If patriots lose out, Travis Hunter could be theirs

So draft less athletic, less talented Wrs? Hope one of them turns out to be Sodapop Douglas? Doesn't seem like you are placing much investment into Drake Maye if you want to surround him with bottom of the barrel talent.

Isn't this what we stink at? Trading down and passing up on quality for quantity. It's what led us to where we are.

You get a chance at a freak athlete blue chip prospect in the top 5, you grab him!

The patriots have selected two receivers in the first round top 10 overall

1996 Terry Glenn- 7th Overall
1984 Irving Fryar- 1st Overall

Both made multiple pro bowls

The opposite argument can be made that you don't seem like you're placing much investment in Drake Maye by not protecting him and trusting it to bottom of the barrel talent. Our OL is historically bad. See John Hannah, Bruce Armstrong for the counter argument to Glenn and Fryar. Glenn and Fryar were also both a pain in the ass divas who were run out of town. It's also not just Douglas. Edelman and Givens were 7th rounders. Welker and Amendola were undrafted. There's a lot more success stories late or undrafted at the receiver position compared to LT.

A low-end 1, to be sure, but still a 1. You can build a competent corps around him. But he is better as a "1B" to a game breaking "1A" like he is with Chase now.

You might even be able to replicate that in 2025 if you draft Hunter as your Chase to pair with Higgins. You'd have similar firepower to Cincinnati, and a similarly poor OL, with a key difference being that Maye is a lot more mobile and escapable than Burrow.

Sciz recently posted some alarming numbers about Higgins production, and they really pointed to him being at best a 2, with most of his production coming out of the slot. I think they need to look elsewhere to fix WR.

The Bungles have had a subpar OL for Burrow's career. If they had a decent one, he would have won the SB his rookie year.

EDIT: AAAAANNND... he's got all those shiny weapons to boot.
This is true and we’re glossing over a very salient point… Burrow has suffered two serious season ending injuries over his short career. He’s heading towards Andrew Luck territory where he retires early… anyone want to see this happen with Drake Maye?

But the consensus seems to be that there are no "elite tackles" in the 2025 draft.
Then trade back and try and get another first rounder and take a tackle in the teens and then throw a dart at the board with the other one and you'll likely improve that spot.

Yup, by the time the Colts built a stellar O-line, Luck called it a day from too many hits.

in this draft, there probably is no difference in quality between a LT taken late in first round and at top of 2nd

Take Hunter at 3 and best remaining tackle at top of 2nd

Hunter at WR is as close as a sure thing as there is in this years draft

I hope the Patriots win two more games just to watch you guys cry.

Who cares about Divas. If they can get open and catch the ball, that’s all we care about. We’re not running a choir boy practice here. Most great WRs exude confidence and arrogance; accept this and embrace it.

As for Edelman, Givens, Welker, Amendola I could show you a lot more success stories of players drafted in the top 5 overall: Calvin Johnson, Julio Jones, Larry Fitzgerald, Jamar Chase.

Lastly, those guys you listed Edelman Givens Welker Amendola ….they had BRADY. The greatest QB of all time. Maye is not Brady!!! And to expect him to turn water into wine like Brady did is unrealistic and unfair to his development.

There is a 6’5 X Wide Receiver in the draft who moves like a slot guy…draft him and reap the rewards

I am not saying that he's not, I am saying that winning the LOS still matters. The current situation is dire at both positions, but one is easier to see on TV than the other. I am not going to be pissed at them if they draft a WR 3rd to 5th, nor will I be pissed if they take Banks. Both are positions of dire need, and both are the second and third most important position in football after QB. It's just a question which one makes the most impact. You have made your case that you think it's WR. I think it's LT. I think you may discount the value of a great OL. Make no mistake, I think both positions, but if I have to choose what to fix first, I am picking a LT to protect my 22 year old future of the franchise.
If Orlando Pace is in this draft, I’ll support your claims. However I’m not seeing any LT worthy of a top 10 pick.

Banks? What makes you think he’s a top 10 talent.

Campbell? He’s questionable as a tackle, most likely a guard. He struggled vs South Carolina. You don’t draft a guard in the top 3 unless he’s a first ballot HOF

I would.
You should have added Realfan 02 to the conversation
It would of then been a Family Affair
You are now a true Sybil in this base lol
I’ll continue to talk to PatsFan2.
Realfan 02 is OK. But Ray Ray 717 is too bold as a newbie

In 2024, we planned to take the top remaining tackle at the top of the 2nd. The top rating tackle was rated at the bottom of the 2nd after EIGHT were chosen in the first.

Depending on who we are able to get in free agency, it may be right to traded down, pick a middle of the round LT AND pick another at the top of the 2nd. Neither is likely to be an immediate star, but two choices give us a solid chance of getting one who will contribute, hopefully as a rookie. We could be getting toe contributors for 2026 and beyond.

Hey smart ass they both are very overated. I've een both havebeen dropped to the teens and some anylist hand moved them both to be IOL in the nfl.

At this stage of the season, I don't really care for wins anymore really. I just need to see the team play hard and if they win, they win.

Question, did you have the same statement about games at the end of the year last season?

Be careful what you wish for. If that happens, it will give the Kraft's false hope and Mayo one more shot. The best chance for Mayo, Wolf and Ghoh's exit is losing out.

I know. I'm just sick of the "tanking" mentality and premature draft drooling.
