Does anyone think there is a chance Mayo is one and done?

Schefter with 3 "I think"s. Must be fact...

“I think the Krafts have wanted to give Jerod Mayo every opportunity, and I still think that’s the case. I think they want to stick with Jerod Mayo. This is a guy they believed in, this is a guy they promoted. It’s a guy they stood behind,” said Schefter.

Tony Pauline doesn’t know jack
The guy is legitimately nuts. There’s no other possible explanation for how confidently he reports such specific rumors that then get proven to be nonsense.

(Ridder fell to 74. The Seahawks could have taken him at 40, 41, or 72.)

Nobody is reporting anything definitive, which leaves a glimmer of hope. I just really wish some of these reports would start leaning in the “well now the Krafts are really evaluating everything”.

They haven’t budged on the “Krafts are planning to keep Mayo unless it’s a disaster to end the season”, narrative at all. They’ve been saying it since the bye week and we have had two unmitigated disasters out of three weeks, I’m not sure what more could they possibly need to see that would constitute being a disaster.

The dream is dead.

I'm fine with it. We need one more top 5 pick combined with the haul we get from number 1 this year to make that leap.

Mayo is a guarantee too 5 pick. Hiring someone else could bring us down to the 10-12 range.

Read it...then went and slammed my **** in a door jamb a handful of times to try to relieve my brain pain....erp.... didn't work... we're stuck with this fkn clown I know it.
Most healthy thing is to stop caring, and if it wasn’t for having a good young QB and a top pick I could.

Just read Higgins is willing to take less to stay a Bengal.
So that being said, either draft Hunter unless mayo Efs it up or offer the number 1 overall for Malik Nabors straight up see if Giants Bite.

The Krafts are idiots...

Yeah, idk why people are intent on getting their hopes up on both counts. Every single report has been "Kraft really wants to give Mayo at least next year and needs something catastrophic to talk him out of it" and Higgins resigning with the Bengals has been a major possibility that players on the team are openly clamoring for.

It’s a lot of “I think” and “my feeling is” lately from the national reporters as opposed to actual more definitive statements like we got weeks ago. This makes me think that they were told something more clear weeks ago (probably before the bye) but lately it’s been radio silence, so they are left just making guesses based on what they were told a long time ago. That radio silence itself would/should lead you to think the opposite is definitely on the table, but they don’t really have word from anyone that that’s on the table, so they’re not going to report it.

Think about it like this - for years there was very little info ever leaked out of NE, which means the Krafts were pretty good about keeping things quiet, and obviously Bill was too. Up until last year when we suddenly had a total sieve of leaks, all of which painted Bill as bad and Mayo as good/the golden boy. Most of those leaks went to Curran, whom Mayo is a former TV co-host with. Those leaks appear to have been from Mayo himself for a very self-serving purpose. Now that he got what he wanted, he obviously isn’t leaking anything bad about himself out there and the Krafts are as quiet as they’ve always been, so we are back to how it used to be in regards to NE being a relative unknown until something actually happens.

Or it's just wishful thinking and Kraft hasn't changed his mind. If Kraft were out on Mayo, he's not that secretive. We knew for months Bill was gone last year.

I edited my post to add more context - the reason we knew Bill was out was due to Mayo. Not due to Kraft himself. At least that is how I view it.

Completely disagree. All these guys have a line to Kraft or someone deep in Kraft's circle who Kraft okays talking to them. That's why there are rarely any surprises with the Pats. Kraft wants his perspective out there and likes having the media do the justifying for him. If Mayo was doing the leaks, they wouldn't have been the way they were the last few weeks.

Jonathan wanted him out because Bill would apparently walk past him in the hallway and totally ignore him (which I still find hilarious) and that pissed off Thanks, Dad.
