Why is it so quiet on the McDaniels front??

Well one reason might be the Rooney rule - still need to interview one more minority candidate for OC, and it might be viewed as pro forma if it happens after McDaniels. Also might be Vrabel has told him that he's going to be the last interview, so potentially might need to wait for playoffs. No rush here - McDaniels not going anywhere.

Vrabel's first move was placing a guy in the GM's office. Smart guy. Attack the biggest problem first.

OC and DC come second.
Sure but I don't think he wants him. He wants run the WCO as the first two OC candidates indicate.

Will be interesting to see the names,
I wanted to look at Detroit’s staff but with every media outlet said that Johnson is going to the Raiders.
Half the staff will be promoted and the other half goes to Vegas.
So then I’m looking at Tampa Bay, Philly, Green Baty coaches.

Not all. Hes still being discussed going to CHI or JAX

I’m sorry, but while it would be nice to have your OC around for years, not wanting an OC because he might be good enough to jump to a HC position in a year or two is an awful position to take. You should be hoping to whatever you hope to that he is good enough to make that jump.

Best case scenario is to have a program where if your OC gets promoted to HC the man under the OC takes the leap to be your OC and develop within.

The Rooney has not stopped the hiring of coaches. For example, if Vrabel wanted only Josh, he could have had two virtual interviews the day after he was hired.

Vrabel is considering options that are still in the playoffs, as he should.

Thoughts

-more I think about it, more I like McDaniel as someone with enough weight to be a legit push back force to Mike. It’s bad to only have yes men around
-Mike is doing what I hoped krafys would do it seems: talk and learn from as many potential coaches as possible before making a decision
-I also think Mike isn’t just focused on OC and DC, I think when the decisions come to us they’ll include almost all the coaching openings, he’s working on multiple levels at once

Would love Thomas Jones as RB coach.

Brian Hoyer said if Josh called him to help coach Drake he’s not going to say no. So I do like that presence there. does Hoyers game resemble Mayes no not at all. But I think multiple voices like a Hoyer and say a former QB who was also known to rush a bit like say a Cam Newton I would like to have him have that multifaceted perspective.

Like Brissett, Hoyer would be a bad mentor for Maye.
