away!

Yeah, but they suck so badly that starting over again makes no difference whatsoever….

I don't get the Marone fascination, Paganetti sounds promising as well as some of the others mentioned. I would like to add Justin Frye to this series of speculation. Frye is the OL coach for Ohio State and anyone that loses their starting LT and makes Donovan Jackson look like a very competent LT seems like the guy we should pursue.
