I stress this only because THIS is the basis of the language that Maye has learned, and it would be a step back to make him learn a new one

Do we know what language Maye used this season? Was it the historical EP system or the WCO language spoken (I assume) by Van Pelt. If it was WCO-speak, then presumably either McDaniels or Maye would have to switch.

West Coast

FWIW, Bedard wants either McDaniels or Kubiak. Someone with both significant OC experience and QB coaching experience - that narrows it down a lot.
Its gotta be Mcdaniels. Proven track record but most of all, he’s not a flight risk. You could pair him up with Maye for years. The importance of that cannot be overstated. It would be a huge win. Reshaping the offensive roster however would be the biggest hurdle. WR’s that fit this system don’t grow on trees and as it stands right now, it doesn’t sound like we have a very bright bunch. I trust Mcdaniels to evolve the offense as needed to fit Maye’s strengths.

The first official OC interview - in the surprise category (or maybe a Rooney interview):

Brown comes to Chicago with four seasons of NFL coaching experience and nine at the collegiate level. Brown most recently served as the offensive coordinator for the Carolina Panthers (2023). Prior to his time in Carolina, Brown was with the Los Angeles Rams for three seasons in various roles, including the final two as assistant head coach.

Seems like an interesting candidate who's worked with McVay. Seems like what everyone wants.

Finally. Some news. Okay. Why Brown?
*edit* Rooney rule out of the way?
*edit 2* Former Rams guy?
*edit 3*
Rooney candidate fulfilled. But his creds also look worthwhile .

It's either McDaniels or caley or ragone . But honestly if it's not Rees or Kubiak it's gotta be McDaniels. There is no way you can hand it over to first time play caller.

One interesting thing of note is that, as far as I can tell, there’s no “in person” requirement for the Rooney Rule interviews for coordinators like there is for the HC interviews. So a virtual interview should qualify. I’m also not sure if they’re forbidden from bringing him into the building prior to 1/20 like they would have been for the HC interviews. The league’s rules for this stuff are very unnecessarily complex.

Brown is an upcoming hc candidate. Major flight risk. Who we put behind him would be very important.

All of these guys sucked ass, except for Bicknell, he seemed like he did a good job.

Looks like McCartney and AVp might be retained in some capacity. Since browns hired OC, no way AVP gets another OC designation.

Maybe McDaniels might come here as pass game coordinator while AVP is OC but tasked only with QB coaching maye and Milton along with McCartney. They don't need to pay Josh for next 2 years more than league minimum. That's a plus for Bob .

There’s no way Mcdaniels would ever come here to play back up to Alex Van Pelt. Not just that, but Van Pelt runs an entirely different offense. I’d be shocked if that happened.
