Baker couldn’t understand the West Coast offense, it’s hard to see him ever picking up EP.
Agree with that, maybe Josh is a better teacher?
Or maybe Baker picks it up more mentally.
Maybe a coach like Vrabel who will hold him accountable gets him to his potential?

Good point. Definitely crossover with Godwin… and he is the type of receiver who excels in this offense.
Worried about the age.
Would not pay him like a number 1.

If he’s dumb as a rock he’s dumb as a rock, nothing can be done about that.

Minihane was right last time, so...

Still don't like the guy.

Minihane is a total ****, but he’s a really good investigative journalist. He tore Kevin Curran to pieces over his fabrications in the Boston Marathon Bombing stories he wrote. He dismembered him so badly the Globe went after him and helped get him off the air. ( At least that’s how I remember it)

Maybe they get assistants from the Vikings or the Rams to add some creativity to McDaniels arsenal.
Creativity. You mean like putting a goal line offense out on the field in order to open up the pass in the 4th quarter of a Super Bowl?

I came to know of this in the “America’s Game” special after SB 53 in 2019 but heard more details of it listening to Brian Hoyer on Sirius going to work last week.

Hoyer said that Wade Phillips the Rams DC had completely revamped the Rams defensive scheme in the two weeks leading up to the SB kind of like what the Pats did to the Eagles in SB39 going to a 4 man line.

Anyway Hoyer said MCDaniels gathered the O on the sidelines and told them the plan. The plan was to go to 13 personnel with only 1 WR- Jules, 2 TEs Gronk and Dwayne Allen plus James Develin and Rex Burkhead which was something they had not practiced all season. That was the formation that gave them the matchups to go on their Super Bowl winning drive in SB 53.

I’ll take that guy. He’s not without faults. I remember the last time I swore at him on the TV. It was the last regular season of the 2021 season against the Dolphins. There was a 3rd and one early in the game and McDaniels emptied the backfield, and Mac Jones ended up throwing a pick 6. I was yelling before the play started how stupid it was. But, all coordinators make stupid calls. It’s how many and how many brilliant calls are in the mix as well. Remember Edelman’s pass against the Ravens? That was pretty good wasn’t it. Kind of shall I say creative.

I get why people prefer new to the known because new is a blank slate on which you can imagine perfection. There’s no such thing as perfection and I say what I know about Josh McDaniels is good enough for me and best for Drake Maye and the NEP offfense.

I’m a huge McDaniels fan I was just replying to the poster that if Mike really felt Josh could learn some new tricks then maybe we can grab some differing or fresh ideas from the Mcvay or O’Connell tree.

Sure Maye can learn it. How many rookie QBs learn a new system in their 2nd year and are successful?

It was an organizational decision to go to WC- not AVPs.
No it wasn’t. According to Curran and Bedard the Pats wanted Bill O’Brien to stay on as OC last year, but he decided to go to Ohio State and then on to BC. According to Albert Breer the Pats wanted Nick Caley next and offered him a lucrative offer for a first time OC which Caley turned down.

O’Brien wasn’t WC. Caley had only worked in LA one season, so they weren’t expecting him to install that offense here. AVP was just the best of the options left to them not that they wanted the WCO.

Yes it was. Every OC they interviewed was rooted in/ or was going to run the WCO. Check out the interview list.

My understanding Caley was going to run WCO after learning it from McVay.

Sorry, I didn’t notice your post was a response to another post.

If you ask me after watching all these crappy offenses we saw this last season, the whole league might want to look for fresh ideas somewhere else other than McVeigh and Kyle Shanahan. A genius who’s already dribbled 3 SBs down his leg. Personally, I see very little creativity coming out of the WCO. It’s historically inferior when it comes up against excellent defenses like the Bears, Giants and Redskins against Bill Walsh’s 49ers in the 80s up to the 49ers last year against the Chiefs.

It’s cool

Took this from a Raiders Board they are in agony

Nothing here makes sense. First, they hire AP without interviewing anyone else. Then don't pay KK- or he decides last minute to bail- but either way Pierce has a bad OC. Then they don't take a QB and roll with the worst QB room in the league. Then they keep AP twisting in the wind for about 4 days, only to fire him. Then wait another three days to can TT all to make the team more attractive to a guy they were never getting. Now the choices are ancient Pete, ****ty Spags, failed Saleh. The coaching fraternity is a small one, and I just don't see why any competent HC/GM comes here. Working here will destroy a reputation, all while chicken ass Mark Davis hides behind his new shining toy, Brady while Rome burns.

One Raiders fan was saying HC isn’t important the guy will be there 2 yrs tops
They need to hit QB in the draft and become a destination where HCs want to be again.

Jets have officially made an offer to Aaron Glenn we are poaching their DL coach by reports and now this

Lions fans need a hug. It may be the right time to make a play for Jameson Williams they are in full disarray in Detroit.

I’d give the Second or a third and fifth for him easily.

3 different NFL teams selected McDaniels to be their head coach. This speaks volumes about how his skills as an OC are held in high regard.
Honestly I think Vrabel is fortunate to have him locked up. I am confident that Drake will learn a ton from him and evolve

Their first choice was O’Brien. Choosing a rookie OC to install an offensive system after spending only one season at the knee of a Master is as foolhardy as Matt, Joe and Bill trying to install it from a how to manual here in 2022. That was not the intention.

This WC fungus is so pervasive throughout the NFL that it’s hard to come up with a list of OC candidates not coming from a WC background.

The quality of offensive play in the NFL has been getting worse not better over the last 10 years bordering on brutal at times. Might that have something to with an in vogue offensive system that is simple and lacking in variety and creativity? I think it might.

As long as he never tries throwing a pass for the Patriots!

Riptide in FL
Yep was awful. We weren’t there yet when it happened, but had family just a mile or so down the beach. They could hear the emergency vehicles responding.
