Why have we not heard about a Vrabel interview?
Its been reported they will interview him this week. My guess. They meet with Johnson and maybe any other candidate(s) they are truly interested in, along with the token interviews needed between today and Wednesday. Then meet with Vrabel later in the week. If any of the previous candidates are still in play, then they let him know. If not, he walks out the door as the next HC of the NEP!

Rooney rule is so demeaning for these candidates
I think the spirit of the rule is good but the execution by the league is so clumsy. This is such a transparent Rooney Rule interview it is just flat out demeaning for Leftwich. I guess the only good thing from a fan perspective is that we are potentially complying with the rule ASAP.

I agree - i wonder why some minority candidates even go along with it. They can't win - either they participate in these "sympathy" interviews with no chance at the job, or if they are the best candidate some will say they were a DEI hire...
I can see some upside, though. I have interviewed for jobs that I was pretty sure I would not get, and many times I learned some things about how to sell myself better in future interviews.

I agree the job is his to lose in Roberts eyes. But I expect Johnson to blow them away.

For the life of me I cannot figure out why you are so hell bent on changing their offensive system, when Maye clearly likes it and is comfortable playing in it. Nothing is worse for a young qb than changing offensive systems and their language.

The New England Patriots' 2024 offensive rankings are:
  • Offense yards average: 31st in the NFL, with an average of 291.9 yards per game

  • Points per game: 30th in the NFL

  • Passing yards per game: 32nd in the NFL, with an average of 176.2 yards per game

  • Rushing yards per game: 13th in the NFL, with an average of 115.8 yards per game

  • Time of possession per game: 24th in the NFL, with an average of 29:20 per game

  • Pass block efficiency rating: Last in the NFL, with a rating of 77.1

I'll bet Bob reached out to Tom or Licht to get their takes

According to 98.5, they have already interviewed Pep Hamilton. So they will have satisfied the Rooney Rule with those two.

I wonder if Hamilton was a sign that Vrabel is the choice. Hamilton was Vrabel's OC. Not sure what Vrabel thinks of him because he was fired after the 2022 season, but Vrabel may have been forced to fire him.

EDIT: I was wrong. Hamilton and Vrabel never worked together. Got my wires crossed.

Patriots interviewed pep hamilton today. rooney rule complied with. ben johnson interview thursday? vrabel hiring announcement friday?
I thought I heard they were meeting with Johnson tomorrow, am I imaging it that?

Since he's from Florida, does he get the nickname "hurricane" when we hire him?

If we interview only two serious candidates that is barely better than the whole Mayo process.

Doesn’t matter what he did, he was Brady’s OC. Kraft is still scorned from letting Brady walk. Probably wants to hear Leftwich tell him everything Brady did right, so Kraft can be vindictive at Belichick even more.
I think Brady was Brady's OC.

That offense was pretty bad for half the season, and then Brady basically took over and you saw a lot of simple passes to backs and in the flat. Soften up the defense. Away from Arians ball.

Im not blaming Leftwich though for Arians' preferences.
