These are Boutte’s numbers in 8 starts.
35 targets
20 receptions
276 yards
1 TD

That projects to a full season of

74 targets
42 receptions
586 yards
2 TD

That’s 2.5 catches and 34.5 receiving yards per game.

Devante Parker averaged 2.5 catches for 35.9 yards per game as a patriot

Boutte is failing badly.
The stats certainly tells the story of where Boutte stands vs better receivers on other teams. When you put a player of Ramsey's caliber on a receiver like Boutte, you get the results we saw Sunday. Those results reflect a lack of capability, even when the player is performing to his capability.

So, according to AVP, Pop (surprise!) made a mistake with his timing. He said it was supposed to be a 5-step drop, but he ended up running a 3-step route. Apparently, he got a bit too excited and messed up. As a young player, he’ll learn from this.

By the way, I thought that was supposed to be on Maye. I’m starting to believe any pick he throws that doesn’t seem obvious on him is actually on the receiver.

Ladd Mcconkey looks like a future 100 catch per year player…sigh.

Meanwhile, we pass on him for Ja’Lynn Polk.

FIRE our wide receiver scouts.

This crap again?

Which of these stat lines should they have drafted? I'll give you a hint - the Patriots drafted the better of the two.

Are you unironically defending the Polk pick? He's arguably been the worst WR in the entire NFL this year.

One played in the SEC and the other played in the candyland conference. I’ll give you a hint which one is which…

I figured they would start the season slow with a lot of growing pains but starting to come together by Thanksgiving. Not world beaters or anything but solid. They're just as bad now as they were at the beginning of the season minus some highlight throws by Maye.
Other than the qb position, they have gotten worse at every other position !

Not sure if it was discussed, but media noticed Jerod Mayo constantly complaining to the officials all game long and CBS showed it as well right before the half. In fact, Jacoby Brissett was seen walking out to midfield during a TV timeout to complain to the officials...he's not even playing! Other coaches were also seen complaining to officials rather than coaching their own players.

Sorry, but I maintain my prediction that Mayo is one and done.
That one time I seen him walk out was because someone was injured I thought ?

No, I'm unironically pointing out that drafting with 20/20 hindsight is easy. The Patriots used the metrics available to them and chose the wrong guy. It happens in every draft to every team.

The draft is a crapshoot & pretending that you are so prescient that you can just tell which player will be the better player in the NFL is ludicrous.

The only question is there is something called probability and in that you occasionally turn out to be good. Why do we always suck , defying laws of probability. And that has to do with not using available data correctly.

So BB finished strong with 2 more wins down the stretch. Will Mayo finish strong with 2 more wins?
I wouldn't say 2-3 and dominated by a 7 win team in the finale last season is finishing "strong".

I just want to see this team play clean crisp football games without the turnovers, botched assignments and penalties.

Wait. You’ve watched Polk do nothing, or worse, all season and you are defending the pick because if his college statistics, skewed by missed games?
Does this mean NKeal Harry was a good pick? Calvin Johnson must have been really dumb.

In the NFL 2 players have done this:
11 G 12 REC 87 YARDS 7.3 Y/R 2 TD 7.9 Y/G
11 G 49 REC 698 YARDS 14.3 Y/R 4 TD 63.5 Y/G

Which is better. I’ll give you a hint, the Patriots didn’t draft the fit with more than 7 times more yards.

If you think drafting is about reading statistics you failed before you’ve started.

Sometimes you can. Harry, SlowJuan, and even overdrafting Strange. People could see those as bad moves when they were made.

And spare me the whole "lots of teams had Harry going in the first round" nonsense.

We know his injury history but shouldn't we give him a shot so that Drake Maye can make it through the season. Lowe or Jacobs is going get him hurt.

If you’re referring to Brissett, you didn’t see it because it was during an TV timeout.

Year after year we hear the “hindsight” excuse, but I’ve seen many posters on here hated picks from the day they were drafted and called for players that ended up being good. McConkey is the latest example of who posters wanted. Pickens over Thornton was the other.

Here are some interesting stats.

NKeal Harry rookie season. 7 games 24 targets 12 rec 105 yards 2 TDs 220 snaps
Jaylin Polk rookie season 11 games 30 targets 12 rec 87 yard 2 TDs 381 snaps

These are Boutte’s numbers in 8 starts.

Boutte is failing badly.
Boutte also played the most snaps of all the WR's. His number are very pedestrian considering the amount of snaps. WRs are a Desperate Need: I'm convinced we need Three, don't get me started on Pop Douglas.

AJ: Polk said to tell you not to put him or those numbers on blast.
