Does anyone think there is a chance Mayo is one and done?

Unless he gets up and says something like I don’t cut unless I measure 10 times and I measured. However I didn’t get where I’m at by sticking with something that I know is wrong and I am always the first to acknowledge and admit when I make a mistake.
Thats why I have commissioned Scott Pioli to head up the search for the best coach for the Patriots and I am stepping out of it and putting it in Scott’s capable hands.
If Kraft’s ego is such that he is unwilling to admit mistakes and make change when needed, then we are in a tough position, held hostage to Kraft’s ego.

I think with the media onslaught from Bill and another failed HOF bid he can't weather the PR storm of canning Bill's successor after a year. Kraft has stated over and over how he hand picked Mayo and he views him as a leader and then the leaks that this plan was already in place when Bill was still here there is no way he fires Mayo with how image conscious he has become.
Media also said yesterday that Bob wants control and the reason why Mayo stays.

Mayo is basically Jason Garrett.

With that said, I don't think anyone gives a **** Bob fired a guy who's getting bashed weekly by the media and want him gone. He should've never gotten the job to begin with.

So you're saying he stays?? I guess l'll start now.

The media is getting more loud than in 2023. If they lose out, Bob won’t like the bad press and kick Mayo’s ass out.
So Kraft haven't learned anything from meddling Owners.

I definitely think that factors in. There was the rumor that was out there that the Krafts "wanted their team back," and that was a part of why they moved on from Bill, so it isn't farfetched to think they wanted a malleable coach who will follow their lead. My main worry is that Mayo is a placeholder while Jonathan Kraft and Robin Glaser learn the ins and outs, and that once they are up to speed, then they will start a real coaching search but still be meddling with the next guy.

I'm resigned to the fact that it's going to be meddling from here on out

If that turns out to be the case, then sadly, I will be need to be done with the NFL.

I am not going to find another team, but I don’t relish the prospect of investing time following a poorly run franchise with out of control egos in charge.

Seems like the Krafts cannot accept that they were just along for the ride during the dynasty, and want to prove to everyone that it was them all along.

For me, the matter is settled. The only arguments I hear for keeping an obviously failed HC like Mayo around is,
"HC's get 3 years to prove themselves; that's just how it's done." Why and so what?

The highest hope of those on the other side is that one day Mayo might prove to be an adequate HC and that there is the prospect that the team might eventually improve to the point where an actually competent HC isn't all that necessary. Pathetic.

We are going to waste another three year just to be sure nobody's feelings get hurt? You have got to be kidding.

So, if it was in Mayo’s contract that he would be BB’s successor, and there was already tension between BB and the Krafts, how much did that torpedo the Pats’ results on the field?

How much did it affect BB to know that the jealous Krafts did not have his back?

Did the Pats’ downward spiral have any relation to when Mayo’s contractual guarantee became known ?

Even if the Pats were good, the NFL in general has become pretty unwatchable. I started noticing this during the Pats 2nd dynasty. Now than before, every team looks the same and gone are the days when they had identities. Player turnover is way too high as well. Because of this, I've found myself watching less and less games each year.

Fewer.

I haven’t watched the Super Bowl for years if the Pats were not in it, and it wasn’t sour grapes.

The product was losing it’s appeal.

Kraft is 83.

The biggest thing he's going to want for his legacy is a Super Bowl win without Bill.

He'll take any short term hits to get a better chance at it.

Mayo will be gone.

I am still surprised that the Krafts, who are supposedly "astute businessmen" would enter into so foolish an agreement. Apparently they don't bring the same seriousness, the same "atsuteness," to running their football team as they do to their other enterprises, in which I doubt they hire managers based on how much they enjoy their company on vacation.

People have short memories.

Drew and Brady were like sons to him.

What did Kraft do for what he saw as a better chance at championship(s)?
