I’ve always been a McDaniels fan both times he left I was pissed
What does this mean for the existing offensive coaching staff?
Or does McDaniels bring his old gang all back?
I dunno, I try extremely hard to keep AVP as QB coach. I pay him a big, big number to stay with Maye. You almost can't put a price tag on that.

What if Edelman came in in some capacity,
Get on the phone to Jules, Welker, Kevin Faulk or James White let’s have a party.

Not true. He brought that JAG Jones to the playoffs.

He will work wonders with Maye. He also did pretty damn good with Cassell, Brisett and Jimmy G. Your statement doesn't have too much merit, sorry.
I’ll add that he did a pretty good job with washed Cam Newton in 2020. And Cam only came on board in June.

The Patriots haven’t scored 30+ since he left.

Why didn't he revamp it when he was coaching the Raiders?

Did he decide ill wait a few years sucking with one of the worst offenses in the league till i get fired then i might modernize my offense?

This is the type of stuff the Jets come out with "Rodgers looks 25, he's gonna be the MVP"
He fails as a HC. He wasn't running the offense in Las Vegas, and he had crappy QB play as well. Plus...it's the Raiders. Oakland or Las Vegas it doesn't matter.

He has had time off, just as Vrabel did. You may very well be right, just I highly doubt that this wasn't a hire about anything but what's best for the team and Maye.

Isn’t it possible that McDaniels could change to a radically different scheme.
I think it is possible. There were a couple reports that he’s visited some college teams to study their offenses. Maybe he just introduces the RO option offense to his.

Well I wanted an experienced OC that runs WC and is great w/ QBs.

2 out of 3 ain't bad. Drake learning EP is concerning. Hope he takes to it..quickly.

I'd rather have Drake learn EP than Josh learn WC. We saw how Fat Matt and Judge Dread "taught" zone blocking schemes....

Maye's a smart kid I think he'll learn it no problem. And he'll be learning it with his WRs not 20 years more advanced than them so I think it will be easier on them too. Bourne, Pop and Boutte even a little headstart.

Young 2nd year qb benefits from an experienced OC. I would have had concerns with a 28 yo first time OC. McDaniels has been on 6 SB winning teams and a head coach twice. As an OC i think he knows what to do.
If Vrabel trusts him thats good enough for me

It's been reported that Josh has also been talking to other Offensive Coaches in College and The NFL for the last two years to increase his knowledge base. For the moment, it is what it is. Drake can do a lot of things that Newton, Jones, and even Brady couldn't do. Let's just see what he comes up with.

Bring back some stuff he did with Cam

McDaniels will get a lot out of Maye. He is great with QB development and he will level up Maye on the mental side. Will he be on the cutting edge of play design? No, but he will be competent and call good games. The offense won’t be a clusterf*** like it has been in years past. If they aren’t a top 10 offense after 3 years then Vrabel can re-evaluate.

And what does that prove?

Bad QBs get to the playoffs regularly, Blake Bortles got to the AFCCG, Josh McDaniels is an outdated offensive coordinator running a dinosaur overly complex system catered to Tom Brady that has never helped young receivers thrive and we're in an era where they're more valuable than ever.
Something that I’ve thought about is could the issue have been that Brady had mastered the offense so most new receivers never had a chance of getting on the same page with him?
