There really is no good explanation for the game ending pass last weekend, except that maybe he felt pressure to his right side and rushed it (that DE ended up falling down so there wasn't any threat). If Maye actually meant to throw it there because he thought Pop was going more vertical, that route wasn't open, the safety who intercepted it was right in that spot. So I'd like to understand what Maye was seeing/doing on that play.
That aside, Drake's composure, ability to process, throw to all areas, throw on the run, run it himself, and be a leader look pretty special to say the least. He's already a stud as McVey said after the game, and will certainly become better within the next year. But when you watch a Detroit, you realize how weak we are at all other offensive positions: WR, OL, RB, even TE. I don't think any of our 10 other starters would start for them. For that reason it will take Maye at least 2-3 years to reach his potential.
