I agree, Ian. I don't think she was fired.

I do think Bob asked she and Vrabel to chat and figure out how to work together. The result of that meeting was that she is no longer involved as heavily in the football ops side of the business. Her responsibilities were adjusted with a focus on other parts of the Kraft Group.
If there's any truth to it, I wonder if maybe it's a situation where Cowden may now handle more of the bigger-picture stuff that might overlap with whatever it was she helped out with, with her going back to her normal duties. From there, maybe he'll handle that, along with being involved in the personnel discussions with Wolf while he continues running the scouting, along with the other stuff. Allows Cowden to get his feet wet and grow into a role there, with the next question being what happens after the draft. Maybe he starts as a #2 and then leapfrogs Wolf as the #1 and is officially given a GM title. Reiss also made a good point looking at the Grier/Pioli situation. It will be interesting to see how it plays out.

But I did some digging last night and Breer sort of alluded to the fact her involvement with the football stuff dropped off once the season started, and then there wasn't much about her from that point forward. I still don't understand the ire by people, especially since she'd been with the Krafts and had done various work in the organization for 17 years, and the fact there was someone above her was also a woman who has been here for 50. I mean, we never even heard her name until a year ago...but it is what it is.

I don't know man. Tough stuff. Maybe she should consult a rocket scientist - anyone still have Matt Patricia's number?
I hear we’re still looking for an offensive coordinator.

Nancy Meier is on the football ops side. Does scheduling. Shes at a lower level. Shes been there since the early 70s

Not sure if her role/aspirations overlapped with Cowden's. I think that is what she aspired to and was told no. I think Wolf just played the game knowing he was at a political disadvantage. he included her in meetings, sent her reports, bla bla.

I might be wrong but I think Wolf's role is not similar to Grier. Grier was playing out the string and was kept on to answer questions about that years scouting.

Very logical to think this would be a similar spot that Wolf is in.

But I get the feeling that Wolf is getting an actual chance to work with the new guys. The only difference is last year it was the Wolf/Mayo show with Wolf getting the top of the marquis. This year I think it's a 3 man show and Vrabel gets the top, Wolf next, Cowden 3rd possibly 2nd row with Wolf.

I agree, and Reiss meant in terms of Vrabel bringing Cowden with him, and the club obviously parting with Grier after the draft.

Here's what he said earlier this week:

“I really see the similarity in a lot of ways to 2000 when Bill Belichick came in," said Reiss. "Bobby Grier was the vice President of player personnel who had picked the players under the prior regime with Pete Carroll, and they had done all the scouting work at that time to prepare them for the 2000 draft. Bill Belichick comes in with Scott Pioli, who in this case, and again, it’s not apples to apples, but to me, Ryan Cowden this year is Scott Pioli in 2000. It’s the person in personnel who is most aligned with the new head coach. They all worked together to get prepared for the draft. It kept the staff unified, the scouting staff were all in this together.”

“They get through the draft. Ultimately, I’m not saying they’re going to move on from Eliot Wolf, but after the draft, I think we saw Scott, and maybe he was already there, but they restructured it where it was clear that, Okay, ‘Bobby Greer, thank you for your service. We’re going to shape this a little bit more in the image of the head coach.'”

“That’s my view. Again, not saying that Eliot’s going to lose his job, but that’s how I view the situation.”

Still, that situation, if I recall correctly - especially before Bill got there - was far more of a mess behind the scenes so I wasn't shocked when he was fired.

Somebody needs to help me out on this one.
Again, why do we care?
We care because she has Kraft's ear and seemingly had heavily influence over the Mayo hire and a strong voice in things in which culturally did not facilitate/contribute to a winning culture. It is believed that she was angling to have a much greater role in football ops while she has zero expertise in personnel.

I.E- Shes a political hack.

Here's a thing I dug out that I apparently wrote about Grier back in 2000 right after he was fired. I don't remember the details on some of the things I wrote, and I did a crappy job of making it make sense, but I did include some of what apparently transpired over that offseason before he was let go.

A lot of:

...in here. Can't believe that was 25 years ago...crazy.

I think she has the Kraft's back, and has it in a manner that may not be conducive to what's best for the football team.

EX: Krafts were sick of Bill, she helped facilitate them divorcing themselves from him.

Mr. Speaker, for the reminder of my time, I yield to the good senator @RobertWeathers

The imbedded Kraft Group spy has been outed and is conceivably on the lam.

So we care based on the board's group think perception that she 'seemingly had heavy influence' over someone that is no longer here in addition to 'believing' she was attempting to become some type of Svengali/Wormtongue?

Far be it from me to question such irrefutable proof of her evil deeds...

OTOH what if...

Honestly I always thought everyone *****ing about her was just a big witch hunt/non-story, but her getting canned after the Year of Mayo **** show kind of tells me that maybe everyone was right the whole time
Or maybe she was there to help an inexperienced Mayo with operational matters, a role no longer needed now that we have an experienced head coach in place. I don't know, but I don't get the hate aimed at her based on nothing but innuendo.

And just like that.....

all the "she only dots the i's and crosses the t's" people were never seen or heard from again....
The way any of you dolts think you can sit here and tell everyone you know exactly what she does in the organization is peak comedy to me. None of you have a clue. Please stop pretending

Correct.

Plus Belichick and Bruschi don't like her.

Your problem is that the board's (as you say) "group think perception" is based on several reports from legit news sources as well as multiple statements from Belichick himself.

I think Wormtongue is a good comparison, from what I've read. I always thought the shot of her carrying a hammer thru the offices of Gillette on the Apple slam piece doc was a little on the cringey side.

My Man, you have been here more than long enough to know threads are fueled by innuendo, often supplied in the guise of unconfirmed speculations.

The whole Glaser business was a PR fiasco right from the start and is totally on brand for The Nebbish (J. Kraft). I’m sure she doesn’t GAF and will go back to other things in their businesses. I certainly don’t believe she had ambition to become a Howie Rosenman or Mike Tannenbaum.

I have seen this “fly in the ointment” routine plenty of times in corporate life, people brought into a group that are clearly put there by senior management to spy and provoke, with the objective being to drive out people senior management has decided they don’t want anymore. The corporate world is filled with Robyn Glasers who have no issue ****ing around with “subordinates” on behalf of their “superiors.” Jonathan IMHO was itching to get BB out but didn’t want the PR hit on himself for the firing. Vrabel likely I think knew this coming in and told The Scatback he isn’t having it.
I’m glad to see that the Krafts may have realized that things had gone off the rails in management, and they are making moves, and allow Vrabel to make moves, to bring things back more into line with how they were when the Pats were successful under BB.

If this whole fiasco was instigated under the guidance of Jonathan, it doesn’t bode well for the Pats when Jonathan takes over, unless he is able to learn from his mistakes and is not set in his ways.

That was weird.

Plus she conducted interviews w/coordinators....like she'd know a good one if she spoke to them.
