Feel complelled to add my two cents : I am NOT against BJ. (I'm absolutely loving these initials)

I'm not against, but his interview needs to be 100% better than the Washington reports........and I'd feel better if he has at least one former HC on his staff

I'm not saying he is, but to what degree is McVay like McDaniels? Every time I see McVay, he is bubbly or joking or whatever. He seems a little more on the nice guy side than the tough coach side.

When Hill had an alpha dog at QB like Mahomes he was kept in check for a while but with Tua and McDaniel it was only a matter of time till Hill reverted back to who he is.
And Hill is over 30 so everything will continue to change on the field unless he finds a QB to throw him open.

I was leaning more towards the CONCEPT of (a) BJ

Dude plays Madden with real players. He's not a leader or a boss even.

They were on Hard Knocks, and the Dolphins scored at the half, and they ran off like high schoolers, when suddenly he remembered they had to kick the XP. Had to stop celebrating to get the guys in place. I shut it off, didn't go back. He needed to coach the team, not storm the field. He's what's wrong with today's NFL. I hope the Dolphins keep him forever.

McDaniel is a good head coach. Has he really under performed? For some reason Grier won’t get him a decent backup.

100% underperformed......his offense and the culture of his team are not built to win past thanksgiving......they hang 70 points up in september, though

he is a good OC......i've seen nothing to indicate "good HC", and considering it appears he has lost that team, and has no accountability, signs point to being a failed experiment in miami

Do you think Tua is good enough to contend? If you don't, I don't know how you blame McDaniel

Say what you want about Tua but hes 38-24 as a starter. Hes a quality QB.

Elite? Hell no. Plus he can't stay healthy.

Plus i'm not sure what kind of leader he is.

This is the problem... McDaniel is this weird immature kid running around playing coach. Yes he is very good at calling an offense, but he doesn't seem very good at managing a team. I've seen so many strange clips of him dancing and making odd jokes and "trying to be one of the guys" and it obviously just doesn't work. If anything it would've worked better for Mayo since he actually WAS one of the guys (as in, an actual NFL linebacker) - McDaniel was a ball boy.

Some of the players (Tua) give him credit for being really in tune with their "feelings" but feelings don't win football games. I think a big part of the reason Flores gets crapped on is because the guy who came after him is McDaniel, and the contrast between Flores being a hardass who doesn't care about your feelings vs. McDaniel being overly focused on your feelings makes Flores seem cruel in comparison.

I think 2025 will be McDaniel's last year, he will get fired midseason or end of season, and he will go back to being an OC somewhere. He will light it up wherever he goes and end up getting another HC job due to that and it will repeat the cycle.

In regards to Ben Johnson and being wary of him due to this - I don't really see a comparison IMO. If you watch any clips from Johnson's pressers, he comes off as a lot more rough around the edges than McDaniel.

This just shows how hard it is to be an effective HC, like BB, Reid, both Harbaughs, etc.

sounds like it was far more than Tyreek, though......having a coach dance around and act like a fool, not setting/maintaining a viable winning mindset/culture, letting players run the show is a recipe for disaster

Mcdaniel is a great offensive mind.......not a good HC
Yeah, the hire Ben Johnson crowd needs to pay attention. The Patriots need a Head Coach, a culture setter. Nobody knows if Johnson can do that or not. You know what your getting in Vrabel...a man's man who commands the room, players and coaches included.

Never liked Mike McDaniels.

He's a try hard, a nerd, and he cares way to much about what people thought about him.

As others pointed out he is a great offensive minded and I think that combined with the contrast of who he followed allowed it to work quickly.

Ultimately I think it's more injuries that have derailed it but a good coach needs to be able to navigate that. I wouldn't give up on him yet if I was Mia but it will be interesting to see if he can ever get things back on track.

He's a guy who desperately needs someone to stand next to him and take care of the being the boss stuff.

Yes and no.

When the Bengals beat KC in the AFCC, the final Mahomes INT was to Hill. Mahomes never should have thrown to Hill, but Hill always wants to be the star of the show. He was a cancer there too. Their are rumors of him hitting on teammates wives and girlfriends.

I didn't watch it, but the Dolphins have been trending downward the last few years. Even if they were healthy, they would've been one and done in the playoffs.

McDaniel is a good coach, but he needs to come up with some counter punches to his offense. If an opposing defense stops his initial attack, he folds like a lawn chair.

Im not an Alabama QB fan, but the Dolphins trouble began when Tua went down.

I was surprised Tua lasted this long. His new contract was senseless because he has always been so fragile.
