I don't recall Brissett ever be the type of player who does toxic ****. The situation must be that bad for him to say something like this.
This seems to indicate things are worse than the Fat Matt and Joe Judge era.

Speaking of.

Cut him. He spoke out and said something negative. Never mind he was arguably the best WR on the field for the Pats today.

The 32-year-old didn’t play well enough to have a longer leash, but as he relayed to reporters last week, the situation around him didn’t help the cause.
“There’s so much I could say, but I guess, ‘not ideal.’ Obviously, a unique situation here,” Brissett told reporters, per ESPN’s Mike Reiss. “I’m not the one to make excuses, but at some point, somebody is going to have to watch the film and understand what I was dealing with. I think that kind of speaks for itself. I think it’s very easy for people to blame the quarterback for things — that’s what this profession is — but yeah man, tough year.”

If Mayo/Wolfe don't release him right now, he has zero control over the team. Fair comments or not, you don't say that out loud.
Please show me any word of what he said that was a lie. Please.

And you have a guy who got a concussion somehow who can't even get on the field for a game, who says people are going to get out of their wheelchairs to cheer - and another who says he has the best hands in the league, often, and can't catch a cold. Those guys are cool. The veteran you brought in who got his ass kicked behind five ****ing traffic cones, because the owner was too ****ing cheap to bring in even a below-average starter, who worded what he said about as politically as possible - that's the guy you want to release or they have 'zero control of the team'.

You know, because they have such great control of the team outside of that.

It's Mayo's fault. He allows this. You want to cut Brissett? There's about a half dozen others who have said worse this season he needs to get in line behind first.

Yeah, they're supposed to be robots.
But the situation must be more frustrating for the veteran players than the fans.
I'll be here next year watching the team, God willing.
A lot of the rookies will be.
For players like Brissett, this may be it. And he gave everything he had.

There were several of us in the offseason pointing out the Patriots might want to consider hiring a left tackle, as that is often considered a relevant position. The wide receiver situation came up occasionally. Yes, they made a bid on the only free agent last year, Ridley. Sadly, when that failed, what could they be expected to do? But deciding not to staff the team with a left tackle was surprising.

Maye has said Brissett has been nothing but helpful, in a way that some former veteran Patriots QB's were rumored not to be.
I think he's earned the right to be politely frustrated with a 3-11 season.
The most polite takedown I have ever read on here. Hilarious stuff.

Even on fluff shows like NFLN's "NFL Game Day Highlights" the hosts that barely watch anything but highlights are talking about the Patriots having the worst offensive line in the league.

If these talking heads that rarely say anything negative can notice that, you know the OL (and everything else) has to be beyond really bad.
And we can tell how poor the OL is just by watching.

Once again, the person or persons who made the draft picks is the culprit. Just because someone is drafted in the 1st or 2nd round it doesn't mean that they are a 1st or 2nd rounder.

Need to take a good hard look at the guys who do the "shopping" this team is woefully inadequate and has so many deficiencies, not sure that much else can be expected...
Cannot blame Mayo completely at this point, as there is little talent on this team.. can't make chicken salad out of chicken ****..
If they are not aggressive in FA and have an outstanding draft the rebuild will take even longer..

Are you a member of the Mayo household? Obviously playing for Jerrod the Fraud, the most unqualified coach the NFL has seen in ages, is “not ideal”. Brissett should be cut for telling the truth?
I agree with you… It’s honestly very hard to fault someone like Brisette who seems to be a solid, do whatever he can for the franchise guy….. but this has been an absolute dumpster fireof a year. Next to NO decent offensive lineman, NO WR, defense can’t stop sh!t…..and Brissette was taking all the heat for the offense’s struggles…..and finally he’s like “Can’t make chicken salad with chicken $&@^%!”…… but also he’s pointing to a bigger problem at the top of the chain with mayo who is probably one of the most incompetent coaches of all time and there’s been some beauties out there… I don’t blame Brissett here….. especially after everybody was blaming him for everything that was going wrong with the offense. I blame Thunder and Jonny Kraft for hiring Mayo and staff… it starts there

I don't think Jalopy Brissett was taking that much heat in the beginning. Everyone knew they didn't have any players on offense. It was kind of obvious. Vince Lombardi couldn't win with this group, just like Bill Belichick couldn't.

It is a very ugly combination of players and coaching. Players who looked serviceable at the start of the season have regressed. Lowe's game yesterday is a good example of that.

Boutte? 2 catches 19 yards and a drop that turned into an int. Thats actually worse than Polk he was wandering around looking for worms.

The dude is not the long term clipboard carrier. They drafted QB2 already. I don’t even want to waste a roster spot on a vet. They are 3-11. Cut his ass, send a message. Let him go do back up QB ads.
Note: The Pats have managed only 1 win without his on-field services

Regarding slotting in Joe Milton as QB 2 for next year, no doubt budget conscious Kraft would endorse this roster elevation.
Experience is overrated, and expensive.
