It is a very ugly combination of players and coaching. Players who looked serviceable at the start of the season have regressed. Lowe's game yesterday is a good example of that.
Lowe looked better at the start of the season. Polk was actually out there doing some things. Stevenson looked better.

I mean even Ben Brown - they picked him up off a practice squad and he immediately did a very solid job. A few weeks later and now he can’t even remember how to snap the ball properly.

This team is taking some average and good players and eroding them down into bad players. The only guys who have somehow kept their high level of play despite the coaching are the QB and the CB1. People say it’s a “talent issue” but are they any worse than the Panthers? That team is pushing some solid teams despite some QB inconsistency. And that’s another first year coach. Meanwhile the Patriots don’t seem to even know where they are.

This, this, this this!

They are worse than the Panthers.

Lowe was never serviceable.
He had a number of games earlier in the year where he was almost a revelation, at least compared to the rest of the line. You can substitute Duggar as another example to a player that has regressed this year. The basic point was that players are not progressing, even the pro bowl punter has been inconsistent.

Being 'Better than Okorafor' is such an incredibly low bar...I don't know how you can say he's 'serviceable' based on that.

Also, his name is Dugger, the regressing safety - not Duggar of the kiddy-raping cult family. Please.

People talk about system players especially QBs.

I think Dugger is a system safety. Bill knew how to use him in his system. Now that he's not in that system he's completely lost. That's not someone you'd sign to an extension without knowing what you're doing.

Cut him. He spoke out and said something negative. Never mind he was arguably the best WR on the field for the Pats today.
Cut him or don't. It really doesn’t matter. He is a 4th or 5th receiver at best on any team with a real offense. The best car in a junkyard is still junk.
That’s not bad.
Is it terrible? No. Does it just add to the pile of needless comments that seemingly point the finger elsewhere to justify a screwup? Yes. Maye takes full accountability while half the other guys pretend to while adding a "yeah, but".

I agree, but I think it’s fair to guess that Mayo told Wolf he would know how to use Dugger because he is carrying over the same defense. Shocker! He’s actually incompetent

Fix the cause, not the symptom. The cause is coaching. Cutting players won’t fix that.

Very helpful, thank you

I agree the coach needs to step in and address it, but it is clear that isn't going to happen. If I were Kraft, Mayo and Boutte would both get pink slips at the end of the year.

Coach needs to step in and coach players up on the field before he worries about them talking off the field.

Do your job.

He’s failing in the number one part of his job. Play on the field is getting worse. And you want him to worry about muzzling complaints about the problem, instead of fixing the problem.

Players constantly talking only compounds the problem. This isn't kindergarten; these are grown men. They should know better than to say things that look like they're shifting blame. If the scheme, play calling, throw, whatever, sucks, then address it in-house with each other. This consistent nonsense with the media isn't good coming from anyone, coaches or players.

Im not disputing that we haven’t gotten better at anything (other than realizing Maye should play) but Lowe is, was an always has been horrible.

Don’t worry Jacoby, Jonathan was taking notes during the Cardinals game… should be fixed by next week.

They’re just following coach’s model.

Fix the root problem. Focus on that. Don’t get distracted.

Backups always look good for a short period like 2-3 games and then everybody can see why they were not even good enough to be backups on other teams

All their ot they picked up are fecking horrible and all their draft picks for o line are horrible too , they simply can not evaluate o line or wr Talent in the last years

Ehhh. I think he just meant that teams interested in him for next year will have to look at his failures this year, and that he hopes they will look at the film and see how little he had to work with both on the field and standing there on the sideline in headphones staring off into space. I think it's a fair ask, to be honest.

Get rid of all of them. Why keep any of them? None of them are good at their jobs.
