CURRENT PATS LEADERS.

I have no idea if this is what OP means, but where does blame for Polk lie? Was he a bad draft pick? Probably. Could he have developed more under a capable WR coach? I have to think so. Polk is now psychologically withdrawn according to recent reports. Isn’t that a HC’s job to not allow that to happen? I think so.

Assuming not everyone is going to get fired or cut, how do the Pats fix this so every WR prospect isn’t just wasted?

front office? we have people in positions of power. I currently see no leadership in the front office. The leader of the front office should be Robert Kraft. What I see now is a guy who is afraid to pull the trigger on correcting his mistake in hiring the current coach. Where is the guy that fired BB? I want that guy back. The guy who isn't afraid to make a hard decision. Letting the current power structure remain in place is not making a hard decision. Its an unwillingness to not admit a mistake was made.

players? Maye might emerge as a leader next year. He was buried too deep for too long to become a leader/captain.

David Andrews I always thought of as a leader by example. A regular Joe who worked hard. Played to the best of his ability. Re-signed at a reduced rate because of "unfinished business". Same with Hunter Henry. Guy plays hard. I really like what he brings to this team. Hope he stick around for a few more years. Ja'Whaun Bentley - man I cannot say enough about this guy. He is home grown talent who quite literally developed into a player. Reminds me of the grit and determination that old school guys like Bruschi had. Kyle Dugger may have lost a step, may have not based on the ankle issue. Another defensive guy with a leads by example attitude.

Outside of those four? not sure...

and unfortunately, 2 of those 4 guys were lost for the season.
What we have to go off is having seen a mis-guided, untalented team that a year ago parted ways with a generational, historical NFL figure. There's no replacing that.

Leaders D. Wise, Peppers, Bentley, Tavai, J.jones, Dugger, Drake, Henry, Bourne am I missing someone?

as untalented as the roster may be, they are also poorly coached, which exacerbates the issue. Its why whole sale changes are needed.

Simply changing the coaching and nothing else is is putting lipstick on a pig. Your change everything to fix it not one or the other. I'm not against changing coaching they just best be sure to get it right they do.

No.

It gives you a legitimate opportunity to assess the actual talent level of the players you do have under contract, and allows someone better informed determine where the immediate needs are.

We go into the draft, we are taking the wr/cb guy, whathisface from colorado. We should be trading back and taking the best left tackle in the draft. Thats the difference.

We have had a bottom roster last few seasons. In 2022 Bill was able to squeak out 8 wins. With the same roster then 4 wins in 2023. Mayo inherited the same roster save for QB and still has 4 wins. It's the roster. Talent can cover up alot of coaching warts.for example. I wouldn't say Dan Campbell is suddenly this coaching genius. He's a great motivator with a ****ing kings ransom of players on his offense. They have no weaknesses offensively. I'm speaking from the mind that know Mayo's not going anywhere so I shift my focus to the roster. That is just me speaking for me.

I don't care if you know Mayo isn't going anywhere. Doesn't mean you have to defend him at every turn, trying to deflect any criticism with this whole "lack of talent" stuff. Well there's a real lack of talent on the sidelines too. And you know what, it is okay to say as much... We've won 3 games versus a much weaker schedule compared to the 4 last year. There was a stunning amount of disfunction on this team last year under BB. That was ugly & it impacted everything across the boards. Not speaking to your QB? To your OC? Thats terrible. Knowing that, I still say put BB and all that disfunction back on the team this year, you are looking at a 6-8 win team.

Jerod Mayo is in over his head. He comes off like he has no clue whats going on because he is clueless. He is not involved in the game planning. He is not involved in anything besides asking his coordinators if they have their game plans ready. Its bush league coaching in New England under Mayo.

Agree on Mayo completely. What is more glaring and upsetting is the culture the team has developed. It is a losing culture, I could not believe it when I heard about players laughing and joking after their 5th consecutive loss in the locker room, after having had a lopsided loss. The coaching off the field is as important as on the field . Mayo can't coach and he can't instill discipline in the players. So many issues , so many penalties, he is completely unaware of situational football, does not know when to take time outs, does not know when to challenge. Bill used to be involved with all the game plans, he would be talking to the defensive players all the time, he put so much emphasis on special teams, he would also interact with Josh and Brady on the sideline. He and Brady would sit down weekly and go over tape . Does Mayo even do that ? I have never heard Maye say that he interacts weekly with the head coach . This is all part of coaching , not just on game day, Mayo does none of it , so why should he be given another chance ? I guess we will get our answer on Monday .

Who's defending him? Ok he's had a tough go as a coach. I mean we all know he's In over his head. Dislike him as a coach all you want I can't defend his coaching record. There I said it. Give me a better roster and a better coach!
