Bologna Bob confirmed cheap

Thats misleading, they've averaged 20th in the league in those years, they are only 32nd because for 2020, the year Brady left when spending went from $202 to $164.
In 2021 they were 4th in the NFL. 4th!
They also won 2 Super Bowls and played in 3 during that period.
BB was the highest paid coach int he NFL.
You're late. Post 3 is far too late for the 'Kraft Is Just Frugal, Guys' Defense Force to show up.

I kinda agree with the philosophy of not overspending for players. That can easily blow up in your face.

Because there's absolutely zero evidence that Kraft was tying Bill's hand and telling him to make these contracts. For years and years people always talked about

1. Bill Has full roster control
2. Bill is savvy and always gets value deals and doesn't overspend
3. Bill let's go of players early and doesn't extend on big contracts.

Nobody said "oh it's Kraft being cheap" all those years we were winning with the same philosophy. All of a sudden it stops working and now magically Kraft just started flexing his muscle and it's really his fault for doing the same **** we've always done as a franchise.
You are right. And Kraft is super cheap. Both are true. I don't understand your point.

People always say FAs are overpaid then the salary cap goes up. It is the system. You have to "overpay" FAs.

I mean the minute we started losing people wanted to blame anyone but Belichick. Don't forget how many people wanted to pretend the 2019 team was perfectly fine and the real problem was that Brady was losing it and was becoming a selfish primadonna who was screwing the team over with his bad play and bad attitude.... That was the narrative from a lot of folks on here.

Turns out nope, Brady was still great, still was the fiercest competitor in the league, the team just sucked.

Then the bad team was Cam's fault, then it was Mac's. Now Bill's gone and we have an undeniable good QB and we are still losing so it's clearly Mayo's fault and the last 5 years is really on Kraft.

The goalposts have just kept moving to ignore the piece of **** team the last GM had been building. And that's before diving into the details that the Patriots decline was actually a result of years of poor drafting BEFORE the last 5 years, 2019 was just when the guys we got from 09-13 finally started aging too much and the lack of refreshing the roster finally caught up to us.
No argument from me on that. How does it help us going forward?

Most posters are hoping 1. Wolf will be fired, 2. RK will spend to the cap in 2025 (as Mayo says, "burn some cash"). The point is to look forward and not make the same mistakes. We made the same mistakes in 2024 with a cheap and lousy FA and a horrible draft. Most posters want a new GM for 2025 who can bring in top level FAs and draft starters.

The point of the thread is not to look backwards, but look forward and fix the problems. You seem obsessed with looking backwards and placing blame. Let's look forward and create a SB winning team again. That starts with new professional management and burning cash.

FIFY

And you have both. Also a bad front office, and bad ownership.
Starts at the top. Fish rot from the head.

Players have regressed over the course of the season. I was just thinking it would be very interesting to see a film breakdown comparing the same players on the field game 1 and last night to see where they’ve improved and where they’ve regressed. Score them all for both games and see what traits the coaching staff has developed in the team.

The only coach on the staff worth retaining is TC McCartney. You could talk me into Jeremy Springer as well. But every single other person on the coaching staff needs to go. None of them are competent enough to serve on an NFL staff. I give AVP some slack, because of the dogshit position he's in roster-wise, but even he's done enough dumb **** to be fired.

It's misleading to say this proves Kraft is "confirmed cheap" because they are 32nd in this particular average.
Add to the fact BB was a major factor in determining spending for every year there it also is misleading to say it is Kraft.

The data shows they are about 20th in the league over that period when accounting for the one outlier year. The recent years have been worse than the Super Bowl contending years but also makes sense based on the roster and free agents available.

The team that was 4th in the entire league in cash spending in 1 year during that period while having the highest paid coach in the NFL that same year seems to indicate this metric is pretty poor in determining "cheap"

are you serious. this is a ridiculous take. every team has their own excuses they can make as to why theyre low on the list. youre only using the patriots excuses as a way to defend your argument and eliminating every other teams excuses. wake up and smell the coffee. krafts are cheap, they made billions off brady and bellichick and somehow think theyre the reason for the teams success. kraft is senile

Those are the Belichick years. We will start to find out if the lack of spending was Belichick or Kraft.

We only have one year of post-Belichick and the spending has been mixed. They weren't willing to be active in free agency (could be because of the talent available), but they were willing to overpay for Aiyuk paying him as one of the top WRs in the NFL. And they also gave very competitive contracts to their own players like Barmore, Onwenu, and Dugger.

I think is offseason will be telling since they will have the most available cap space and we know they need to add everywhere. I think the Krafts intend on spending in free agency to rebuild this roster and give Maye weapons and protection.

Top free agents did not want to go to the Patriots. Will that really be any different in 2025?

MIXED?

They went into the season with no offensive line, and 50 million in cap space.

MIXED?!?!
