Obviously not a huge need for us but depth is always important at this position.

The top guy and only one worthy of 1st round discussions is obvious.

My guy for us is Ollie Gordon

It may not be a "top need" but its one they should probably look to address. Stevenson and Gibson are the only NFL-caliber backs they have and neither are anything special in their role (Stevenson as the 1st and 2nd down guy, Gibson as the 3rd down/passing back). Depth is critical and the overall cost of addressing that position is so comparatively less than other spots. Whether it's free agency where contracts go for less or the draft where the position is devalued, there's really no excuse why we shouldn't have a good depth chart at that position considering the resources we have available.

Bhayshul Tuten, Virginia Tech, 5-11, 209

Has a reported 4.3 speed and looks like it on the video. Can also return kickoffs so has a chance to stick on the roster.

The video is a fun watch and this kid has blistering pace but he's also getting some big holes so hard to judge.

Man, what an amazing acceleration. Pure speed.

I like Skattebo a lot, but probably not looking to spend a top 30-50 on a RB. Strongly suspect that the players we have would appear good enough if our OL improved to average and our passing attack wasn't rubbish. I still like Rham. Gibson had some nifty plays, as well.

Love this kid as well. He can catch it too. He’ll be a steal wherever he goes.

Actually, RB is a serious need. We have just Stevenson (Mr. Fumbles) and Antonio Gibson (who's good, but wasn't used enough). If just one gets injured or Stevenson keeps fumbling, do we just get another FA JAG? We need to draft at least 2. I would go with any two of the following: Omarion Hampton, Nicholas Singleton, Devin Neal, and Raheim Sanders.

My pound the table guy at RB is Kalel Mullings from Michigan. He’s 6’1” 233lbs and is a big, physical, violent runner. He started his career as a LB so he has good vision and understanding of running lanes from both sides of the ball. He has excellent acceleration and burst, nimble feet for a guy his size and is a monster in short yardage.

He draws comparisons to Latavious Murray and Brian Robinson Jr, but I also see a bit of Marshawn Lynch with his balance after contact. He’s been a big time player for Michigan and I think he can be a bell cow running back in the NFL.

As a former LB’er he has great toughness and physicality. He is one of, if not the best pass protecting RB’s in the draft and loves to get his nose dirty. And if that isn’t enough, he is also a core special teamer. This is the kind of guy I love, just a real football player.

A double dip with Bhayshul Tuten would be great thunder and lightning duo.

Looks like an all purpose back but I was more impressed with the blocking as he was untouched in most of those highlights lol

Agreed. I just would almost never invest a 1st round pick on a RB.

Agreed. And you rarely have to the last decade or more. Pro-Bowl RB's are found into Round 4 and after.

And about 99% dont last beyond their rookie deal.

Mostly in jest and as a result of the Josh McDaniels hire I went onto PFF to find a James White like back in this draft. Used PFF because it can tell you which backs lined up out wide and in the slot. Truth is, I found someone reasonable interesting.

LeQuint Allen, RB, Syracuse 6-0, 200lbs

He's not an elite rusher but did run for over 1,000 yards. however he's interesting both as a receiver and a pass blocker.

He ranks 1st amongst draftable running backs for snaps from the slot
3rd for snaps on the outside
1st in receptions
2nd in receiving yards
Graded 2nd in pass blocking only giving up 1 hurry
Only 1 fumble.

Not gonna lie, he looks like an ideal 3rd down back for McDaniels.

More on LeQuint:

Overall, Allen projects as a versatile option for an offense that should earn good volume at the NFL level. His refined game as both a ball-carrier and weapon in space showcases an intriguing prospect at the position who could challenge for an RB1 role in due time.

Prospect Projection: Day 2 — Adequate Starter

It's Mel Kiper but:

“LeQuint Allen from Syracuse,” Kiper Jr. said. “He can catch the ball out of the backfield. He was big play after big play. Downhill, north-south, he goes and he runs hard. He was great in short yardage and goal line. So this kid out of Syracuse is another one of those running backs at 35 or so who have draftable grades at running back. The Syracuse kid is one of ‘em and he declared for the draft. Watch out for him. He’s going to be soaring up in the draft process as well.”

Oh I love it.

Here's another Woody Marks.

Jo'Quavious Marks currently looks like a valuable committee back with third-down specialist potential at the next level. His plus receiving chops and advanced pass pro acumen will get him on the field early in obvious passing situations. While he lacks the prototypical size for an every-down back, his vision and decisiveness could make him an effective change-of-pace option in a rotation.

Marks had the most snaps out wide amongst draft RBs although didn't feature much in the slot. Is behind Allen in terms of pass blocking but another nice find.

I like this from his scouting report:

  • High football IQ. Quick study in new schemes and shows ability to process defenses pre-snap

Love this kid. Follow Syracuse so I seen a lot of him. James White
is is spot on.
