The Jete have been the Jete for half a century - it is expected and they are universally seen as a laughingstock. The Pats once were also, crawled out of it with the two GOATs, and we all enjoyed two decades of greatness. To me it is worse to turn into the Jete North after that...

Mayo said that he would have benched him but they don't have anyone else to replace him with. (paraphrasing)
Mayo has now moved to speaking about the team that quit on him, that showed no distaste for getting blown out, that he previously called soft, by saying The starters shouldn’t be playing but I can’t bench them because the backups are incompetent.
A leader who blames those he leads and takes no responsibility himself is a failure in progress.

In my opinion, it's important to get a Vrabel or a Flores type back in there ASAP who can reinstate the correct culture. They had it not that long ago and they can get it back, but the longer they let this "anything goes" mentality under Mayo fester, it will soon become impossible and they'll be just another perennial bottom feeder team stuck in the doldrums.

As much as I would personally like an offensive guru for a coach, I think fixing the culture is now more important than that... Being on your fundamentals and having a solid offense will be a fine foundation. Maye can get you the rest of the way.

We were picking close to the Top half of every Round in the 2024 Draft: and came away with One Very Good Player embarrassing. Yeah I rally want to trust those guys again instead of FA.

I don't want to trust those guys in free agency either.

We have an owner who thinks he drove the dynasty rather than just being along for the ride, while occasionally putting sand in the gear box, (Spygate and Deflategate).
Until he gets a reality check or someone competent takes over, this situation could metastasize into something we don’t want to see.

I want an Offensive HC for Maye...Johnson or Moore please.

He's the Owner. He hired the right guy who ran the team to success. He deserves credit for doing that and not meddling. That's the same for any owner in any sport (if they're into the whole not meddling thing).

We are 3-9. We can’t run an offense without penalties and/or a jailbreak to the Qb.
Our defense is a mess.
Our GM went to free agency and signed zero good players.
The owner hired the HC for reasons not related to winning football
The OC is a guy who wasn’t allowed to call plays and STILL got fired. By the BROWNS
Our HC routinely publicly insults the players and refuses to take blame.
Players don’t seem to care when they get blown out.
We have picked up numerous waiver wire players and they play major minutes, some start.

We are pretty much as broken and a joke as the Jets have ever been.

OK, here we go down the ignoratio elenchi rabbit hole ...

I am not saying that the Pats are a better football team than the JETE, but the Pats are not a 50-year-dysfunctional organization.

Firing your coach in the middle of a season is a DUMB thing to do if you don't have a replacement on hand, unless the atmosphere is so toxic that the coach is making bad players out of good ones. So I'd have dumped Urban Meyer and let things roll where they do. But fixing the Pats is a task for calm heads at the end of the season.

By the way, watching the Belichick-Patricia podcast it emerges that Belichick was calling Patricia at 5 a.m. every morning while Patricia was coaching the Lions and Belichick was Head Coach of the NEP! I wonder if he's calling Mayo to give him a similar service.

7 points, that's all the offense scored, Maye has yet to lead the team to 23 points in a game.

Granted he has no help, but again, imagine if the Pats had draft Alt and then McConkey, how much better shape they would be in. I still say play Milton, he is by far the best athlete on the team. Polk has been every bit the bust that I thought he would be on draft day. How can one franchise consistently be so wrong so many times? Should have let someone else hire Mayo and reaped the 2 third round picks!

So you draft Alt and McConkey, who is your QB? Milton? Do you think there is a reason he wasnt in the top end of the draft or the fact that he couldnt and still cant even beat out Brissett as the back up? Was Brady a great athlete? His name will never pop up in that conversation, I guess he will just have to settle for being the best QB of all time.

The current state of the patriots is every bit of what made the jets the jets.

Why is firing a bad coach a bad move? We are gaining nothing by having him here. Dysfunction breeds more dysfunction.
If players are getting blown out and don’t care, firing the coach and replacing him with someone better equipped to lead will help evaluate those players.

I would say that a situation where the coaching staff cannot coach away mistakes, consistently blamed players and takes no responsibility, where the players are quitting on the team and reporters describe it as the locker room that looks least like an NFL locker room after being blown out (unconcerned I think was Bedards term) is quite “toxic”.

My concern with firing him today is simply that it ensures he is fired before next year. Waiting until the season is over doesn’t make much of a difference, it’s just humane to put it out of its misery.

I’m not sure what belichicks relationship with Patricia had to do with this. But nice deflection nonetheless.

I hate to say this, but the Pats should be doing the same thing:

Not similar situations. Saleh had his chance. And their GM was their GM for a while. Mayo and Wolf will be getting their chance. That means at the very least one more year of them if not two.

We've become Cowboys North until the team starts operating in a way that says otherwise.
