Against the Pats no less.
I think Lazar nails it
I see it this way as well. Vrabel is more of the whole package. Overseas the whole operation.

And brings a lot of fresh blood into the whole organization.I see it this way as well. Vrabel is more of the whole package. Overseas the whole operation.
The majority of HC’s just in the playoffs the last 5 years have been offensive guys. The league has been trending towards this for years due to the rule changes. A defensive coordinator like Spagnuolo are rare these days and a top notch HC that’s defensive is even more rare.I prefer vrabel yes. I’d be ok with Johnson. But just saying one is better because one is offensive and other is not based on a few recent super bowl
Winners is absurd
And I doubt it’s McDaniels. I’d bet it’s Tommy Reese. Vrabel had typically had west coast guys and probably discussed doing this with him since he got to Cleveland. And brings a lot of fresh blood into the whole organization.
I think you’re right, but I don’t hate it if it is McD.And I doubt it’s McDaniels. I’d bet it’s Tommy Reese. Vrabel had typically had west coast guys and probably discussed doing this with him since he got to Cleveland.
Good stuff. I have analyzed both candidates fairly . What I determined as a fan in what gets us back to the top faster is having a coach like Mike vrabel. Someone who's walked it, talked it been there before in college, the pros and took that Titans team deep into the playoffs. Ben Johnson as a wonderful offensive mind who has the luxury of having elite players at the skill positions In Detroit. The team took their shot and interviewed Ben Johnson and I commend them on doing so. Mike vrabel is what the players, ownership, and us the fans need to get us back on top outside of roster talent.I like Mike Vrabel. He turned the Titans into a playoff team.
Yes things went downhill after a while but he's proven he can be a head coach at the NFL level.
He also has credentials as a former Patriot player who contributed a great deal to our Superbowl teams and has championship rings to his name so he also has credibility he can sell to the players.
On the other hand, don't expect Vrabel to be an innovator or an offensive genius. Expect him to bring a hard nosed, blue collar attitude to the team. That's fine it has worked before.
The question is will it be enough to turn this team back into contenders?
Ben Johnson just coached the Lions to one of the best offensive teams in the NFL in terms of points and yards and an impressive 15-2 record.
With a young QB and an offense in desperate need of an overhaul, one could argue that Ben Johnson is the best candidate to accomplish that task.
He will also overhaul our personnel department and bring in people to revamp what has been awful scouting and drafting for nearly a decade now.
These are things that tick boxes spelling success for me.
In the end I want the Patriots to return to the top of the ladder so I think you need to take risks and go for Ben Johnson here. His ceiling is higher as a head coach than Vrabel.
I understand those who want to play it safe and bring in Vrabel, but I feel Johnson is the superior candidate if your goal is to end up on top of the league again. Ben Johnson could do a wonderful job of developing Drake Maye and crafting an offense around him to maximize his talents. That could get us to ring #7. That's worth taking a shot on imo.
And I doubt it’s McDaniels. I’d bet it’s Tommy Reese. Vrabel had typically had west coast guys and probably discussed doing this with him since he got to Cleveland.
On NFL Game Day Ian Rapport stated Brady really wants Johnson, Tom contacted BJ’s agent and they spoke for an hour. Can someone elaborate on this people think Johnson is the favorite now?
But Brady trying to steal him?
Bring him back as LB’s coachI agree with Tedy
Me too. Josh is a QB genius. He will also bring back the 3rd down back.. Gibson will have a pro bowl caliber season under Josh.Hope it’s Josh McD
Tommy Rees will leave in one season when Maye lights it up.
Josh knows how to use 2 TE's as wellMe too. Josh is a QB genius. He will also bring back the 3rd down back.. Gibson will have a pro bowl caliber season under Josh.
Absolutely. I like Hooper and Henry.. while mixing in #88 as well.Josh knows how to use 2 TE's as well
I believe he can wink wink nod nod nowPerhaps I'm wrong but I thought that Johnson could not commit until later?
God no….vrabel yes, mcdaniels nooooVrabel and McDaniels I’m hoping.
Maybe Pats were not Johnson’s first pick.Ben Johnson would have been a great choice to follow Belichick. A clear direction change, while the existing locker room culture was still solid.
After the “Year of Mayo”, they need a guy who can come in and fix what’s broken. They need Vrabel.
These “insiders” are just reading tea leaves like us.These NFL insiders don’t know anymore than we do on who’s going where, It’s funny when they say sources around the NFL says a certain coach is favorite for a certain team. If there is a source that knows wouldn’t it be a source within that team they are talking about and not the janitor at NFL headquarters. LOL!
