Brian Hoyer said if Josh called him to help coach Drake he’s not going to say no. So I do like that presence there. does Hoyers game resemble Mayes no not at all. But I think multiple voices like a Hoyer and say a former QB who was also known to rush a bit like say a Cam Newton I would like to have him have that multifaceted perspective.

I see the logic, I just don't see Cam's personality as a good fit as a coach. As much as Cam's leadership was a revelation, I envision the instruction going something like "Drake, did you know that I used to be able to run over 15 defenders at once while wearing a feathered fedora and throwing the ball over the mountain?".

If the do decide Josh is the guy and they want to run E/P, Hoyer would be an interesting choice as an assistant/QB coach because he has played in E/P, WC and the spread offense. He knows the subtleties and the differences of the systems.

As it relates to Drake, think of Hoyer as a glorified translator.

Like Brissett, Hoyer would be a bad mentor for Maye.

Why do you say that?

I'd think Maye has picked up QB pretty well learning from Jacoby Brissett just the daily stuff about being a professional QB. JB is a pro and he never complained when he lost the starting job, he knew he was preparing the way for Maye. His issue is he's not as talented as Maye, the professionalism is there from everything I've read about him.

Watching both Hoyer and Jones warm up and practice live I was horrified to see Hoyer had the stronger arm.

This is where my reservation comes in with Josh. You truly do need a very, very cerebral QB and WR's to match. Godwin would be a great addition towards that, but the question isn't a matter of does Maye, but can Maye flourish in that?

Could Josh adjust on the fly if he comes to realize that Maye has a different style? That we've yet to see from his previous ventures without Brady.

This is all assuming if he really is in the running.

And how did that scheme change go for Mr. Pierce and Mr. Adams? Did they unlock their team as proposed once they got away from that awful McDaniels?

Let’s see… looks like Adams was traded away after team drama, the group finished 1 game out of being the league’s worst, and Pierce was fired after 1 season.

Yes and you don’t sound like a jerk, I think Brown would be an excellent RBs coach but I don’t know about OC.
I’m not sure about his play calling creativity.

Correct and it is hilarious that many Pats fans ignore the fact that one of the main reasons that the Pats won the SB in 2019 was Bill and McDaniels’ decision to alter the offense from a passing-heavy scheme to a run-based offense, when it became clear that the team’s passing attack was never going to be able to take them far in the post-season.

The final straw was the abomination that occurred on the road in Pittsburgh. It had gotten so bad that Brady was seeing ghosts and turtling the first sign of pressure. Because he is the GOAT, TB12 came through when they needed him the most in the AFC championship game in KC but he was less of a factor in their success late in the season and in the playoffs than perhaps any year since his rookie year. That’s just a fact.

Think you’re taking away the wrong conclusion.

Adams claimed that the system only works with a great QB and they’d be much more successful with a different scheme. They changed schemes and got worse. So seems like maybe that’s not the case.

“Personnel wise” they didn’t have a QB, which had a little something to do with it.
