I'll still put money that he's HC of the Pats next year.

Failure at every level
Now I need to hope for the sloppiest most unorganized football to bring in Ben Johnson, Joe Brady, Kellen Moore,Not seeing a win on the remaining schedule. Sans Buffalo resting starters in week 17. If they get blown out for most of those games, he should not be back.
Will those guys want to come here if the perception is that we are unorganized, Kraft can't stop meddling and we have no talent except maybe 4-5 players on the team ? I don't think we have enough right now to attract Ben Johnson and company, as great as Drake is looking he might not be enough for some up and coming guy getting his first shot at being HC. My hope is if we keep Mayo for the next season, those guys stay put also and will be available for the 2026 season where hopefully Mayo is gone !!Now I need to hope for the sloppiest most unorganized football to bring in Ben Johnson, Joe Brady, Kellen Moore,
It’s better for an immediate release and to show you’re serious hire a firm to go get your next HC.Will those guys want to come here if the perception is that we are unorganized, Kraft can't stop meddling and we have no talent except maybe 4-5 players on the team ? Breer is Mayo’s number one water carrier & excuse maker. Mayo calls him on the way to the team bus after every game. Fortunately Bedard’s sources inside the team believe the Pats need to be competitive down the stretch for Mayo’s job to be secure.

Getting rid of some of Mayo's hires might help. But I'm just not impressed with the rumors about Mayo's character and leadership. I think Mayo is just going to tend to have a team with locker room problems and chemistry issues.I think Mayo sucks too.
I also think that if the Krafts start hiring new coaching staffs every year, we'll be the Jets or Panthers in short order. If they keep Mayo, and just blow out all his hires and put in actual, professional coaches in their place, then I'd be ok with that.
Mayo didn't hire Van Pelt, or anyone else on that offense or special teams, just for reference.
Mayo never had any of his guys... Everyone was a bill leftover. And mayo knows nobody... Big mistake from the krafts last year.
We have no choice but to hope Mayo can ascend. No good coaching candidate will want to come here. We can send our feelers to Johnson and see what he feels.
We cannot interview candidates without canning mayo and there is a risk that we get leftover candidates who might be worse than Mayo. At this point we need to focus on draft and hope we get some playmakers.
I doubt we overspend the cap next season as we might want to keep a heavy cap space for the next coach in 2026. So potentially rollover 40 million to 2026 and cut dugger, Stevenson while renegotiating onwenu contract.
Just get some additional consultants on defense and offense. Hire Saleh as assistant DC and keep Covington as the DC so that if the operation fails Covington is fall guy. Let Saleh handle play calling. I don't think Saleh will come here as DC as he knows it's a prove it year with very limited talent.
We just need to hope wolf hits a home run in 2026 draft. Else we again start the rebuild in 2026;with new coach and GM.

Breer’s article mentioned that it was known back in 2019 that Mayo would be succeeding BB.Most of what you say argues for Mayo being jettisoned as soon as the season ends and Vrabel (or someone similar) being brought in right away. Vrabel likely has a seasoned staff lined up and waiting for wherever he lands.
Covington is "one of Mayo's guys," the problem being that Mayo has few league connections due to limited experience. IF Mayo stays, you are correct assuming few experienced assistants would be interested due to his potentially lame duck status.
IMO, and I've said this before, Mayo's ceiling as head coach is mediocrity. Roster improvements alone could get him there.
I have started hearing stuff about this recently. Something about Jonathan Kraft digging around into Mayo's behavior last year and how he undermined Bill... And that Jonathan is not on the Mayo TrainThe dirt is starting to come out on how Jerod weaseled his way to HC. Not good for Jerod.
My fear is the Pats hang around or even worse win a few games and give Bob false hope to keep him.
