Bolles is 32.. I'd rather draft a LT, Higgins, greenlaw are must haves!!!!
In all likelihood the Patriots will end with a top 3 pick. There are just not any LTs good enough to draft that high.

As stupid as it is, the best thing to happen to them now might be to lose out and hope that the other couple teams ahead of them pick up some wins (thankfully the Titans and Jags play each other twice still in the coming few weeks), and then end with the #1 overall. Then take bids on it from QB needy teams and trade down, even if it's not that good of an offer, at least get some decent value. Then take your WR with your new first, and trade up with your extra capital to get a tackle later in the 1st.

Mayo's gonna either swim or continue sinking.. simply put.
We don't want Mayo to swim in the early years of Maye and waste him. We can't get those years back let's make em count.

Peering at 2025 free agent options...

- Trey Smith at OG
- Garrett Bolles at OT
- Tee Higgins at WR
- Chris Godwin at WR
- Nick Chubb at RB
- Jevon Holland at S
- Dre Greenlaw at LB
- Osa Odighizuwa at DT
I think Humphries will be available, too. Maybe he gets the rust off with the Chiefs this year and is ready to get back to normal in 2025.

I can accept that I think the Bye won't do this Team any good. Here's something to keep in mind Ross IF Drew Allar or Nussmeier from LSU declares and look good in workouts: the QB class becomes very interesting. Both might be better prospects overall than Sanders and Ward...even Ewers and Beck are interesting. I am watching the Juniors declaration pool.

Thanks Ross: I know we all want Higgins but I am warming to WR Chris Godwin because of my disdain for that JAG Pop Douglas. I would say No to Chubb I think he might be hitting that RB cliff. I wouldn't sign him to Big money.

Oh it's not silly at all Ross your correct! I think they are going to loose out unless Buffalo secures the 1 seed and sits everyone . Nice strategy with the draft. Now if hunter is available to us we snag him right??

If it is a bad team wanting to trade up, I think getting their 2026 1st rounder is preferable to their 2025.

Yeah that would probably be best case scenario.

If he turns out to become a better HC I'm talking far better than what he is now then maye will be okay.

That would be ideal. But I could see a team that is in the top 10 wanting to come up and only wanting to send a 2nd this year and maybe a 3rd next year. Depends on how hot they view the QBs.

Not holding my breath on that.

OK, I would take a top 10 2nd rounder in 2025 along with their 2026 1st.

I am flexible.
QB needy Teams mighty be thinking of getting the next Bo Nix. I see him in guys like Ewers and Beck. They are not flashy but if you put decent talent around them they can become Good players.

Interesting point. But Bill didn't survive last season, so it was either Mayo takes over in 2024, or he risks someone else excelling in the job. I'm not sure how easy it would be to convince an incoming HC to take on Mayo as a DC. In fact, given how poorly he has performed as HC, I'm not sure he would survive an evaluation by a legitimate HC. And Kraft forcing Mayo on a new HC would not start things off well. So it was 2024 or never for Mayo, and after his inevitable ****-canning, he will never get another opportunity.

Another interesting thing is how Mayo doesn't seem to comprehend how overmatched he is, and this is a hallmark of low IQ people: they do not understand their own limitations. It's beyond them. Stupid people cannot think at the meta-level. If he could, he would resign for the good of the franchise. I would, if I was that overmatched. I know I would, because I've already done it myself when I realized I didn't have the attributes necessary for success in a new role at work. That kind of awareness starts at IQs above 100, and the smarter you are, the better you realize and accept what you can't do and what you don't know. Mayo is a stupid man, and stupid men should not be HCs at the NFL level.

A man's got to know his limitations.

The one thing that is maddening for me is the LBs are so deep in zone because they know, and the coaches know, that they can't recover if they play more shallow. They just don't cover space; they are actually pretty slow.
They are slow. Maybe Duggar should play at LB at this point. He's pretty fast for a LB, he tackles well generally, and he's no great shakes as a cover safety. He's a little small for a LB, but there's a place for lighter, faster LB's in today's game, I think

One reason the LB's have to play deep might be because the coordination/communication in the back end is so iffy that they might be more comfortable dropping LB's more than they otherwise might.

(I'm no football whiz: just thinking out loud.)

It seems to me that a significant contributor to the problems, particularly on defense where the roster is at least decent, is coaching, HC and DC.

On offense, the roster, I think, is the main problem, though it doesn't help that the OC is really more a good QB coach than a good full-on OC and is as conservative and slow to adjust as he is when it comes to scheme and play calling.

He's a little older but still holding up fine, and solid LTs have been aging fairly well in the NFL. Between he and Lowe as a backup, they would probably be fine short-term for Maye while trying to draft and develop a long term guy.

On a side note, I did feel like Robinson looked OK at LG on Sunday. Not all-pro but not improved from his prior stints and better than I expected switching sides. If he can develop there it'd help a lot.

Bolles - Robinson - Strange/Andrews? - Onwenu - Wallace?
