Mayo interview with Curran

This isn't on Mayo. He's young. He's 36. Of course he'd be a better coach next year. That goes without saying with someone so young being a Head Coach for the first time.

The big problem is that the owner doesn't understand what is required to run a successful football team.
Yeah because his team hasn't been to 10 superbowls and won 6 under his ownership. Great post.

The NFL is not the US Military.
True, I suppose but they both are day to day jobs controlled by humans and all their errors, so not that much different. Are you saying that it is not possible to improve from one year to another because that was the point. By you pointing out the difference does imply that you think it is impossible to improve. ummmm what????

I am rooting for Mayo. He was a great player for us. He stayed and coached with us. He's part of the family. I would think fans would want him to succeed. The almost savage attacks kinda blows me away. He's our guy. Maybe it turns out he's not a good coach ... fine, but he's still our guy and deserves some respect.
I agree with you. I'm rooting for him, too. He's always seemed like a good guy and he was a very good player. But, I also don't think he was remotely ready for a HC gig. And, I agree with those who have suggested that he was Curran's mole.

Showed some humility there. I like the guy… be honest he probly won’t be a great coach. If he ended up turning this program around it be a great story. Jury still out
I like him as a guy, and liked him as a player, he is simply in over his head. The players on the team obviously like him. If he is retained for a second year and they replace Covington with an experienced competent DC, and Mayo really improves, I suppose there is a chance that this team can get turned around. Maye looks better weekly and I also think AVP is trending up the last few weeks. Not perfect but he is improving and his offense has not been a dumpster fire by any means. Continuity for Maye would be nice.

I would personally replace the whole coaching staff, and probably the front office as well, but at a bare minimum the DC definitely needs to be changed.

This part is interesting, and a good point. I wonder how much more savage it would be for a coordinator from another team who hadn't been a coach previously, especially given that the guy they have right now is someone who people used to cheer for on the field here.

Albeit - as others have pointed out - it's never easy replacing a GOAT.

How about just replacing a crusty, inflexible old Foole who's ****ing Sucked here the past 4 years...?

“I will be a better coach next year”

So… he’s writing off this year already? And he is already sure he’s definitely not getting fired at the end of the season no matter what?

I feel like that’s not really the best attitude to have but oh well.
He's untouchable until the stadium is nearly empty, the team is a complete laughingstock, the media is talking endlessly about how his ego has led the team to this point, Drake Maye is begging for a trade, etc. In other words, Mayo will be around for 2-3 more years. Somehow Kraft has turned into being one of the worst owners in the league. archstanton816, don't bother with your "I Don't Agree". Everyone knows you don't.

He won't be better next year unless he gets smarter, which doesn't happen at his age. His IQ will still be 90.

Absolutely. And Al Groh's boy with him too.

Reminder that the question to which I initially responded was: Who should go away first, Mayo or Curran (not Mayo or Wolf).

I whole-heartedly agree that if I could fire either MayoNays or the children Upstairs, then I would fire the kids first... But I would still INSIST however that I be allowed to also fire the former WR from Samford, and the two ****ing Unqualified ****ing Clowns "coaching" our WRs to do absolutely ****-All.

Were you a better Moderator of this forum in Year 2 than Year 1?

If the answer is yes, then why did you write off year 1?

Like any of us, he's learning.
Not good enough. He's not even in the same solar system as a competent NFL head coach. He is literally the worst coach in the league, and he's not smart enough to improve.

I like how I'm living rent free in at least two people's heads here. I don't think about you or that other guy at all.
