Does anyone think there is a chance Mayo is one and done?

If Kraft was smart, he’d fire the entire coaching staff today so the players have no idea what the hell they are doing tomorrow and then begin interviewing
What does firing the coaching staff today have to do with the players not knowing what they’re doing tomorrow? That’s a given, either way.

Ok one thing I haven't really seen or heard talked about and haven't thought of myself thus far. If we as fans are this frustrated not with just the losing, but the dumb verbal diarrhea coming out of the mouth of every "leader" in the building. How can Robert and Jonathan not be infuriated? They have to be.

I am clinging to this for the next 48 hours and believing they are firing at least the coaching staff. That's what I am doing...a long with drinking copious amounts of alcohol today to get me through these stressful time.

I am starting to think the coaches will be gone but I am doubtful Wolf is gone unless their chosen HC really doesn’t want to work with Wolf.

At this point I'll take it. If they bring in an experienced front office guy to oversee operations or some bs title. And a non-first year HC. **** maybe I'm just ****ing getting pathetically desperate now.

I think wolf is gone long before Mayo is.

That said, both will be back and Kraft will have to step down and acknowledge Jonathan.

Otherwise people will not even accept a turnover next year. They'll know it for what it really is, Kraft is ultimately the problem and will always be a year too late to make the decision and will make the wrong decision when he does make it.

At the end of the day Wolf is judged by the quality of the talent he brings into the building. In theory, he is also judged by the production of said talent on the field.

If I'm Wolf I absolutely would defend my personnel decisions and call into question the lack of development and the usage of these players.

He needs to read the room and play the politics. He can't bash Mayo directly but dropping these sound bites is an effective strategy.

Just playing devil’s advocate though, what if his picks AREN’T bad but the staff simply didn’t develop them?

What if Polk could be fairly solid but the toxic locker room culture totally screwed up his ability to perform?

What if Wallace had starting potential, but the awful strength and conditioning team (led by Jerod’s brother) screwed up his conditioning and then also screwed up his recovery, causing him to barely develop or play all year?

What if Okorafor could’ve been a decent RT but he peaced out because he could see how bad this locker room was going to be?

There’s a lot Wolf could point to. It does make me think it’s possible he returns for 1 more year with a good coach he signs off on and then they reevaluate. He didn’t choose Mayo, he was saddled with him. And then Mayo couldn’t even get his own staff together and they were stuck picking at scraps. No one wanted to work for him.
That’s a whole lot of what if’s. Wolf has too many excuses. He didn’t get the job done. He needs to go.

Wolf could deliver Mayo talent at the level of the 07 Pats & they would still go 3 & 14. Mayo is so incompetent as a HC, it's impossible to figure out what else needs to be changed about this team, until he is gone.

How many times does this need to be said: there is NO scenario where Wolf is fired but Mayo is not, short of Wolf being fired and Mayo assuming the GM role.

No GM candidate is ever going to entertain taking on the role of Patriots GM without firing Mayo. These guys get maybe one shot at being a GM and they’re not going to waste their opportunity.

I never said he wasn't.you should follow the chain of the thread to find the person who said otherwise.

The problem with blaming Wolf completely is the players he acquired were coached by bad positional coaches and a deer in the headlights Cov and Mayo. AVP and Springer are the only coaches who seem comfortable in their roles.

What if you took the 2024 roster and it was coached by the 2004 coaching staff?

Would they have won more games? Would Wolf look better or worse?

Both are true. Wolf did jack **** and Mayo did just as little. They both suck.

I agree, but most of the rookies showed absolutely nothing. At some point talent shows up, regardless of coaching.

I dunno. This seems the most likely fake promotion:

“Jerod has been successful as head coach so I am making him general manager and asking him to hire an experienced head coach to assist him in continuing the Patriots tradition of excellence. There will be no questions at this time.”
It's possible. If Kraft made a man of such few qualifications the HC, he can make him the GM. He'll never be in the HoF now.

Yes and Year 2 and better coaching will provide more clarity.
