Are you really asking how Belichick worked out as the coach of the patriots?
"real" interviews? What were the limits placed on the virtual interviews? At this point, many decisions are made without being face-to-face with decision-makers. The world is beyond looking into the eyes of those that we are evaluating.
=======
Vrabel has the leverage because he is a top candidate and Kraft cannot hire Johnson immediately.
I'm going to say it: if BB didn't tack a pin to his belly, he'd still be the coach of the Patriots.???

you can’t get McDanieled.I don't see how you can take the risk with Johnson when you have vrabel in kitty.
If Johnson changes heart, we are screwed because then it has to be either Flores or monken or Joe Brady. Too risky.
Vrabel 99% unless Johnson accepts verbatim, golden handshake and cancels bears interview and all other interviews.
Sounds nice in theory but you can't put pen to paper for Johnson until his team's season ends which might not be for over 4 weeks from now. He would be free to pick someone else or decide to stay in Detroit between now and then while you are sitting on your hands. If you had picked Vrabel you could already have your coaching staff largely sorted out and your front office re-organized and attending the Senior Bowl together by that point.I woke up today leaning towards: eff it. Blow it all up. Grab BJ (if he doesn't completely blow the interview). Go big or go home with an offensive coach and Maye. I think it's easier to build a Reid/Mahomes or Payton/Brees combo than it is to find your next Brady/Belichick
I just don't think Kraft will choose another first time HCSounds nice in theory but you can't put pen to paper for Johnson until his team's season ends which might not be for over 4 weeks from now. Thats not a good enough reason. I wouldn't count Johnson out to be honest. He has heard the Vrabel BS around the Boston and national media and yet he is still making the interview.Sounds nice in theory but you can't put pen to paper for Johnson until his team's season ends which might not be for over 4 weeks from now. You are more likely right than not, but weird things happen all the time. Whenever I buy a new guitar (which I do more often than i should) I research the heck out of it, settle on a choice, then at the last minute choose something else entirely, maybe because my first choice has lost its novelty for me since I've been thinking about it so long. We'd like to think that a multi-billion-dollar enterprise would be immune to such silliness, but I kind of doubt that is so, given some of the weird choices that are made.It sounds like the Pats are at the top of the list for attractive landing spots. I think the list of interviews would be longer if they didn't think they had a really, really good shot at landing one of the top two candidates.
That’s my concern, three weeks from now he shows up spends all day here and for whatever reason it doesn’t feel right to him and he decides to go back to the Lions and Vrabel has signed with another team. In a perfect world Detroit either didn’t make play-offs or lose wild card weekend.Sounds nice in theory but you can't put pen to paper for Johnson until his team's season ends which might not be for over 4 weeks from now. Yeah I don't have any concerns about him either, I think he will be good. I'm happy with either hire. It's just something to consider.Thats not a good enough reason. That says something to me. I'd be happy with either but Johnson is very much not a concern like Mayo was. He has been groomed for this and is an incredibly bright mind. He might be the next McVay to be honest.
I’m going to be thrilled with either one if we don’t get either we’re on to Joe Brady or Kellen Moore.Yeah I don't have any concerns about him either, I think he will be good. I'm happy with either hire. It's just something to consider.
Any leaks about the interview?
They will get one of either Vrabel or Johnson. Thats isn't a debate imo. If you have Drake Maye in mind, and you listen to Johnsons' presentation vs Vrabels, then the choice is clear.I’m going to be thrilled with either one if we don’t get either we’re on to Joe Brady or Kellen Moore.
