I don’t hate Bill. I hate the awful job that he did the last couple of seasons starting with his goofy MP/JJ hires. That’s where he lost me for good.

Bill didn’t manage any such thing. He was a coach. Players win games not coaches. Bill himself will tell you that. If you think wins are all on the coach it’s only logical to assume losses are as well.
Yes, players play and coaches coach and that is why Bill gets credit for getting Mac good coaching in his rookie year. If you think he had nothing to do with the success of the Patriots for all those years than I have nothing left to say.....

The front office better put some pieces around him or he won't be effective.

Well that's why I'm happy to lose these games. Pick one to a team that doesn't need a quarterback is immensely valuable. If we can somehow get that we can really jump-start the whole process.

But I'll settle for a top three pick

if Peyton Manning can take a .300 career NCAA coach to a Super Bowl like he did then that doesn’t say much for the argument that coaches matter more than players

Nearly anyone can win 1. Someone has to in the end every single year. Now to win 6 play in 9 and be in the SB conversation every single year for 20 years? Yeah that takes some serious good coaching.

But this thread isn't about that is it? Its about this game and BB, Brady or Mac were playing in it.

Verteran QB grade, D-. Rookie QB grade in his 4th game. B-. He was the entire offense today at 22 years old.

So far its not nearly as bad as i thought. I honestly predicted more ints than tds and some major blunders / deer in headlights moments when it was announced he was taking over at qb. Honestly haven’t seen either of those

He has turned the ball over as expected but hes shown he belongs and has made something out of nothing at times. Considering that the wrs are trash, oline is inconsistent at best, and the defense gives up at least 20 every time out while giving up 7 minute drives for alot if it hafta be pretty ecstatic with what you’ve seen so far from him.

That defense in SB53 also didn't have to worry about Todd Gurley as his knees were shot. It would've been a lot more difficult game had we seen the healthy Gurley.

The wind and rain is when the Pats have been able to stop competent offenses.

Lmao, this is comedy.

You're the one that is comparing players and coaches . If you think coaches don't matter than why do we have them ?Let the players play and they can have no rules and the last man standing wins the SB.
If you think they would have won 6 sb's with another coach you are living in fantasy land !! Brady would not be the QB he ended up being without Bill.

Right and of course paired with all universe QB play together. Which is what we had.

Sure but that means that the coaching does actually matter. Without one of them, the other wouldn't succeed. Might be seeing that with Mayo right now and they need to fix it asap if it's not right.

Problem IMO is that AVP and Mayo don’t seem to be giving Maye any answers, they just throws him out there with a bad play call and say “please save us Drake!!!”

Feels like they’re relying on him too much in his 4th start, vs guiding him and helping him along. They’re asking him to support them instead of them being the ones supporting him.

This is one of the big reasons I feel like this staff isn’t going to last.

He already is effective and his cast sucks. He can actually throw to the sideline and I don’t hold my breath every time waiting for a pick 6. He’s a lot of fun to watch even in a losing effort. Honestly, I think he has got game that may translate to greater things. Definitely the right thing so far starting him to get that experience despite some wanting to ease him in and sit the year. He’s responded well.

Your right though, he needs a lot of help. He’s gonna get to the next level regardless, however to start getting into playoff contention he’s gonna need a lot of help on both sides of the ball as well as better coaching.

I really hope you are right, there need to be changes among the coaches and the front office !

A criticism of Maye was that he tended to play “hero ball”, when he is trying to carry a bad offense.

We saw that today.
Definitely some hero ball going on with him..... But I can't possibly blame him for that when he is getting no help from anywhere else. Maye is the team right now and he is the only reason we even had a chance to win today. Flaws and all.

When a joke my wife makes is a highlight of a game day thread, you know it was a bad day
I didn’t mean to slight her in the least.

And if something was working like the quick hitters they just went away from it. Instead of continuing to wear down the pass rush i guess making drake a sitting duck was a better plan.

If they even do manage to eventually surround drake with a good team its hard to see avp not holding everything back. They have to move on at least from him sooner or later. Mayo should have to earn year 2 over the second half. As its been said its not really about wins but you wanna see certain areas improve and a cleaner operation

I’m fine if we’re blaming AVP, but the WRs not getting separation and the line being unable to give Maye time to let the WRs get separation (or the RBs run the ball well) is a big reason Maye has to improvise so much.
