Hello?
Yes this is Bill.
What?
He did what?
f*ck me.

He was a head coach for 13 seasons with the Packers, four more with Cowboys.
He took a year off between Packers and Cowboys.
Not sure he'd want to be an OC again after 17 years as a head coach.
No chance he would.

It's actually good for McCarthy. I'd have had enough of that sh*t show in DAL. Jerry is a nutcase, and because of his structure as being the center of all communication - players end up emulating more of his impetuous emotional insanity than anything you try to instill from the HC position. It's a disaster. Good luck to who's next.
As for Mike - who knows which teams might jump him up to the top of the list - maybe Bears?

Kind of a **** move outta Jerruh, preventing McCarthy from talking to Chicago then stiffing him on term.
If I were Johnson I wouldn't go near the Boys HC job with Jones pulling the strings.
It was an exclusive negotiating window, so for once I don't blame Jerruh.

You're correct, it was Jerruh's right.
Having the right to do a thing doesn't make it the right thing to do though. In any case, it's academic now. Chicago hasn't hired anyone yet and McCarthy is now free to do as he pleases

I mean he's legitimately a good coach. He's won a Super Bowl, he's been to 4 NFCCG's, he has 11 playoff wins, he's known developing QB's, he's made the playoffs 12 out of the 18 years he's coached. He got the Cowboys to consecutive playoff appearance 3 years in a row. The last time they had consecutive playoff appearances was 2006-7.

Honestly if he was on the market a week ago he would have been talked about in the same breath as Vrabel and Johnson as one of the top gets of the market. He's like the perfect mix of them. Established and experienced coach who is a disciplinarian that sets a culture but is also a strong offensive mind and can run up plays on that side of the ball. Plus unlike them he has a ring and a pedigree of consistently getting to and winning playoff games.

Everything you say is correct, but it feels like he's lost a step.

McCarthy's offense was always good. The Cowboys had 12 win season 3 straight years before the disaster this year. And you can't fault him for this year with all the injuries that happened to his team.

He would be a great hire for OC, but I suspect a team is going to offer him HC position.

Jerry is the inventor of the **** move. Why anyone would choose to coach for that d bag is beyond me.

Egomaniac, self important, destructive, sexual aggressor, Jerry is of the worst types of humans. Only exceptional pieces of crap such as T Hill & Irsay make it so that Jones isn’t the worst person in the league.

I hope Dallas never wins another SB. Ever.

McCarthy would be gone after one season for a HC job. I think McCarthy would be a good fit in Jacksonville.
Can you imagine going from the piss poor ownership in Dallas to the one in Jax ? If not wish that.

Never say never.
I've heard it said that Vrabel didn't give a clear answer as to who he would bring in to fill out his coaching staff. That was intentional. He did say that some would be people that he knows and some that he doesn't. Lord Admiral Nelson once said; "A name across the stern of a ship serves no one but the enemy." Basically, don't advertise what you're doing or give your enemy any intel.

With all of the new coaching staff's that will be filling out this off season, why would Vrabel tell anyone who he was thinking of bringing in? Because if he did that, other teams might leap in first and snag them up. I suspect that given how much time he's known he was going to be the Patriots HC, he probably already not only knows who he wants on his coaching staff, but already has agreements in place.

So, how does McCarthy fit in? He was a successful OC and was the Packers HC when Rogers was drafted. He helped develop him and oversaw a successful offense when he was HC. I wouldn't mind him as OC, so long as they bring in a solid Assistant OC Type (perhaps whoever will be the next QB Coach, which probably won't be AVP). Josh McCown is a friend of Maye, and Maye has a great deal of respect for him. McCown is considered to be a solid QB Coach and Offensive Mind as well.

On a side note. What Jones did to McCarthy was real scum baggery of the first degree. Last week he denied McCarthy a chance to interview for another HC Job. Which is fine if Jones intended to keep him as HC. But now, it seems that Jones was only going to keep him if he took a pay reduction. I'm not going to buy that Jones didn't believe that there was anyway that McCarthy would have accepted that agreement. Therefore, he hindered McCarthy intentionally. If I were an in demand HC Canidate, there's no way I'd be HC of Dallas (and that was even before what Jones just pulled on McCarthy).

If you go to Dallas you have to accept that it's Jerry's team and he is the GM. You are the coach and you handle on field. But that's the situation

Main reason BB would never go here. I'd put Dallas in the same group as the Jete TBH.

I’d rather have McDaniels than McCarthy.

I'd rather have neither. Sucks we didn't get BJ. Why the hell did he have to be an OC for Detroit? Imagine if we had landed him AND Vrabes....hell....let Scar come out of retirement as well....

I dunno man. Jerruh is a real pain in the ass. I get that Johnson is a great offensive mind and Dallas has all the shiny toys, but I don't know if a rookie HC has enough juice to tell the owner "no".
In my book Dak is dull, not shiny, and perhaps even tarnished or corroded. Jerrah still loves him though, which means that rookie coach will have to ride or die with Dak, which almost certainly means he'll die.
